Who's your Mount Rushmore of Boston Sports?

Moved to the area in the mid 80's, and I didn't even become a fan of the Celts until the early 90's, so my Mt. Rushmore is based from when I was a fan of the team.

Celts: Pierce, RLewis fave, Russell all time
Sox: Papi all time, Pedro fave
Bruins: Really enjoyed watching the 2010 team and am pretty proud of myself for calling that SC winning season from the start due to preseason play in Europe (and the last few winners also did that): tied, Neely fave, Orr all time
Pats: TB12 all time, TB80 fave

Are the dudes really fat? Or do they just look fat because of all that gear.
I'm not sure. I get all my hockey information from The Mighty Ducks. You could be right.

In a board filled with bad takes, this may be the very worst.

You'd have a better case that baseball isn't a sport.
It’s either satire or an idiot. Verdict still out

I was going to say that exactly. Ain’t no fat goalies in real life. I know. I was one

If championships don't matter then Bill Russell needs to come off your list.

Can't have it both ways.
Did you ever watch Russel play? The Celtics with Cousy, Sam and KC Jones, Heinson, Nelson, were great...but they were great champions because of Russell. The rafters from that era would be near empty if not for Russel. Watching him battle Wilt Chamberlain is an immortal scene in NBA history. The Championships don't make a man one of the the greatest by themselves. His talent, intelligence, and desire to win made him great. Ask Wilt...more recently ask Charles Barkley if championships or lack of one defines a players greatness. The lack of them often tends to obscure true greatness as much as being indicative of it. Russell was great in and of himself...just a tremendous player and teammate. A lot of things go into championships usually. There is normally a little luck involved somewhere along the line (think tuck rule). Seldom do we see true dominance (85 Bears).
A common sports NBA question growing up was would the Celtics have won so many championships if Russel and Wilt changed teams. The Celtics were normally better, but not by a lot, and it made great conversations. In my opinion, Wilt was definitely the more dominant player, but Russel always made the plays he had to make. So I never had a true answer to it, but they were both absolutely dominant. One with many championships. One with few.
So very long winded and I apologize for that, but no...I don't think my previous comment was trying to have it both ways.

Good post.

My belief is championships and the pressure of carrying your team to the ultimate prize is what separates great players from GOATS.

Ted Williams was the greatest hitter who ever lived. There is no debate about that.

My criteria is a) hitting/individual performance and b) winning/championships/clutch-ness....at a minimum it's a draw b/t/w Ted and Ortiz.

We all love Brady and acknowledge his GOATness. I also happen to like the dude. He's tough and has integrity.
But it's telling that Troy Brown is your favorite Pat. You're not alone. He's one of my alltime favs and I'm an original fan.
Jules is my favorite Patriot. But Troy is on the very short list. They are both very similar in a lot of ways. Off the field they're both unpretentious, blue collar, down to earth guys. I would bet both of them get more votes for "favorite Pat" than Tom. Not a knock on Tom. He also was an underdog like Troy and Jules but he became a megasuperstar. I think Troy and Jules are just more relatable to most of us

I think Eddie LeBec definitely deserves a spot.

The mighty ducks. Aahh yes. Disney’s version of what hockey is. Jeesh Talk about stupid

Dennie lemiuex from slap shot is what a real goalie is. Or even Hammehan

I’ll give Disney credit though. If they made a hockey movie today the goalie would be trans

I would think a female goalie would have some big advantages with flexibility, no?
