We're on to the OFF-Season

wherever they pick, 14-15, this CANNOT be a guard, a tackle, a defensive lineman. this team needs OFFENSE. this pick absolutely had to be the best wide receiver or tight end available. I do not want Belichick making this pick. maybe the tight end pick if there's a no brainer around at 15

Coaching situation needs to be addressed first. We are assuming Bill is going to change the coaching staff which I don't think he will because the well is dry. If Bob tries to get involved asking him to get other coaches, he may walk like his former boss Bill Parcells has done. Parcells left NE and Dallas because the Owners either wanted to get involved (Jones) or didn't let him "pick his groceries" (Kraft). Rumor is Caley is unhappy and didn't sign an extension so he can join Josh in LV. Now Mayo is rumored to leave.

OL needs to be addressed badly.
Need a reliable WR. The FA class is very bad so they will have to do the unthinkable and try to draft another one.
Need to get better at MLB with more range.
Need to get better at the outside CB.

If a top-flight LT falls to 14/15, you don't take him?

myles bryant will be back....he's cheap and plays every special teams down
Please no more Bryant.. find someone else who is just as bad but with a different name

I only want to dump the guys who are really worthless.
Therein lies the rub doesn't it?

It's easy for many to sit here and wax philosophic "Upgrade everything! New QB! New TEs! New WRs! New OTs!" because to them there is no cap, there are no other teams bidding for the FAs, there are no FAs that want to play elsewhere, there are unlimited draft picks AND exact knowledge of which will pan out and which won't.

There are maybe 1-3 "big" player upgrade things this team can do for next year (i.e. top 20 player at their position type thing). Then maybe 4-5 "middle class" things (and yes they may have to overpay - that's what middle of the road teams face) and the rest will be competition or status quo. Even with big cap space that's the reality and not all of those will even work out because they never do.

Do people REALLY think they're going to go all in for a new QB? COULD Jackson sign with the Patriots - sure -anything is possible - WILL he - do I really have to go through the likelihood?

What historically demonstrates an all in approach on a #1WR? The FA list is really short and they just drafted a guy "high" (for them).

They desperately need BOTH a LT and a swing OT...and FA choices there...double yikes....so draft SEEMS to be where that will have to come from or A LOT of draft capital in trade.

The above doesn't even address needs on defense.

Focus on getting the coaching fixed. Then OL. Everything else after that for me is gravy.

Drafted by the Patriots in the fifth round out of West Arkansas State: Miles Briant, CB!

He’s a restricted free agent, if he gets any offer but the minimum I doubt they will match. They might not tender him in the first place

If McCourtey retires which I think is the reality, we need someone at FS as well. I'm not sure we have that person on the roster.

That is an eye opening list. And it shows the difficulty of finding the special QB. Even among your ‘hits’, you could argue a few of them may not amount to much in terms of SB wins. The only one there I feel great about is Mahomes. Burrows & Allen have been very, very good. Jackson has an MVP, but does anyone see that guy winning anything in terms of the playoffs ? I’m a Herbert hater, but I am in the minority.

I’d love an OT. I can’t be the only fan who feels that way.

Need a quarterback upgrade or else that Brady vs Bills 30 something wins to 3 is going to be reversed in the Bills favour, how can you expect to win with Mac Jones in a conference with Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

I get there's people who still believe in Mac, a lot of people still believe in Kirk Cousins and he's almost 10 years in and a lot of money for not a lot of results.
Lot of people will hate this take but it isn’t the worst take.

You better build one hell of a team around mac if you wanna beat those other dudes. It’s possible but hard. Also hard to find a burrow, Allen, mahomes type player

Mahomes and Allen are just ridiculous

This is a big offseason. When we started the rebuild, 2023 is the year I saw as the one where we would finally in line to actually make a run at contending. In 2022 we didn't have much cap space to work with but we still were able to improve talent wise somewhat through the draft. Now we have the cap space, not sure if we will spend like in 2021 but we should be able to address quite a bit even before we get to the draft.

Defensively I feel really good. Wise, Tavai, Bentley, and most of all Uche pleasantly suprised to upgrade our front over the previous year. Cornerback is slowly becoming deeper despite losing JCJ. Moves I'd make here - add an impact MLB and replace Mccourty(hopefully even upgrade if a top FS is available), do that and it could be an elite defense next year. I would try to extend Dugger this year to spread out what will probably be a large contract. Jon Jones I'm hoping can be retained in the $8-10M per range.

Offensively I actually like the personnel except at T, that is an obvious need. The main obvious change needed is at OC. Of course we all want that legit #1 weapon in the passing game but I'm not sure where that would come from. I love Jacobi but I think we let him walk. Parker (when healthy), Bourne (when utilized) are really good and hopefully Thornton becomes more of a factor like last week. Find a legit #1 and that's a great set of 4, but most likely they will draft a guy or get another #2 type and hope for the best. I like our RB's, Rham is a stud and Strong I think will do great in an expanded role next year. Depth shouldn't be hard to fill. I like Henry and we're stuck with Jonnu one more year before we can actually save anything by cutting ties. But until then he at least gives us a #2 TE.

Not sure what is going to come of this situation with Bailey but we should do what we should have done last year, draft a guy late or bring in some other legit competition for Jake. Achord hopefully is replaced.

Priorities: OT, MLB, FS, WR. Bring in BOB or anyone who actually does offense and move Judge to special teams. Despite taking a step back performance wise this year, which I mostly think was staff related, I think we were still able to build talentwise with what looks like another good draft and some other prospects from previous years stepping their game up.
