Same theme is occurring the last few years.

“Defense is good”

“If only he didn’t make that mistake”

I don’t think this game moved the needle for me either way on how I feel about Mac’s future after this season.

I already knew he is a decent starter in this league with an NFL level offense and coaching staff, we already saw that in his rookie season. But can he get to the next level? Can he win a game with his arm when the system collapses and the defense lets him down? TBD and haven’t seen it yet respectively. I need to see more than this if he’s the guy.

Shame Corral is AWOL. I’m intrigued by the thought of how much he could push Mac for the job if given the opportunity. Zappe is not legit competition for Mac but Corral might be if he was right. Anyway that’s a conversation for later.

Sucks to lose but a lot to be encouraged by. If you told me before the game that Parker, Jack Jones, Onwenu and Strange would all be out today, Mac would throw a pick 6, but they'd only lose by 5 and were in position to win at the end, I'd have been in shock. Bill should've kicked the short field goal towards the end of the 4th and it would've been a different outcome in all likelihood.
Philly probably wouldn't have gone for it on four down if the score was within a field goal.

Kudos to Mafi and Sow for holding up as well as they could.
They were shaky. Mafi was beaten like a drum a few times, esp. early. Calvin Anderson was great—until the holding penalty late in the fourth.

the most stunning part - IMO - a much maligned OL that had never played together as a group of 5 holds up. I think Mafi and Sow need to be considered going forward regardless of who’s back. The OT did their job as well and the entire group deserves kudos.

Some have been too down on Mac. But, there is no question that he needs to get some late wins. He’s had opportunity. If he is in a close game with a chance to grab the win, he needs to do so. And, despite showing promise at times, if he cannot get the job done late, the team needs to reevaluate. The League does have parity. Getting key plays at key times is often the difference.

Playing with 4 rookies on offense, 2 of them in the OL and outgained the supposed best team in the NFC by 130 yards and the difference in the game was a pick-6 partly because it was raining. I'm sure people will doom but this will be a better team than people thought it would be.

Gonzalez outside of 1 stumble was very good today. Douglas and Boutte seem like they could be factors in the offense this season.

We're close but not quiet there yet. We're gonna have to win those tight ones. Mac is gonna have to "find a way to win" like this other quaterback we used to have in situation like this. I suspect there's gonna be other opportunity for him to prove he has a clutch gene.

I'm fine with going for it there, you need to try to take the lead before running that defense back on the field again to try to lock it down. I thought the playcalling on 3rd and 4th down were absolute dogshit.

I get why people would be encouraged by this win - but this isn't a rebuilding team anymore. They need Ws, and this was a W that they gave away. A 'better-looking' 8-9 isn't acceptable. Tua threw for like 500 yards today, and he'll be here next week.

Yes, the defense is elite. Yes, the offense looked better, penalties cleaned up - but conversely, you handed the Eagles 13 points in the first quarter. You're not going to win games doing that. And you need to be able to adjust your playcalling faster when the other team is sitting on screens and spot screens.
I do think they're well positioned for 2024 - a lot of rookies looking good today, a lot of cap space available in the coming couple seasons they can tap into for more additions. Conversely, Miami/Buffalo will be struggling with their cap situations and the Jets won't have much either.

The moral of this game. kick the field goal on 4th down Bill.

Very much an example of "players win games, coaches lose them"

Why they went for it on 4th instead of taking the 3 is beyond me.
Inexcusable. Kick the FG with 6 minutes (roughly) left and then again on the 4th and 12 and they win this game.

I completely agree - the only issue with that is - that's the whole window. It's this year and next year if Mac is your QB, after that, the road gets a lot harder.

This is the best I have felt after a loss in a long time.

1. This defense is legit.
2. This OL and Coach Klemm may just be pretty good.
3. Mac showed flashes of what he can be. Cleaning up stupid mistakes and inconsistencies will determine his fate.

A **** ton of rookies played important roles in this game against the best team in the NFC. They will only get better.

I'm frustrated not winning a very winnable game. However, I am also not going to take a giant **** on the moral victory positives I take from this game.....as long as we start winning these types of games as the season goes on.

I was watching the game at a bar and having a meeting with an organization I'm in, so I was in and out of paying attention. When that play call came up, I had to double take the game clock like 3/4 times to make sure I was reading the remaining time right. That's how confused I was.

Zeke looks like a great signing.
In spite of the fumble (which was partially because of one of Mac's Garbage 1st Quarter Special Throws), he's the MVP of the game on offense. Next-level pass protection.

As long as your last sentence comes true, I'll retroactively accept this as a moral victory.

D was really impressive.

O line better than expected.

WR’s up and down.

Mac made a few but also threw some abysmal throws.

BB was not great with situations IMO.

Beat Dolphins next week( tall order), and this one won’t be a big deal.
We’re winning that game
