Pats running game on pace to be the worst in the NFL in the last 10 years

After Mac’s pitch turnover I would rather have Zappe out there. Mac seems toxic. I imagine the locker room hates him. Zappe isn’t going to be any good but I’d rather see them tank with a guy you can at least root for

Careful Triumph is triggered when you say zappy sucks lol. reminds me of Pork lol

No defense needs to fear mac and can focus on stop the run , formula to success against this offense and qb
Put 8 in the box and dare Mac Jones to beat you. Sounds like a recipe for success considering Mac can't hit the deep ball to save his life. But you know Mac has been working really hard at NOT hitting that deep ball, so I guess the joke is on them!!! :haha:

There’s a reason why the Pats are seeing a lot of Cover 1 and Cover 1 robber. It neutralizes what they do best, running and the screen game to get YAC and they can blitz anytime they want. The way to beat it is to get good fast receivers spread wide to create problems downfield or to have a guy like Meyers (*ahem*) that can catch flat routes. The Pats at the moment can’t do either. Mac can’t hit receivers like Parker downfield when they try to break cover 1 not that Parker can get separation anyway, their running is putrid and there are plenty of mismatches up front with all those bodies up there. It’s tough.

Makes me think that BOB is not what he was billed to be when he re-joined the team. Certainly an upgrade over last year anyone would be but it’s stunning his offense looks helpless against this scheme.

He looks slower and way more tentative to me. Almost like he’s turned into more Maroney than Blount…
He doesn't trust the blocking or lack there of.. whenever he does make a good run they stupidly go away from him. He needs to get in a rhythm.

It doesn't help that none of our receivers can get open. Juju is running in quicksand and I swear anytime I see parker he's got some guy draped all over him.

Bourne has been okay I guess. But he too doesn't get open often.

A puny 2.7 yards per carry today, bringing our rushing YPC stats down to 3.2. Just 1 TD.

I did some research…3.2 YPC over the season would be statistically the worst rushing offense in the NFL in 10 years. Ravens were at 3.1 in 2013 and it’s only week 5 so there’s plenty of time to be under them too.

So WTF. Rham looks nothing like the guy he looked like last year, the offensive line can’t run block… anything else. Much harder to have any semblance of offense when you can’t run… especially when you have a GM who built a roster whose strength is supposed to be running not passing.
Does the General Manager know this?

Some people still think Mac is the best option.
A turd might the best option when the other turds available smell worse....

He has 2 3rd down running backs.

Wrong. Totally and completely Wrong. Only in some kind of Slow, Poor-Hands Fat-Ass universe would Rham Tough(to gain yards) be considered a 3rd-Down Back.

Zeke is closer to being one, but still not that much closer.

He was fine last year. Zeke may be the best pass blocking rb in the nfl.

Square peg in a round hole one night in his dreams BB is going to fit that.

I made a thread about getting the running game going being the solution last week. I haven't been able to re-watch film to see what formations we're running against. This OL should definitely be able to run the ball against any sort of current day nickle or dime package. I'd like to know what percent of snaps we're seeing against man versus zone. With the dreadful QB play we've seen my hunch is that we're primarily playing against stacked boxes and man coverage because nobody is afraid of Mac and our WRs.

The other problem is that Henry and Gesicki are below average blockers. I also think NO might have a pretty good front seven.

When you have zero fear that the passing game is going to do anything to you, its pretty easy to stop the run.

SB1 is truly puzzled by this phenomenon and has been hard at work researching to derive the root cause.

He is very close to figuring it out too.
