Does this spell the end of the year for Ty Montgomery?
So, it seems like our "3rd Down" back role will be a mix of Strong & Douglas?

Not looking great for Ty at the moment, but last year with Stevenson, Harris, and Montgomery (for week 1) they seemed to be trading off drives rather than having an "early down back" and "3rd down back". Stevenson would be in for a drive/series, then Harris, then Montgomery, etc. So replace Harris with Elliot, and they may still do something like that.

But I expect Rham to be the most heavily used all purpose back, with Elliot coming in to do short yardage situations and spell him some on passing downs. If they get good contributions from Strong, K. Harris, or Ty, that's all gravy.

Not sure Bill will pay someone up to $6M to be a short yardage and a passing down back. Zeke will get a lot of playing time. Less than half for sure but more than some might think.

Oh sure, I didn't mean exclusively, just that I see those being his most impactful areas. He should get regular carries too.

Last season, he ranked fifth in the percentage of his rushes that went for zero or negative yards. And he converted 8 of 11 goal line opportunities with 3 yards or less to go.

Last year the chapter on play-action passes got inexplicably mislaid from our playbook. This year it's going to be front and center. A big back who can pass protect at a high level, catch and make some tough yards is a fantastic complement to Rhamondre. Zeke will threaten to run over a light box, and so play action becomes that much more enticing.

I think Kevin Harris goes back to the PS after this move another year to get his act together.
I think it depends on the health of Montgomery, there's a pretty good chance the team carries 4 RB's going into week 1. I know Monty is listed at WR but we know he fills that 3rd down back role.

I completely agree. I think a lot of folks are underestimating the potential he brings. He had 230 carries last year for over 800 yards. And that is with Pollard getting 190 carries. Everyone acts like he fell off a cliff. I am not sure what they are watching? Is he going to give you 300 carries anymore? No, but he is good for 200+ carries and 800 yards and double digit TDs if you need him to.

The numbers are kinda similar between Rham and Pollard:

Rham: 210/1040/5.0/5 (TDs)
Tony: 193/1007/5.2/9 (TDs)
-------------------------------
Zeke: 231/876/3.8/12 (TDs)

Zeke dropped a half yard per carry from 2021-2022, I would not call that a cliff or say he is done.

If healthy I could easily see:

Rham get 250/1200
Zeke get 200/750

Plus, the battering ram in the red zone that you have to account for. And or put both in the backfield and force the D to account for Gisecki, Henry, Parker, Thornton, Rham and Zeke that really spreads the field horizontally and vertically height wise. ****, hate to throw it in there, but what if they do put in a red zone package for Malik.

Thats a lot of **** for a DC to account for.

One other thing to note is that if Rham goes down for a game or two, the style of running doesn't change.

I'm on board!

Oh and the prove it factor can never be overstated. Zeke will be looking to shut up a lot of doubters.

Yeah and Monty often fits the often injured role too.

Well.. it wouldn't be a bad thing. The PS is very useful for teams now. Can always activate guys as needed on game day. So I'm thinking rham and zeke are the 1-2 punch.. strong jr is the change up back. Not bad!

It's mystifying.. McMillan and Ty both signed and got hurt 2 seasons in a row.. McMillan just got an extension. I really want to see a healthy ty he's a match up nightmare.

Did we forget about this one? Ezekiel Elliot pulls down a girls shirt and exposes her. This guy is a real piece of schiit. Consistent with Christian Peter, Jack Jones, Aaron Hernandez and the numerous other scofflaws who've spent time at Route One in Foxboro....

If Krafty Bob has an ounce of integrity he will renege this signing - unless he thinks this is OK

Liked the signing yesterday, today I love it! An accomplished back who in Dallas offense last few season was pass happy. Didn't help that zeke was hurt a few times during that span. I believe he's a great fit in our scheme. He's still young at 28.. Same age that Dillon was when he signed

Hence we see Dallas this season I'm sure he's going to be super ready that game!

Kraft clearly has no problem with Hookers....probably not going to stop this signing.
