TC ROSTER TALK

I believe between the media and the panic and despair on the forum from some.. they won't even get to 1 win according to them..
????

Who said anything about the media?

Kyed should be placed on verbal warning for tweeting about players' weight changes and not listing Trent Brown...
Lol true. I looked before posting and noticed it’s still 370…but who really knows what it is.

In training camp, he showed up at a considerably higher weight, and he couldn't move that well.

More weight around the middle. He had eaten himself into a problem.
I get that people said that but the guy is 6'8 and like 350 minimum. I hesitate to take the word of some reporter watching from the sidelines trying to explain why he hasn't played as well the last few years compared to his first few here. Without a scale and regular knowledge of his weight year to year I'm not sure anyone can tell 350+ from 370+ with any certainty.

???

There were fans there, there were videos, we saw him. He couldn't move. He was enormous. He was not the same Trent Brown. It was blindingly obvious. This has nothing to do with the media.

One of the lame things about this board is people don't ask questions and just assume their fellow posters are bamboozled by the media.

I like it.. great post. Only thing rham is already established he is an all purpose back. He was basically the offense last season.

But great post!!
Yes, but I said "one of the leagues top all-around backs".
He has everything to do it, but can he crack the top 5 with McCaffrey, Jacobs, Henry, Chubb, Barkley

Not Kyed's fault. He didn't list Brown because his weight was so off the charts it wouldn't fit

Same thing a bunch of guys going out memory of he looks bigger than last year blah blah blah. Besides his best play last year came earlier in the year before whatever illness struck him.

I didn't mean to insist the media bamboozled anyone my point is he a huge man his shape isn't gonna look good. It the fact that he can move at that shape that makes him who he is.

Trent will be fine if the rest of the OL steps up. If they don't he'll probably be inconsistent again.

All those greats backs you've mentioned have something in common.. they are all often injured.. because the the carries they take. Rham just has to be able to not be overloaded like he was Last season and he will match or surpass those guys IMO. Under BOB he will be more of a focal point in passing situations as well.

22 lbs for Douglas, 14 for Mapu, 19 for Godchaux

I think it’s important to be skeptical of a lot of these “before” weights. Often, the Pats just use whatever the previous team (whether NFL or college) listed the player at. For example, Kendrick Bourne was listed at 190 in 2016 at Eastern Washington, 190 throughout his 49ers career, and 190 the last two years with the Patriots. However, we have a confirmed weight of 203 for him at the 2017 combine. I’m guessing he hasn’t actually been 190 as an NFL player if he was up 13 pounds from that before even entering the NFL.

I saw video of him. He was actually much bigger than ever before. What I saw was a frightful sight. It was of someone unable to move.

Put it this way. He reminded me of those 6'8" - 6'10" 450 pound Americans who aren't playing football.

Has CG been signed yet?

Has CG been signed yet?
No, but it should get done. McDonald (15th) just signed yesterday, leaving Forbes (16th) and Gonzalez as the only two unsigned guys left in the mid-1st.

Lots of extra beef!! Keion White is a big man, like that the Jones' put some on, and Mapu.

Tyquan Thornton is arguably the second most important player on the team behind Mac Jones entering training camp.

Devante Parker - one of the worst separators in the league, injury prone
JuJu Smith-Schuster - a below average WR vs. man coverage & one of the best YAC WRs in the NFL. He’s someone you want as a #2 & making plays vs. zone coverage
Kendrick Bourne - wildcard. Has displayed playmaking ability but still has only one season in 6 years producing as a WR2

The passing game is limited on 3rd down. The QB can’t make plays running & there is no #1 option again. Who is Mac suppose to target on 3rd downs when opposing teams are in man?

Thornton has to develop in a starting WR & someone that keeps safeties back IMO. He had a good training camp last year & showed some ability in the preseason before injury.
I am intrigued by Thornton this year.
Last year so many plays he ran less then 10 yards and
pretty much stopped ... by design ... I commented on it then ...
like at least use him as a decoy but they were too confounded on how to use 'Omaha'.

WR Tre Nixon showed signs last TC and fizzled out with drops in the end: he looks like has some short area quickness along with sneaky deep speed. Would be nice if he made that improved jump. I am pretty sure we are carrying Five WR's so Five guys might be battling for one spot. One or both of the Douglas - Boutte should make the PS when it's all said and done unless they play lights out.
This is Tre’s second second year jump, right?

from his bio I see a trend:
He was waived on August 31, 2021 and re-signed to the practice squad.
On August 30, 2022, Nixon was waived by the Patriots and signed to the practice squad the next day.

so I predict this year he will be waived on August 29, 2023, then resigned to the practice squad….
