I have to say I was very pleased with pass blocking on the OL.
Haven't watched any replays, but the 2 Rookies didn't suck.
Run blocking was a disaster - but again, the Eagles DL is considered one of the top 2 or 3.

When Mac got in rhythm and his guys weren't playing hot potato, things already looked so much better than last year.
We have to be optimistic.

In case after watching how unclutch Mac is, he wants to come back and the Pats might have a chance to actually complete a comeback.
Derp. How clutch is Mac if Boutte drags his foot on 4th down? How clutch is he if all we need is a field goal to win after we passed up a 40 yarder with 9 mins left in the game? I'm honestly beginning to entertain the Bill is washed up talk more than the Mac blame

Yes and no. Mac has 2023 and 2024 on his deal with cheap prices, and can be optioned for a 5th year at less than $30M for 2025. Then he can be franchise tagged if needed for 2026 which might be around $30M. By 2026 that won't be so killer for a starting QB. It means if the Pats aren't sold on Mac as the "long term guy" they can still play it out for the next 4 seasons while looking around for something better, at a cost of probably less than $70M total across those 4 years. And if you find a better option sometime in there, you can trade Mac to get the contract off the books. But hopefully, he instead establishes himself as "the guy". Either way, that's not TOO much of a hit to your cap when you have so much space and so many guys on rookie deals as starters.
I think the tag will be more than 30, but I get your point.

The reason I see the shorter window isn't necessarily just from the QB. The defense is going to start to age out in some important positions in the next couple of years. Kyle Dugger's already 27. Jon Jones turns 30 in a couple weeks. Matt Judon's 31, Peppers will be 28 in a month, Adrian Phillips is 31, Jalen Mills is 29. Deatrich Wise is 29. Lawrence Guy is already 33, Godchaux will be 29 in November. Sure, you can replace these guys, and maybe you get better guys, maybe you get similar, but as well all know, it doesn't always work that way.

No moral victories, just matter of facts.

Facts:

We shut down one of the most dynamic offenses in the league.

We moved the ball well against one of the best defenses of the league.

Make shift oline gave us a shot. Shout out Klemm.

We were 2 plays short of pulling out a W. Have to be better.

Go pats.

We're done with the moral victories. This is year 4 of a rebuild process.

Mac arm strength isn't NFL acceptable. These floating or soft entry tosses ain't gonna cut it. Nor is his pocket awareness where hes taking sacks in extremely important possessions.

Wtf is Bill doing with his decisions? He made more than a handful of mistakes today.

Just cause Mac doesn't look great doesn't mean his WR didn't have their own problems. It's more of the same. Balls hitting hands ending up on the ground.

They had a **** ton of chances to win that game and they blew every single one in glorious fashion.
His arm strength is just fine, he was sacked twice all game against a sack happy defense. In that situation just don't give the ball away.

I'll also add we need to do a better job running the ball.

Sow is definitely ahead of Mafi. Both have ability, esp Sow. Mafi struggles in pass protection.
Was shocked by how good Sow looked. Might want to keep him on the field, but he's playing Onwenu's role. Onwenu to RT?

His arm strength is dog ****. It's either floating or taking 6 weeks to delivery.

Can we not just throw blanket statements like "it was only 2 sacks" against what I assume you mean is essentially one of the best defenses?

You can't just ignore the context that the two sacks directly affected the end of the game. Mac didn't make the adjustment and didn't get rid of the ball.

While Mac’s arm is weak, Brock Purdy has a noodle arm as well, but looked very good today. The difference is he has a great offensive mind, a supporting cast that can get open and has led the NFL in YAC since 2018.

The Pats offense always looks like a struggle to get downfield. They have to play mistake free football and rely on the defense to make a play. That’s not going to cut it. Mac needs help.

We lost and a loss next week pretty much would decide the season.

So ya. No moral victories.
