DRAFT Kayshon Boutte

I assumed Boutte would be the more popular choice with most here to stick with the 53 instead of Douglas. What is your opinion of both if you don’t mind me asking ?
Tbh my opinion is based on the limited amount of public film highlights on both. I am not draft guru or college football tracking guru like BCG or others.

So you just have a hunch sometimes. My hunch tells me to roll with Douglas.

For instance I feel sam la porta would be the most successful TE of this draft . And in similar vein Douglas might shine more than Boutte as his skillsets are unique while Boutte is competing with Bourne or Juju . Rooting for both to succeed as both Bourne and Parker are free agents next season.

At least you agreed instead of arguing with yourself!

Imagine posting so much you don't even recognize your own posts - haha - or it could be the famous day drinking.

Having a bite to eat. Love the pick. Had a high 3rd on him. Long story short. Came out blazing, injury and didn't full recover. Didn't train for the combine properly and tested poorly. Boom or bust pick at this point but he can play. Back with more thoughts after I eat a few slices.

A.

T.

Perry.

Haha lol yeah well sometimes it's hard agreeing with myself lol

I have a hunch that we break the wr drafting jinx with demario. He is going to be the successor to Edelman. We are going to see great things from him this season. If tyquan breaks out I see Parker or Bourne to be traded away. If tyquan still shows the drops and inability to stretch the field with his speed, he is a prime IR candidate.

The potential with Douglas and Boutte is over the roof. But Douglas is the one I feel who will shine more, probably even more than Gonzalez / white. Somewhat have a similar rookie season like Onwenu or Marcus where you punch above your weight .

The level of competition for Douglas could be low, but boy ! He was consistently open and his jumping ability for his height is insane .
Just something to remember for anyone looking for the "next Edelman". Edelman was that overnight success 4 years in the making. Even Welker had 3 years as a no name to develop his game before he came to the Pats. Demario might very well be the next great slot receiver, BUT he's going to have to find other things he can do for a few years while he too develops.

I think you just outed yourself as having two accounts...

Been noticing for a while... his two accounts need to get a room, it gets weird sometimes

Well he did get in trouble for being involved in a gang bang with a female member of staff, which led to her being fired. So maybe that public embarrassment made him mature a bit?

It's only a rumor that he was involved. Also, it looks like she's going to be involved in some sort of lawsuit with LSU because she mentioned that her testimony will be revealing.

It's interesting that others who were supposedly involved haven't suffered any consequences. Not Hankton. Not Belton. And Phillips got a promotion of sorts by heading to be with Deion at Colorado.

IF his College separation translates he'll see the field sooner rather than later. The Pats saw him Up lose and personal in Shrine practices he maybe better than regarded.

Sure, he might be better than folks thought. He might have the quality of a 4th rounder. That would be great. That would mean that he would make our 53 as our 5th receiver, but not that he would see the regular season field anytime soon.

Barring injury, I suspect that Belichick is fine with what we have unless he can trade for a top experienced veteran.

I think the best ceiling projection I've seen for him (for his rookie year) is he basically takes over Marcus Jones' offensive role from last season. He's a guy you can throw in for a few snaps to get a jolt with a gadget play, and that frees Marcus up to focus on ST/D. Now (and I think we're on the same page here), I don't think that alone is enough to carry him on the 46 man active gameday roster. He'll need to also have a role on ST if he's going to see the field in general.

This isn't to say that's his only role long term, but for 2023 that wouldn't be bad for him.

Should be interesting @ WR we have a few long shots on the Raster who could have Strong camps ie...Lynn Bowden Jr and Tre Nixon. It's obvious that Juju - Thornton - Parker and Bourne are locks the new Rookies Boutte and Douglas the Pats don't usually carry Six WR's.

I think JuJu and Thornton are locks due to how recent the investment in them has been. Bourne is a question mark to me. I give him the benefit of the doubt, because I'm giving EVERYONE on offense that after the coaching situation last year, but the fact remains his skill set overlaps with JuJu's, so if one of the young kids plays up to it, I could see him being the odd man out.

Parker's skillset is more unique amongst this group, but it's also one that the Patriots historically have not cared too much about. I thought he came on strong as things went on last year, so if I had to bet money today, I'd say he's on the roster. But if both Boutte and Douglas shine in camp and Bourne's issues from last year are all good? Wouldn't surprise me if they went small and versatile with the whole group.

I am not a huge fan of D Parker he has separation issues Miami didn't feel uneasy Trading him within the Division. I am hoping the Rookies shine too to go along with T Thornton this year that would be something. That said Tre Nixon did show some quick twitch ability in routes last TC but also had some drops...I hope he irons out those negatives.

Let's not get too obsessed with 40 times; Jerry Rice ran a 4.6! Back in the day I tried to digest that surprising fact and watch Rice very closely. What I saw was a guy who was able to accelerate on the run and get separation; i.e. he would be trotting along, all relaxed, and, boom, then turn on the jets and no one could catch him. The 40 time does not reflect this ability. Another guy I saw do this was Jalen Waddle. This year it was Hyatt so I am PO'ed that the Patriots did not trade up in the 3'd to get him; they may have been waiting on him, but whiffed and ended up with Mapu; we will never know exactly what happened. Anyway, Boutte has a bit of that; he is not the next Jerry Rice (Rice had fanatic dedication to his craft) or Waddle (world-class speed) but he shows a bit of acceleration.
