Patriots Player Departure Official 2023 Patriots Roster Cutdown Thread (final roster in opening post)

Why is it depressing? A good draft is 3 guys. We still have 5, plus Wheatley who Strong was traded for, so 6. Looks like 4 to 6 will stick which is a fabulous draft.

It might turn out to be a fine draft, but I was referring to where I thought we were after the season ended.

I was going to start a thread about last year's draft class, but it is depressing.

Had high hopes for many of these players when last season ended.
Not really bad, unless Thornton busts (which wouldn't surprise me). People overestimate rookie impact all the time. Buffalo grabbed a couple of mid-rounders in 21 they just traded for a bag of beans.

This year's class looks way better on paper so far.

Just a reminder to anyone getting excited about their binky bubble guys making the 53. The Boutte’s and Roberts’ of the world. Bill likes to do some weird **** and none of them are safe until they are.
Indeed. Lots of guys who make it through the first pass league-wide are gonna find that some other team cut a guy who their team thinks is better than them.

OK. I understand. I think Strange, Jones, Jones, Roberts, and Wheatley will stick. Maybe TT - the jury is still out on him. Maybe Ja Jones does not make it. Either way 2021 was a good draft with 4 or 5 guys sticking. I am high on Roberts, the guy is a beast and needs to learn. Reminds me of Wise Jr.

Looked like that last year too. We’ll see! Hope so.
Not really (to me). Strange, sure. Never liked the Thornton pick and was pleasantly surprised by Jones and Jones. Liked Roberts and hope he sticks.
If you get three starters out of any draft - Jones, Jones, Strange - that's a pretty good draft.

This year, the drafted OL look a lot better than the ones they drafted last year. Barring injury, their first 3 picks look like absolute keepers in Gonzo, White and Mapu; they got a boomer punter and a kicker; and a pair of WRs who look like they can pla well in the NFL.
And this isn't counting Speed and Bolden (who I have high hopes for).

Which guys did you expect more from?

Get Stueber back on the practice squad and at a position other than left tackle. Hines seemed to be improving at the end of camp too, just too little too late. Like Belichick said today, getting released often isn’t the end. Cam Fleming, for example, was released at this point in his career and went on to start 20 games for the Patriots including a Super Bowl.

how many more spots or cuts are there to be announced?

Troy Brown was cut his 2nd year

Pitts out. Doesn’t this mean the Patriots UDFA roster streak ends today?

Pierre Strong
Bailey Zappe
Kevin Harris
Jack Jones
T Thornton
I expected little or nothing from the RBs.
Jones and Thornton are still on the team.

They could still sign a UDFA before opening day, right?

Question is who’s QB2 and RB 3?

I vote for Zon Knight who the jets released at RB.
For QB im going Will Grier.
Also it looks like we should of held on to Stiddy,
Any prying Drew Lock from Seattle for cheap?
If not I’m good with Will Grier or trying to get the Phins to trade us Skylar Thompson.

Jones and Thornton are still on the team.

I expected one of the RBs to pop.

It's not that Jones or Thornton can't still be good players, but they have been trending down.

Two 4th rounders from the previous year is a lot to be cut.

You said from the end of last season. We haven’t played a game how can players be trending down?
