Their marriage had run it's course. Tom looked burnt out in 2019 and the future was looking bleak. The roster had been deteriorating and it turned out Bill has made it worse each year since Tom's departure. In fact, it's going in the direction of Bobby Grier all over again.

Whether Tom wanted to stay or not/Bill not wanting to sign him for 2 years, him not returning was the right move for him.

I agree and remember how burnt out he looked, but I still feel like the execution of the split up wasn’t the best. The bandaid needed to be fully ripped off.

The Texans also have something to play for -- they are a team that is rough around the edges, but gaining momentum and confidence.

What do Patriots players have to look forward to? A roster and coaching staff in a tailspin with little chance of getting better.

We are in a cycle of decline and nothing will get us out of that cycle except rebuilding the whole organization.

There was nothing wrong with this thread, it was a very accurate assessment of the opportunity the patriots had. They didn’t capitalize but it was certainly still there.

There you go again, three of the 4 teams had a 6.5 O/U, so none of them were expected to be over .500 Only Saints had a 9.5 O/U.

A more honest bet, in line with the theme of your thread is to bet Pats <.500 you vanish, and >.500, he'll be gone. Pats had a preseason 7.5 O/U. It's a fairer bet. Back up the theme of your thread by putting your balls where your mouth is: bet Pats end >.500, then you can claim checkmate.
