Brady unretirement speculation

Looks like we can shut the lights out on a second Brady unretirement. Although I think we all know by now the first one was just a ruse to get out of Tampa Bay.

People most responsible for Brady's retirement (for good):

1. Todd 'toilet' Bowles
2. Brian Flores
3. Bill Belichick ("sounds like you have landed"... what a dumbass mistake)
4. Gisele

But of course, Brady himself has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH IT.

It's Bill's fault. That's the one that kills me. The dude left of his own free will, but it's Bill's fault that he retired three years later.

Brady now spends his time watching cat videos on Instagram.
Kittens are pretty cute though. Except when pooping.

I want to see him signed for exactly one more day to retire a Patriot, then ban for life on top of whatever implication retirement carries. How am I even worried about how a guy in his 40s retires? Jesus.

I think his point was that BB inadvertently messed up the coaching situation in Miami, otherwise Brady would be there. Still a reach, though.

Belichick was talking up moving on from Brady as early as 2014. So only 9 seasons too early. Brady made statements which made it clear he wanted to remain a Patriot but the team didn't reciprocate the commitment. BB facilitated the split, not Brady. But that's not really the point here and the split worked out bigtime in Brady's favor so let's move on from that.

Can we have a serious discussion about Brady's "retirement(s)"?

Brady will be 46 by the start of the 2023 season so it's not a major upset that he's retiring. However, he faked his initial retirement last offseason because he, Sean Payton, and Stephen Ross were cooking up a plan for Brady and Payton to join Miami for the 2022 season (and very likely beyond). I think Brady had the likely intention of playing 2-3 more seasons in Miami.

However, the lawsuit filed by Flores, alleging racial discrimination in hiring processes across the NFL, derailed Brady's Miami plan. Belichick was pivotal to that lawsuit coming to fruition. Firstly, Belichick participated in what Flores called "back channel conversations" that influence hiring decisions and denied him a "fair and equal opportunity" to earn a head coaching position.

Secondly, it was Belichick's text messages (mistakenly) sent to Flores that tipped him off. BB actually congratulated Brian Flores for "landing" the NYG head coaching job before Flores had even interviewed for the position. Problem was BB texted the wrong Brian when he had intended on texting Brian Daboll.

Once BB realized he "****ed up" he straight up lied to Flores and told him he had "misread" a text from NYG saying which Brian they had hired. When in reality he incredibly texted the wrong Brian from his contacts.

Flores proceeds with the sham interview, subsequently it's announced Brian Daboll gets the HC job for the NYG, which Flores already know from BB's text, and soon after he files his lawsuit.

Ultimately Brady was left with one option for the 2023 of playing for the Bucs. He "unretires", Arians steps away from coaching due to health concerns, and Brady ends up with toilet bowles who crushes his desire to continue his NFL career.

So my list is fair. In fact, I'll revise it slightly (BB jumps up a spot).

Oh, you mean that Brady was complicit in the fact that the Dolphins tampered with him while he was under contract, a fact that everyone and his brother sweeps under the rug because GOAT? That's the scenario you refer to?

No, I'll pass on opening that one with you. I will just give you the last word on it now. I feel that subject has been beat to death.

It doesn't matter where he is or where he might have gone, Brady is done because he is DONE -- mentally, emotionally and physically. You need to give this a rest.

That's the point of the discussion... the where's and why's. I think it's interesting to look at.

I agree he's done, emotionally and especially mentally, but not physically. He can still play at a very high level from a physical standpoint. At this point, coming off an exhausting season with a braindead head coach and a team that could only win by last second comebacks, he's not feeling up to the commitment necessary to maintain a high level of performance.

I think it's likely too after a long enough break from the perpetual grind of the last 23 years, he'll miss it, and possibly regret the retirement "for good" but at his age, stopping for any extended period of time and then trying to start back up again isn't going to work.

1A. Father Time

This is not a case where a career was tragically cut short. He had the longest QB career in NFL history. It was bound to come to an end at some point. Same with his time on the Pats - 20 years with the team is longer than anyone else managed on any other team. Its nobody's fault he went somewhere else, and its nobody's fault he retired. Cant make the good times last forever unfortunately.

I don't think he declined physically
I just think it's as simple of him being tired, the whole divorce thing and wanting to enjoy other ventures. He has a lot of other projects

It's March 14. I will believe Brady is retired when I don't see him throwing footballs in September.

Wait you live in a fantasy land were teams don’t talk with players before free agency, the lebron heat team was assembled 2-3 years in advance

This isn't the NBA, is it?

No, everyone sweeps it under the rug because it is incredibly common across all sports, but especially the NFL. If people got angry every time someone was tampered with, they would be angry 24/7 from about November through May.

In fact, it seems that the only reason you're getting all worked up about it is because GOAT.

I'm not that worked up about it, actually. I was having a little fun with @Tunescribe.

I mean stop overthinking this. Zo is inarguably connected, especially with the Brady camp. He’s also pretty dumb. Those things are not mutually exclusive.
Zolak's last year in the NFL was the year before Brady's first year, and that last year wasn't even in New England.
I don't see why people think they are so tight, other than Zolak finds it useful to make it look like they are.

There was no magic left in 2022. Just a bunch of guys going through the motion including Brady. Don't blame him though, the team was bad. It started with bad drafting in 2021 and 2022. Then bad new head coach. Then injuries to key player. Equals hopeless situation.

Sounds familiar … lol
