After Kelly left, the Bills expended picks on Rob Johnson (1st), Todd Collins (2nd), Drew Bledsoe (1st), JP Losman (1st), Trent Edwards (2nd), & EJ Manuel (1st), and Josh Allen (2 1sts + 2 2nds)!

Hey, it only took 25 years, 6 first round draft picks and 4 second round draft picks to land Josh Allen.

And oh yeah, 20+ years of high draft picks because you never once made the playoffs.

Basically only the Bears have a ton more cap space than the Pats. Otherwise we’re up there with the Falcons, Giants, Bengals and Ravens for the most space. A really good opportunity this year if they’re able to spend wisely.

Who was begging to use 14 on a WR? People said that the Pats needed a #1 WR. That's not the same thing.

EDIT: Just saw that @Toofy advocated for it. That's one person. Let's stop over-reacting. Though I agree we shouldn't use a #1 on another WR.

I know what Miguel said. He's been off before. I question whether Onwenu or Dugger will get 4.5M boosts to their contracts taking out an extra 9M in salary cap space. And that's basically what he's saying.

OTC has 2 numbers for the Pats. 54M and 45M. the 45M is what is projected after the LTBE numbers from this year are accounted for.

I thought you were saying some teams have taken a bust QB multiple times over the last decade. Like the Jets, for instance.

So I just gave the example of the Bills.

Trade Henry or Jonnu and gain 8 million in space.
Cut T brown , Bailey, Folk and gain round another 8-10 million
With 50 million and few restructures bring it to 60 +

Tell me you have no idea how the Salary Cap works w/o telling me you have no idea how the salary cap works.

Trading Smith before June 1st only net's you 4.85M in cap space. (minus the next player up's salary) Trading him AFTER June 1st nets you $11M in cap space. Trading him after June 1st means you're not just salary dumping. Which is silly if you're bringing in a different OC.
Trading Hunter Henry prior to June 1st, get's you 10.5M (minus the next player up) .

Cutting Jake Bailey saves you nothing because the next man up is going to be close to the 1M in "savings" you'd get.
Cutting Nick Folk would save you 2.2M minus the next man up, so about 1M.
Cutting Trent Brown get's you a 6.5M savings (minus the next player up).

I don't see how you have IMPROVED the team by cutting/trading those 4.

Resign Meyers, J Jones, McDermott, Peppers. ( 35 million odd)
Remaining 25 million sign Tremaine Edmunds , two OT and veteran CB for depth.

Tell me you haven't bothered to look at who is available in free agency w/o telling me you haven't bothered to look at who is available in Free Agency. (Hint: there aren't 2 OTs that the Pats should be looking at signing who will fit into the budget you've allocated)

You're saying the Patriots should find Bookend Veteran OTs to sign? WHO? Have you actually LOOKED to see who is available? Starting OTs are going to be at a PREMIUM. Like double to TRIPLE Trent Brown's 7.75M Cap number. Orlando Brown, the starting LT for the Chiefs, is 27. IF he doesn't get Franchised, he's still going to be looking for 25M+ /yr. No other starting LT played more than 75% of the offensive snaps for their team. At RT, you're a bit better off, with Caleb McGary, Jawaan Taylor and Mike McGlinchey all playing 90%+ of the snaps. BUT, they, again, if they aren't franchised, they are going to be expensive.

14 - take the best WR
2nd ,3rd, 4th round - best available player ( CB, FS,OT)
5th round - Tight end
6th round - kicker/ punter
7th round - CB

I think it's a criminal waste having two Tight ends when we don't know how to use them . Not sure if a new OC would know it as well. Might be better to just get a fullback instead.

I literally listed out the picks the Pats have currently.

Taking the "Best WR" when they have bigger issues at OT is something that the Jets or Matt Millen would do.

As a reminder. OTC, Miguel, Spotrac. They're guestimating what the 2023 number is going to be. The Rumors are already flying that it's going to eclipse $220M (articles in SI, BleaherReport, NFL.com) while OTC and PFN are projecting $225M+.

Miguel has the Pats at $35M in cap space compared to OTC's Cap Space of $54M and effective of $45M. As mentioned, Miguel is guessing that players like Onwenu and Dugger are going to get Performance Pay enhancements. Which he's projecting to be the $10M difference. I'd be surprised if Pats players earned an extra $10M in salary, but who knows with this league.

Agree. He surprisingly finished off as the best of the season. I'd still look for a starter in front of him but seems solid bench material.

wherever they pick, 14-15, this CANNOT be a guard, a tackle, a defensive lineman. this team needs OFFENSE. this pick absolutely had to be the best wide receiver or tight end available. I do not want Belichick making this pick. maybe the tight end pick if there's a no brainer around at 15

It's early to worry too much about the draft, but I think they should used the 15th pick on another 1st round offensive lineman. There' too much age, injury, and mediocrity up front.

Depending on retirements, departures and non-tendered contracts, we're in for a big overhaul again this year., no matter what. The good news is the Pats will have lots of cap space, draft in the top half in each round, and have two legitimate low-cost QBs on rookie contracts to build around.

Overall, I like the remaining WR-TE receiving corps without Agholor's contract, the backfield, and the IR/PS guys who didn't contribute much this year. The big fixes come at the offensive coaching jobs.

I’m not sure there is a Chase in this draft. Smith-Njigba missed basically the entire year. Addison disappointed at USC. You’ve then got Hyatt, Johnston and Flowers.

I guess one of those five could be a star quickly, but…

They need speed who can produce. Thornton looks to be a good add
