Trading multiple 1sts to move up for a guy…Yeah I think the context is important though. Just saw Allen go from truly one of the worst college QBs ever (off the charts bad accuracy) and Mahomes go from mid round prospect to superstar. Both guys really raw and lots of skeptics and teams willing to take chances for the athleticism/arm talent even with the bust risk. But I think Jones is a good pick. Chances of success in NFL is always low at QB position…even if be winds up as a highly competent backup or fringe starter that’s a good return for a QB while retaining your draft capital.
We need better emojis Ian. I miss all the old ones. Need an ouch for this one.Woody’s been there before.
I couldn't imagine being there for that.Jete fans:
Well that was 4 hall of fame quarterbacks the media are too quick to put Burrow, Allen, Hurts near the Mahomes level. While Mahomes is really great, there’s no way Allen, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert etc. are as great as the previous next in line elites (after Brady) like Manning, Rodgers, and Brees. These guys have a lot of warts, all of them. Very inconsistent. Burrow is getting there but still not at the elite standard of the previous generation.
Makes Sam Darnold look like a probowler.Zach Wilson isn't just bad he's not in the league in 2 years bad.
We did the first couple.Wish we got this Josh Allen the last couple of years.
If you think about the proven QBs in the league right now, the only ones that a team could not have obtained without a top 3 pick are Burrow and Lawrence. All of the other QBs picked that high have busted to some extent or another. (I’m sure if you want Kyler than Arizona would be eager to deal). And the only high profile free agents/trades were Cousins, Watson, and Rodgers. Teams are getting great QB play from the medium high 1st round pick zone of 5-15, which is where Tua, Herbert, Mahomes, Allen, and Watson came from. And then beyond that with Jackson, Dak, etc. These days at least it’s not “tank for the first pick or bust.”Taking that risk in the mid 1st is totally understandable though. Trading multiple 1sts to move up for a guy…
Time to use that FLEX rule… I think they expanded how often they can flex this yearI wonder how the networks feel now about 5 prime time games featuring Zach Wilson.
