Jakobi Meyers ▣ Free Agency

Higgins is better... No doubt I would trade for him... But has Cincy shown any indication of wanting to move him? None so far... just because we want does nit mean he's available...
They want to keep him no question.

Burrow has said he's willing to structure his deal if it helps keeping Hig.

Who knows.

Don't shoot the messenger: hear me out here's a guy I would bring in low risk possibly high reward. Got injured in his last year in Detroit didn't pan out in FA for the Giants 2021 that Joe Judge HCoaching experiment year. Kenny Golladay should come in real cheap again low risk possibly high rewards Golladay was really good in Detroit.

Some Teams get excited about Draft picks on Draft day and unlike us the Bengals know how to draft WR's.

I know like Rob said above you pay for Elite Talent you don't pay the moon or back-up the Brinks truck for Good talent that you can find or groom.
Yeah... 15-20 isn't what elite players are earning... double that first number and you are in their neighborhood... your payscale is stuck in 2015

Here's another guy WR Parris Campbell I would give a look in FA a former Second Rounder injury riddled Four years with the Colts. Campbell was finally healthy last year but the Colts had QB problems again low risk possibly high reward type signing he wouldn't hurt our cap. Sometimes you can get something for almost nothing.

I'm listening what do you think?? Ok 2022 looks like a weird year for him the Giants played better last year interesting... well Golladay should come very cheap based on last year.

I think 81 yards in 12 games in 2022 is more then a red flag. Catch percentage was 35?!? And he is 30 yrs old. Pass.

I understand imagine paying him $4Mill -$5Mill that's nothing.

He's having challenges with the Giants...maybe the system is somewhat similar because Daboll but learning the Patriots playbook at 30 yrs old with his current struggles?

IMO that's throwing $4-5 M away

Is there anyone saying that if the choice was Meyers or Higgins, they would choose Meyers? No. What we're saying is Meyers at $15 million per year is a better deal in 2023 than Tee Higgins at $22 million plus our first round draft pick in 2023. And some of us are saying, do Meyers at $15 million now and Tee Higgins at $24 million in 2024 and have a solid OT covering Mac's blindside on a rookie salary for 5 years.

One thing is certain the Giants are definitely going WR in the upcoming Draft.

Disagree mike Higging is a Game Changer Meyers is not! He made that catch look Mosslike easy we need a WR like that to bring down Mac's moon balls.

Nobody is saying Meyers is a game changer. $15M is WR2 money.
Glad BB is running the show I wish Meyers all the best @15Mill for his next team. :)

Love Meyers too but at some point we need to stop being subjective and decide which player's talent and upside maximizes the payout and cap space.

Same reason Bill signed Gilly and not Malcolm. Reason: Gilly was the more talented, better player. Bill nailed it.

Talent-wise T-Hig is a superior talent and player than Meyers. Not even close really.
So, you're going to blow draft capital to rent a player you almost certainly won't be able to resign? Because if you can't resign Meyers you sure as hell aren't going to resign Higgins as UFA. And you KNOW he'll go to UFA with one year left on his deal.

How do you know we won't have the framework for an extension in place before we make the trade?

See above

Parker may have more value in a BoB offense, if we use TEs as (possibly) anticipated in the seam. For his cost, he's worth keeping around. His constant time on the injury report is the bigger issue, but even so, there's value for the money.
Parker is worth $6M even if doesn't play all 20 games. WR's are expensive.

The one thing that concerns me about Higgins is that he's not a YAC guy getting under 4 yards per reception. He's a very good 50/50 guy and plays the position like a basketball player. However, is he the right guy for Mac's skill set? Mac needs a guy who can take shorter to intermediate passes and do damage after the catch.

Mitchell, Roberts, Hines, and Harris were all slight contributors as well. Russey and Steuber will be competing this year for back up spots. A few could be regular contributors in 2024.
Agreed. This is gravy after considering the other picks.

MITCHELL - a STer play 2/3 of the ST reps, so a role even as a rookie.

HINES - We'll see; he will be one of our IOL prospects, saving a 2023 pick.

RUSSEY, ROBERTS, STEUBER, HARRIS - will compete for 53 roster spots; personally, I hope that we have better when the cut-off comes.
