(Edited Title:) Writer thinks Zappe is winning the QB "battle"?

Similar to your boy Jones after all those INTs.
Like I said this year will decide if Jones is the guy or not.

Zappe to date doesn’t have an NFL level arm. There’s a good reason why he was projected to be drafted late and have a ceiling of backup QB.

Also whether Mac is the answer or not isn’t really related to anything about Zappe.
It was only the game where BB would pass George Halas if NE won.
Dunno about that having an impact the team was just terrible that night on both sides of the ball. Zappe vomiting all over himself on the field sure quieted all those Zappe chants in a hurry didn’t he. Lol

You have a dislike for Patriots backup QB’s.

I like Zappe. There’s things about Zappe I like better than Mac like his attitude. Seems to be more humble too. Definitely a lot better than Stidham… that throne pic rubbed me the wrong way.

It comes down to fan hype I think. I don’t get this logic pushed by a lot of fans that drafting a late round QB automatically puts you on the path to a Super Bowl if you start him. Why? Because Tom Brady.

Tom Brady is not happening again.

Old news.

If you cant believe the draft gurus who can you believe.

The sooner the Pats have solid QB play the faster this team gets back to being a winner.

And then the Bills came to Foxboro and booing Mac was fun.

Looks spot on to me based on what we’ve seen so far.

I agree. Hopefully Mac gives them this or they have to move on and it’s right back on the QB merry go round like most other teams. A high ceiling QB pick in the next draft should be priority.

They were booing the whole offense. But ya not so much chanting when their conquering hero Zappe got schooled and exposed by the 32nd ranked Bears defense. Yikes. Surprised all those footballs being batted to the turf didn’t make divots.

Absolutely correct, by that time fans had had enough of the barnum and Bailey offense last season. And it was just frustrating to watch. Probably the worst patriots offense ever displayed was last season.

Want to bet Goodell ordered one?

Article written by a "Journalist" or by a Journalist??
What journalist chops does Gregoire have in the real world?? This is just more clickbait..

The fact that Jones has proven nothing.

Hold on Mel Kiper.

We have seen 4 games.

I blame Patricia and the OL for that.

most articles/journalists I have read have said Mac is clearly the QB#1 during camp and there isn't really a battle going on. so we can end this argument now.

Reiss said zappe may look like he had better completion percentage at times because he's just checking down most of the time playing against the #2's. while Mac is taking more difficult throws in camp.

This website is garbage. There's no indication of a true QB battle, Mac goes first and takes reps with the 1s, but from everything I've heard and read thus far from training camp I wouldn't say the consensus is that Mac has outperformed Zappe or looked decidedly like the better player. I think today will tell us a whole lot because Zappe is reportedly coming off a very strong practice so if he gets some reps with the 1s maybe that theory will hold some merit. As of now, I don't think there's any reason to speculate in that direction, but what I'll say is that there's a chance they're close enough in camp that Mac's job could potentially be in jeopardy if he performs poorly for an extended stretch in season.

Ok it’s not a reliable article. I’m not gonna crap on Zappe. He is a backup we are lucky to have and did more than hold down the fort last season. I’m a fan.

Based on his twitter posts the author of the article is a Zappe cheerleader. Even brought out the classic line that Brady was also drafted late lol. Too funny. Comparing Zappe to Brady is laughable and so is the logic that if you bench your starter and play your backup drafted late in the first round that automatically must mean you're on your way to a Super Bowl or a dynasty. Lol. It was the same nonsense we heard about Stidham...

The fact that Jones has proven nothing.
Jones has one good season under his belt finishing runner up for rookie of the year, and one terrible season with little talent on offense and bad coaching around him. He's not absolved from blame for last year but I think he's shown enough to warrant a third year and then decisions can be made. If he's not the guy he will not be extended and the Patriots will look elsewhere. It shouldn't be hard to find an upgrade over Zappe, at least the Zappe we've seen so far.

1 good game (padded bigtime by YAC), 2 meh games and one awful game against the worst defense in the league. That is typical for an NFL backup. I'm glad he held things down but Cooper Rush and Mike White looked better in their stints as starters than Zappe did. Just sayin. Until they were exposed too. They usually are in the end.
I blame Patricia and the OL for that.
Zappe's many flaws as a passer were still on display in front of a national audience. And I don't remember the last time the Patriots had the tar kicked out of them by a 3 win team at home. That was embarrassing and so were the Zappe chants.

My favorite part might be:
Don’t believe the Mac Jones hype machine, pumping out content as fast as they can. There is only one truth: thanks to training camps being open to the public, you can see it for yourself.

The irony seems to have been lost on the "journalist". I don't think Wayne from Revere is a journalist in any sense of the word.

One thing I find really weird with this fanbase is this determination that the Bears game was a disaster for Zappe and displayed his inability to be a QB in this league, when fact is it was just a run of the mill bad performance, of the likes Mac (and pretty much every other young QB) has had multiple times in his career. I mean, I don't think he should start for the Patriots and if anything his ceiling is even lower than Mac's, but it's just funny to see that game be used as this definitive example of Zappe's flaws. It's like saying Mac Jones should never start for the team again after the New Orleans game at home in 2021.
