Did not even know this was a stat and completely irrelevant.

Not irrelevant at all the top 3 in pt differential this year are: SF, Buff and Philly. The Pats were normally the top for pt differential during the years they were SB contenders.

I didn't hear all the press conference, but it seemed he deflected from the coaching staff and even kinda pointed the finger at Kraft for not spending enough from the clips I heard, but of course radio shows clip the clips they want to create discussion.
That was just the last question when someone asked about evaluating the returns from a "record" spending spree in 2021. He just answered something to the effect that you can't focus on one year and gotta look at the money spent over a longer span, which is when he cited their cash spent the year before 2021 and the year after. Didn't feel like he was calling out Kraft at all, just that he was adding nuance.

Man , good and luckly that McVay won the SB , that team is hosed for the next few yrs. Reminder what a new coach might bring. And it so wrong he doesnt want to be part of the rebuild now likely

I seem to remember that a lot of folks questioned how they built the team and that the re-build was going to be a problem because they went all in for the one SB.

If the Patriots don't make a step forward next year, I think Belichick is fired
It is the exact same three year window he gave Pete Carroll. Now do I think Belichick has more cachet given the 20 year run? Yes absolutely, but that's why one more year to make changes/demonstrate BB's ability to change course and address proven poor results.

That said, I could see Kraft trying to interject himself into things this off-season and BB walking away to do the Phil Jackson thing and go to a team "on the cusp" to get over the wins hump. That's not outside the realm of possibility.

Likely? Probably not, but possible? Sure.

RT was a ****-show but McDermott did OK.
The big question from that is "OK enough to be the swing OT" shortening the needs list somewhat and giving the team more flexibility across other holes that need filling?

In no universe should McDermott be a 1st stringer.

3rd or 4th OT/emergency G....I think so as hes done it at an NFL level.

I wonder what odds you'd have gotten on the following finishing with a losing record this year:

GOAT QB Tom Brady's Buccaneers
GOAT Coach Bill Belichick's Patriots
Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers's Packers
Reigning Super Bowl Champion Rams

And all 4 finishing worse than the Wentz/Heinicke led Washington Commanders.

Hope we make some big moves this off-season or we will end up stuck in the past.

Sounds like two OT still a need then...one starter (LT or RT whatever side not occupied by Mr Brown) and one backup.

What's the old saying..."I was afraid he'd say that..."

Patriots were 1 of 2 teams with a positive +/- point differential that did not make the playoffs. Det was the other.

What teams did the Patriots beat that:

Were good teams
Had good QBs actually playing
AND.....
Were healthy

?

IMO OT is a top priority.

RT is vacant
LT has Brown for one more year.
If they draft a cornerstone LT move Brown to RT.

If the right guy is there i'd burn the 14th pick on him.

I am saying Kraft should consider it. I know he won't. But I think Kraft has a shorter hook than you think. Kraft is 82 years old. If the Patriots don't make a step forward next year, I think Belichick is fired. Kraft isn't going to wait for Belichick to turn around the team from his view from six feet under in Sharon Cemetery.
Doubtful BB will be canned outright but very likely if Kraft decides it's time then Bill will submit his resignation whether it's his choice or not.

I think Kraft should consider trading Bill for a first round pick and hiring someone like Gannon as head coach.

Would love to be in the room for the meeting going over the future of the team.
Any GM that coughs up a first round pick for an almost 71 year old coach should be relieved of their duties.

If there is a stupid GM out there like that Kraft needs to be all over it.

get eagles qb coach brian johnson in some role
he has done wonders with hurts

McVay : boy Genius. I don’t think posters here understand how many losing seasons ‘better than BB coaches’ have… Payton went 7-9 two years in a row with Brees ? Tomlin « always makes the playoffs » : one SB trophy. List goes on.

Belichick, when with Brady, was among the best head coaches in league history. Not surprisingly, he's not been nearly as good without Brady. That doesn't mean he's sucked, as it's something that happens with pretty much every head coach who's had a with/without situation, but when you're talking about BB versus other top coaches, it's an important part of the picture. Tomlin's never had Brady. The Walrus has never had Brady, but he's been to the SB with more than one QB and with more than one team.

Etc...

I’d argue Reid was a disaster in the playoffs until getting a perennial all star like Mahomes and - while he might be victorious this season - has won one SB with a (likely) future HoFer. Tomlin also had a future HoFer for his one SB.
