Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

Well right now he is a number 4

Go look up the stats of number 4 WRs (and number 3 too). And get back to us
I don't deny those numbers are for wr4. Was hoping he would be a wr1 or wr 2 based on potential . Sadly looks like he will be wr4 which doesn't evoke too much positive reaction for a second rounder .

And now don't come back with a homer hat and say that the probability of second rounder becoming a bonafide receiver are low. I get that. It's just a slight anticipation tah we could have any one receiver pan out from draft . Every team seems to get an electric wr from draft over the years . Sadly we just draft duds or middle tier ones.

It’s his first year in the league and he had an incompetent offense .

So anyone who looks at facts and thinks he should have more than one year to prove himself is a homer

What a take that is

Not sure I understand why he has not taken another visit. Is it that he does not want to or the rest of the NFL don’t think he is any good anymore? Other than AZ, TN, and NE, why has he not visited the Bills as an example? Stefon Diggs can wreck that team any moment .

Usually the players only visit if the team has a reasonable offer on the table.

I dont think there are any other offers out there. I think at this point he's just sitting around hoping some team comes and offers more. but its looking more likely by the day that that is not going to happen.

I think he wants around 20 million per, and no team wants to go more than 15.

seems like he's going to wait until the last possible minute "just in case" then end up signing with the patriots.

I just don't see a team going into all the effort to clear $20million in space to sign Hopkins at this point. He had no interest during the trade deadline, and had minimal interest after he was cut. This is all grasping at straws at this point.

It is a lot to pay for a "constested-catch" guy and the Patriots already have a contested catch guy. Throwing to such a WR is always dangerous because if he loses the "contest", well you know. The Patriots need burners and quick-twitchers who can get separation. Maybe they have that with Tyquon Thornton and Demario Douglas, although Thornton will probably get injured and Douglas may have trouble picking up the system. OK, I know that this is all obvious stuff, but I had to say it....I would not object to signing DHop, I just hope it does not upset the lockeroom and I sure hope he decides to practice.

D-Hop caught 66% of the balls thrown to him. Contested or uncontested. Good QBs place the ball where the DB isn't.

Additionally good 50/50 WRs ensure the D-back isn't picking off the ball. They knock it down. That is what D-Hop does well.

If you want to poo-poo the pot'l signing, the real concern is his age and how he is past his prime.

Hopkins being a contested catch guy alone is also sorely overstated. The guy gets open, for a guy his size he has great mobility and creates separation. You don’t post his type numbers without getting open.

Parker is more contested catch guy, having a Hopkins drawing coverage on the other side only enhances a contested catch guy like Parker… even if I thought they wouldn’t pay both.

It’s way too early to make assumptions about Tyquan or Douglass. Hopkins drawing coverage could make a burner like Thornton more effective and reduce the need to send him over the middle and take hits. He’s a rookie, skinny or not he needed to learn how to avoid unnecessary contact. Being slight doesn’t necessarily make him injury prone… the league is full of successful thin and undersized WR’s.

It fits the income tax bracket he’s looking for, great young Rookie QB. Offensive minded head coach in a division up for grabs.
I could see it.

Yes, it's all about age and the extent of his physical decline. I don't think his failed PED test is irrelevant either, especially at his age.

The WR system fit stuff is nonsense.and usually is on PF.

Tax stuff is relevant as most players look for the highest paycheck, but I doubt Hopkins wants to start over with a rookie QB or win a weak division. At Hopkins age he would want a decent, if not great QB, plus a shot at a SB. Unfortunately for him there is not a lot of interest from the Bills, Saints, Bengals, etc., at the salary level he is looking for (no visits scheduled). It appears as though Hopkins has a minimum salary point which the Pats and Titans are willing to meet, and after that the Pats are in a better situation to win than the Titans. It is usually not more complicated than that.

Waiting for Dhop to sign like(same for training camp too).....
