This is a big offseason. When we started the rebuild, 2023 is the year I saw as the one where we would finally in line to actually make a run at contending. In 2022 we didn't have much cap space to work with but we still were able to improve talent wise somewhat through the draft. Now we have the cap space, not sure if we will spend like in 2021 but we should be able to address quite a bit even before we get to the draft.
Defensively I feel really good. Wise, Tavai, Bentley, and most of all Uche pleasantly suprised to upgrade our front over the previous year. Cornerback is slowly becoming deeper despite losing JCJ. Moves I'd make here - add an impact MLB and replace Mccourty(hopefully even upgrade if a top FS is available), do that and it could be an elite defense next year. I would try to extend Dugger this year to spread out what will probably be a large contract. Jon Jones I'm hoping can be retained in the $8-10M per range.
Offensively I actually like the personnel except at T, that is an obvious need. The main obvious change needed is at OC. Of course we all want that legit #1 weapon in the passing game but I'm not sure where that would come from. I love Jacobi but I think we let him walk. Parker (when healthy), Bourne (when utilized) are really good and hopefully Thornton becomes more of a factor like last week. Find a legit #1 and that's a great set of 4, but most likely they will draft a guy or get another #2 type and hope for the best. I like our RB's, Rham is a stud and Strong I think will do great in an expanded role next year. Depth shouldn't be hard to fill. I like Henry and we're stuck with Jonnu one more year before we can actually save anything by cutting ties. But until then he at least gives us a #2 TE.
Not sure what is going to come of this situation with Bailey but we should do what we should have done last year, draft a guy late or bring in some other legit competition for Jake. Achord hopefully is replaced.
Priorities: OT, MLB, FS, WR. Bring in BOB or anyone who actually does offense and move Judge to special teams. Despite taking a step back performance wise this year, which I mostly think was staff related, I think we were still able to build talentwise with what looks like another good draft and some other prospects from previous years stepping their game up.
