BGC 2024 WR/PTP Thread

He's been getting some criticism from scouts. Might fall unless his combine numbers become too much for some schlub GMs. Hope that's not our analytic guys who make that mistake.

His teammate however, Adonai Mitchell, is very nice.
He looks alot Bigger than Boney T and was the Top Guy at Texas I like Worthy in the late Second after a Trade down.

Mitchell was their home run hitter. Faster, bigger (bulk wise), more than 2x as many TDs, and 2 or 3 yards per catch more. 70 catches for Worthy to Mitchell's 50.

What are they saying about Xa- Worthy??

Yes, every bad pick was BBs. Every good pick was someone else's. And Troy Brown found a kid on a team ranked in the Top 25; no one else saw him because no one watches teams ranked in the top 25.
Yes, if a pick was good, somebody else was responsible. If a pick was bad, it was because BB never listened to anyone. This garbage is so tiresome.

I read some rumblings from NFL scouts about his route running. But I also saw Dane Brugler say he's not even a third round pick for him. Don't know why.

I consider his College stats very impressive look at his TD stats from day 1.

It's a very interesting 2024 WR Class to me looks way better than last years. In the Third he would be a Steal and great value.

Who cares if a draft pick is a steal or a great value. All that matters if he is a great NFL player. Chase Winovich was the steal of the draft according to numerous experts, and a lousy NFL player.

Speaking of upgrades, seems like the up coming draft is full of guards and right tackles again after Alt and Fashanu. Not sure how they are going to address the LT if they don’t draft one of them. Maybe Guyton but he played RT for a lefty so we’ll see. But I’m all for one of the 3 centers to work under Andrews for a year. The kid out of Oregon Jackson Powers Johnson, Georgia Sedric Van Pan and WV Zach Frazier seem like great upgrades. Also like the guard from BC Christian Mahogany although he played rg.

Jordan Morgan or Kingsley Suamataia at #34; Troy Fautanu there also but only if he measures-up.

No Right Tackle-Onlys or C/Gs Need Apply. Not that early.

Wat do we think of Xavier Worthy in Texas?

He's skinny, like someone else we know. Explosive speed and good stats for Texas this year.

No thanks. Same answer for the other twig from Oregon.

6-7 WR Johnny Wilson what's peoples take?? I see him as move TE in the NFL wouldn't touch him before Day 3. I think he can add more to his frame he seems slow as a WR won't leave anybody in the dust.

He could very well become a Move TE at this level, but you're gonna be surprised at how well he's gonna test athletically.

He's gone before the end of Day 2, book it.

I watched him in the bowl game they played against La Tech I think. Dude is a total doppelgänger for Deebo Samuel. Plays a lot like him too.

Malachi Corley in the fourth or fifth round. Book it.

His level of competition concerns me. He would make an excellent back end of a double-dip, but there's no way I'm taking him as my first WR.

Except for the fact that when Belichick picked in the first 20, he never traded out of that area and always ended up with a good player (not one bust) until Mac jones

Then Strange69 immediately thereafter.

But that was at 31 after going down from 22

If I extend the analysis to looking at picks in that 20-25 range, the drafts look even better: Vince Wilfork, Daniel Graham, Chandler Jones, Donte Hightower, Devin McCourty.

BUSTS: Isaiah Wynn, Laurence Maroney, Brandon Meriweather

It was still his first pick of that draft; and that was (yet another) Fireable offense.

He had no choice but to take Corky the year before, so I don't even blame him for that one... But his & Al Groh's kid's ENTIRE 2022 draft class was In-****ing-Excusable... Egg-zactly as some of us predicted.

There were a lot of bust at 30, 31, 32. At that point, you're dealing with people with a mid 2nd round grade. They are all the same. That range if picking isn't going to yield results. The point is, they hit on players with first round grades and missed on players with second round grades.

Those picks all seemed so long ago...

BUSTS: Isaiah Wynn, Laurence Maroney, Brandon Meriweather
Lose/Lose was mis-cast as an NFL Tackle instead of the NFL Left Guard he was meant to be... I don't really blame Bill, much, for the LaMa pick because the only other RB I wanted there besides him was Memphis' DeAngelo Williams, who I thought would've been the perfect replacement for Corey Dillon... But you are spot-on, 100% correct about the Miami Stomper, who wasn't even the best dam Free Safety available at the time... Hated the pick, hated the player... Still do.

I listed ALL THE PICKS in that early to middle range. The fact that they weren't from the latter quarter of the Brady era only underscores the fact that we were ALWAYS picking late in the 1st round during that time, and 2x didn't even have a first round pick.

So, just getting back to the topic: bad at drafting late in the 1st round, really good at drafting early and in the middle/2/3rds of the round.

Several late BUSTS: Dominique Easley, Malcolm Brown, Sony Michel, N'Keal Harry. Michel actually gave us one good year so it's hard to call him a bust since he really did help win a SB, but overall we got a lot less out of that pick than we should have. Malcolm Brown was a huge drop in the draft, some had him in the top 15, but whoever let that guy drop was right.

Two good ones late: Ben Watson, Logan Mankins
