I was commenting on comparing Zappe with MontanaMontana's arm wasn't strong enough either... you obviously don't remember.
"Loudly"... "quietly"... I see what they did there. LolLOL: Sara Marshall == a different MusketFire writer -- just completely contradicted Gregoire:
Mac Jones is loudly winning the Patriots' quarterback battle
As the Patriots continue training camp this week, calls for Bailey Zappe to become QB1 should be silenced. Mac Jones is the starting QB and will be for 2023.musketfire.com
Evidently Patricia forgot to ask him to throw an INT.
Oh yeah, well your boy gets to go head to head vs Rodgers game # 2.
Unlike you I wont cast blame on other people because the Pats lost.
Zappe earned a seat at the table. Maybe he can play better and maybe he can play worse. Its all up to him when the chance comes.
Brady and the Pats started out 3-0 where analysts were hyping up the Pats as the best team in the NFL at that time. Then the 4 game skid happened. Even though they barely escaped the Chiefs, **** Vermeil found the leak in the Pats D relentlessly running with Priest Holmes. Marty Schottenheimer did the same thing with LT and infamously said the way to beat Brady was to get him "off of his spot". Opposing teams kept running the same running plays that season.
Tom was clearly better in year 2, but there were games he didn't show up like against GB, Denver, at Miami, at TENN Oakland and the biggest game against the Jets at home on national TV.
Bledsoe initially did play well, but it was a small minority that questioned whether they traded the wrong guy. But then you had the season opener in 2003 and it came up again. That question was answered fairly quickly that season.
Yeah those were stinkers. Also the Chicago game might have been the coming out party for him as a great QB and a guy who could carry this team after all..Brady and the Pats started out 3-0 where analysts were hyping up the Pats as the best team in the NFL at that time. Nobody is comparing Zappe to Brady in terms of talent.Jarrett StidhamBailey Zappe who had an unfavorable draft profile, was drafted late. Tom Brady who had an unfavorable draft profile, was drafted late.
Therefore obviously that meansStidhamZappe is the next Brady and the Patriots are doing themselves and us fans a disservice by keeping a guaranteed superstar QB on the bench.
This tidbit of binky cheerleader logic makes perfect sense, no? Lol. Lol.
I was comparing him and Mac to every QB in history who media draft experts told us had a weak arm yet led successful careers anyway.I was commenting on comparing Zappe with Montana
I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying all the blame shouldn't go on Tom for him being inconsistent as you said. Sure he was flawed, but he was a 3rd year player (2nd year starter) coming off of the Super Bowl hangover with a target on their back and a bad defense with limited playmakers on offense. They were lucky to be 9-7.I am not going to rehash 2002 anymore. I stated what I thought and if I am wrong I am wrong. It was 21 years ago. I didn't want to turn this into another endless rehash of Brady from two decades ago which happens too much when we talk about QBs.
Raiders game as well.Yeah those were stinkers. Also the Chicago game might have been the coming out party for him as a great QB and a guy who could carry this team after all..
Yeah seemed like every good running back was lighting them up that year. I think the Titans game showed the team had too many holes to go any further than they did.
"Loudly"... "quietly"... I see what they did there. Lol
The "battle" is a figment of the imagination. Jones is the starter and barring injury or if his game craters this season he will remain that way. Full stop.
Our defense is stout and elite??? Really? They feast on backup QBs yet struggle against starting caliber QBs.Xfl is
Mac is thre starting QB for this organization.. everyone knows it. We have a good backup in Zappe.. most teams would love to have such a " dilemma " all Zappe is , is insurance in case Mac gets hurt and has to miss time. His value is only high here in this offense.
To be fair to both QBs they have been going up against a our stout, elite defense. That now has the presence of gonzo..Nothing is going to be easy for them both..
Truly hilarious. And I am not casting blame. In fact, I would be casting blame on Patricia and Belichick for overmanaging Zappe in that game rather than trying to throw a little more caution into the wind and trying to win at the end of the game if I was.
I questioned Troy’s capabilities as a coach for most of last year.
He did a crap job coaching Thornton. Most of Thornton’s biggest issues last year were coachable things. He had poor sideline management. He would stop on routes and look for the ball when the situation calls for him to keep running. Yet, he kept doing them.
And when he was asked about the issues with spacing of the receiver routes where they were so bad that receivers were running into each other, Troy said he had not problem with the spacing. That tells me he wasn’t addressing a clear issue with the route running last year.
Troy is one of my all time favorite Patriots player. He was the epitome of the Patriot Way and played far better than his physical talent level. But that doesn’t mean he is a good coach. A lot of great players make horrible coaches.
Jones is still a developmental guy too - at least he better be because if last year is Jones at his best then we should just cut him right now.Regarding the embarrassing Bears game: Mac was still hurt and should not have played at all . Zappe looked good until the Bears made and adjustment (not covering our RB with a LB) and then he was toast. Zappe is still a developmental guy. This will come to light when he plays in a pre-season game in the near future.
Ok so thier not stout? Thier not elite? Yes really.. I'll agree they have struggled against top tier QBs and WRs.. that is the only question on them.. can they slow top offenses this season.. but in 2023 NFL standards.. yes... they are a stout defense. Our defense is stout and elite??? Really? They feast on backup QBs yet struggle against starting caliber QBs.
Truly hilarious.
You didnt call out the WRs in May?
I think this is big. For all the talk last year about the o-line and Jones last year, the receiving corp was awful last year. Bad route running. Not looking back for the ball. Not finishing routes. Poor sideline management.
Then you took a chunk out of Troy Brown
This is only 1 thread of blame about 10 posts deep.
There are hundreds and maybe thousands of posts like these blaming everyone except K0ckeyed Mac.
What? Our defense is stout and elite??? Really? They feast on backup QBs yet struggle against starting caliber QBs.
