How Good Does Mac Have To Be To Get His Option Picked Up?

...excluding logo and uniform issues, feeble responses to historic unprecedented multiple league perpetrations of unfair competitive disadvantages, and pretending he had no involvement or authority to keep the GOAT around and at least be a career Patriot

It wouldn’t have made any difference if Krafted Brady to stay, he didn’t want to play for Belichick any more, and he wanted to go and try to win a Lombardi with another franchise:

Alex Jones played football?

It’s a popular opinion because Kraft mentioned Mayo as Belichick’s successor.

Alex smith...not sure how I made the error there

Oh he definitely wanted to (and did).

But I'm amazed as he is how the team (owner) did nothing to make him want to stay, let alone give him some tangible recognition or credit for what he did for the organization.

Rhetoric and banners aren't tangible.

Are you saying Brady wanted to stay?

BOB was a disaster as Houston’s GM. No thanks.
The Houston organization is a disaster period starting with the owner.. so won't fault BOB there. However I've made mention after the BB era.. RK isn't going to empower anyone else with what they have with BB.. So I believe unless something drastically changes mayo is the successor in waiting.. if not BOB them I can also see Matt groh in the GM role.. I'd be happy with that.. he can identify talent, and actually draft talent.

It's funny I don't believe Brady wanted to go.. but he likely wanted a change.. ( just my 2 cents lol)
It was a "you're giving me no choice but to do this" scenario.

Like with Parcells.

Kraft just ain't gonna exercise his authority over Belichick. He'll do what he does - blather rhetoric.

Agreed! Curran mentioned Brady wanted the Brees contract.. I believe he just wanted a change and grew weary of the rigors of the patriot way..

Sunday, September 24, in MetLife Stadium versus the Jets…we’ll learn if you’re right or not.
I've got news for you though, Belichick is not in the midst of building another dynasty. Too many misses in the draft and free agency. The new "franchise" quarterback isn't good enough, neither is his supporting cast, and the league is currently stacked with teams who have elite quarterbacks and at least above average supporting casts.
I think the Jets win that game, their first victory in 15 tries against the Patriots. It will be a definitive sign that the tide has turned in the AFC East. Someone else other than the Jets will be the doormat.

I'd say that about Gronk.

But Tom's a thoughtful, intelligent guy. Many could consider his departure a Parcells-like betrayal, except Tom succeeded more than Bill.

Brady gave the Patriots the chance to keep him and they said Sayonara. Egregious on the team's part, insulting him with such little regard for his effort and contributions and dedication and... common sense and sacrifice, being underpaid for the better part of two decades.

"Okay, keep your flying elvis, I'm outa here."

Agreed, I've said that.. the team was able to increase their value significantly during the championship era's due in large part by the success Brady brung them. Such a humble, selfless superstar he spoiled them with taking less for the greater good of the team. If you ever have time take a look at the Seth wickersham material as it's very telling.

A tougher test: how good does Mac have to be to get the trolls here off his back?

My guess that in the scenarios where Mac is extended, the trolls here will almost certainly violently complain unless he's the Second Coming.

He's probably not even aware, nor does he have the time to look at the comments that are made about him by anonymous posters.

However, he's fully aware of what the media says about him.

He knows this is a big year for him, so we'll see how he responds very soon.

I've mentioned all he needs to do is win and be Daniel jones.. not the actual QB but his production.. that will surely get Mac extended, and or option picked up. However if it wasn't for Mac who would the haters have to hate on.

Belichick clearly isn’t emptying the cupboards to try and win 14 games and a Lombardi this season, and yes, Parcells would be doing just that, and screwing them for the future if f he was in this position. And I’m not a Parcells hater by any means, he’s a HOF coach, and deservedly so, but Parcells didn’t look beyond the current season, and he blew uo the cap everywhere he went. But hey, at least this gave you something else to cry about. It’s been at least a few days since you had a good cry, so I’m glad you could get that out.
The problem is Parcells mortgaged the future and didn’t win a championship.
The only ones he won were when someone else was in charge of personnel. For all the Parcells team builder rhetoric you hear he never built a winner in spite of having mortgages the future.

Firstly, I'm not opposed to Belichick "going for one more Lombardi" in whatever form that takes. I don't care about his wins record. But another Lombardi would be great. I've got news for you though, Belichick is not in the midst of building another dynasty. Too many misses in the draft and free agency. So yeah, go after Hopkins at the expense of future capital, especially now that you've apparently hitched your wagon to Mac Jones... he needs all the help he can get. BB didn't do Mac any favors in the draft either. And I'm not so sure Mac is doing cartwheels over JuJu being brought in as a replacement for Meyers who undoubtedly was Mac's most reliable receiver. So there's not another dynasty in their future but I'll take an all in run at another Super Bowl. Problem with that is you have to get it completely right (like the 2021 Rams) and I'm not the sort of IBWT guy to think he can do it (especially at this latter stage of his dwindling career).
Wow, negativity. I’m shocked.

Daniel Jones sucks. He shouldn’t have been extended but the giants went from doormat to playoff pretender by winning a few close games early in the season before being themselves and going 3-6-1
Jones played like a 6-11 QB but got paid for the 6-1 fluke of a start.

I'll mention another name gino Smith.. he isn't a perennial all pro and he got paid too! Point I'm trying to make is Mac doesn't have to be perfect to get his option picked up. The salary for good QB play is what is it.. Dan Jones is the comparison I made from a PRODUCTION standpoint not the actual QB persay.
