Belichick (via Howe) also claims be didn’t want to draft Mac Jones

Mike Lombardi said BB liked Davis Mills back in 2021 after the draft. Funniest part about this thread is the OP thinking BB is Jeff Howe's source and leaking rumors.

BB will live rent free in the head of the haters for a decade or so... they'll reinvent history and suggest without Bill, Tom could have won ten or more rings.

Nobody knows what happened here at the end, if the Krafts stuck their nose in and clenched up during the rebuild. Who cares?

The big bad meanie is gone... move on with your lives.
Cam Newton's gone, Matt Patricia is gone, Bill Belichick is gone. Running out of fall guys down in Foxboro.

Mac Jones is still here
You know what? You bring up an excellent point and I stand corrected. And we might get two more years of that. And then after that it will be Mayo, so they're in much better shape for fall guys than I thought.

my feeling is the Patriots will be good enough next year to not have the need for a fall guy. I hope because I don’t want Mac here next year and I like Mayo

One mans crap show is another mans incomplete information. Both labels apply to creating stories out of incomplete information with an agenda depending upon allegiances. What we are experiencing is the opposite of the dynamic when things were going well. All parties wanted to be thought of as the reason for success and now no one wants to be implicated for mistakes. The reality of both situations is that multiple people contributed, combined with the randomness of the universe the outcomes were very different. The famous quote “Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan” applies here. The best case scenario is that both BB and the team do well.

Incomplete information means that conclusions shouldn't be drawn. Therefore, we don't know what is crap and what is not.

LOL, I am not the one writing the stories. As the consumer I believe that they are crap.

He had a couple of plans in place. They just didn't work. Which fits the percentages in the NFL.
1. Garoppolo
2. Shove all dead cap money into 2020 and take the hit
3. Take a QB in the 2nd rd.

None of this gives us a QB, but then again, taking a QB at #15 gives us a QB either. Signing a FA QB is a good alternative but you couldn't undercut Mac like that. Heck, Mac was undercut by a4th round QB taken in 2022.

You're right about the NFL.

I really wonder what would've happened if they hadn't taken Michel or Wynn in 2018 and instead taken Lamar Jackson. After all the Garoppolo and Brady drama of the previous year, I wonder if that was an absolute no go for both the fans and the front office.

It was a great run but it was time for it to end. And I don't need stories like this to confirm it. The undisputed facts are enough- Harry, Patricia, Sanu, getting blown out in playoffs against Buffalo without forcing a punt, Ryland, Thornton, stuck with Jones way too long, O line play not good enough, etc...

Notice- I'm not killing him for Brady, because let's face it- up until that point no one had ever done it at Brady's age so he was playing the percentages.

To be fair, I give him a ton of credit for keeping Brady on the roster as a rookie, making the move to go with Brady when Bledsoe returned, winning both SBs against the Rams, Vrabel, Harrison, Moss trade, Welker trade, Ninkovich, Amendola, Seattle sb, I'm sure many I'm missing.

Nothing lasts in this world, unfortunately. But it was def a great ride.

Even the most irrational BB hater has to recognize that he is being used as the scapegoat by ownership and appreciate what he brought to the team for 24 years. You don't have to be a sycophant to understand that BB has become the lightning rod for the inevitable end of the amazing run and want him to succeed in the future. The same goes for Brady when he left. Personally, I will hold my nose to cheer for the Cowboys if BB goes there because it will bother RKK/Johnathan the most without actually harming the Patriots as a team. When BB wins the Super Bowl with the Cowboys, the media will be quick to point out that this is another reason that Jerry is in the HOF and RKK is not. LOL
I was in favor of separating from BB, based on what I felt and still feel is the evidence that under his leadership the team wasn’t finding solutions to their QB, OL, and WR performance issues that had persisted over the past 4 seasons, the overspending I felt they did on special teams without suitable return, and the frequency of mental mistakes. I am beyond grateful to him for what the team accomplished under his leadership. I don’t believe it would have happened without him.

I have not and will not spend time reading the all too predictable hit pieces. The agendas behind them are transparent. When I read the original Curran piece it was plain to me whose agenda it served. I posted a day or two after it came out that it was 1000% on brand for Jonathan. Do I have proof, no, but I’ve seen this routine from ownership of teams way too much to not understand who has the most to gain from getting the crap out there.

Jonathan is certainly sharp but is as obtuse and self serving as it gets if he thinks this is what his fan base is in favor of seeing. We get it, his agenda is to promote the reputation of the Dad and the family in general, and to help the Dad’s case for the HOF in particular. This crap they want out there to take credit for themselves for the success by diminishing what BB - and all the players, coaches, and football organization - were responsible for only puts a target on their own foreheads. They didn’t seem to love that post Parcells but that’s coming straight at them now if they continue to flounder.

We want to see them win and play entertaining football. If they do we will all be happy with all of them. If they don’t then they can blame-shift all they want, those of paying us for their product are not going to be fooled.

I'm of the belief that if we had taken Jackson in 2018 he wouldnt have had the success that he's had. The environment and circumstances matter.

Their adjustments during the Cam Newton year tell me McDaniels was capable of designing an offense around his capabilities.

Consider though that other than Andrews, Lamar Jackson has not really had weapons until this year. Bateman is a late bloomer, Flowers looks stellar, and Hollywood Brown in previous years look pretty good, but the Ravens lucked out in getting rid of him because he's been pretty underwhelming. They are doing well with Lamar and a bunch of guys who get into space. No real superstars.

Wouldn’t you know it? It seems Bill was responsible for every good decision, and not responsible for every failure. Spinjob Belichick continues his campaign, ongoing since 2017.

Absolutely correct, no matter what is said.. he still was the GM.. so let me guess, he didn't want to draft Ryland in the 4th, sign juju, sign rieff, sign Parker to an extension.. sign Lowe or any other other player that didn't workout.. LOL.. I was forced to do it! An organization isn't going to pay a GM 25 million and have to make the decision for the GM..

Do you know him in real life? He rarely talks to the media or does press conferences.

If we start Mac Jones next season then Management has decided to tank for another top 5 pick.

But first who do we take with pick #3?
I'd say take Harrison jr. Trade for fields and add another QB in the later rounds?

Is Curran really saying he believes Mac will be the 24 QB?
