Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Dolphins

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Well, it must be something about his coaching abilities, his relationship with the players, his offensive intelligence that the head honcho feels he's the man.. I'll say Caley has some stones though.. telling BB he won't take the OC job without actually having the title! Good for him!
How do we know that occurred

I never heard that before, when was that reported?
Curran mentioned that when Josh left he tried to take Caley with him. The team blocked it from happening. He mentioned BB asked Caley if he'd be interested in play caller for offense. He said only if I'm named offensive coordinator.

That’s because your opinion is either ill-informed or biased, or both. Crossen played every defensive snap because their CB group sucks at baseline, other than Howard, not because they were decimated by injury at the position. Crossen, Kohou and Igbinoghene are their CBs 2-4.
I guess it depends how you count Byron Jones. They believed in camp that he’d be ready for week 1, but it looks like he won’t play this season.

It’s actual remarkably similar to Gilmore, who did play for the Panthers but on a limited snap count in most of those games. He reportedly was expected to be ready for minicamp, but he held out so they didn’t know how far behind schedule he was until he reported to camp.

Matt Patricia should just go bonkers and go all out. It's post season now for us . So just use all tricks in the bag . No point being conservative. Unleash the beast. Play like you have nothing to lose .

Ted Johnson mentioned he was personally told the same thing from someone in the organization.. breer is pretty dialed in

I mean Bill is arrogant. But he realistically can't watch this season double down and say "I want to run this back!" It's clear as day that Patricia/judge have no business coaching offense/QB.

Move judge to special teams, hire O'Brien for OC and then put Patricia in the ernie Adams role. And please hire an OL coach too...this franchise is worth billions and we have Matty P coaching the OL and as OC

Calling offensive game plays is about timing, not the ratio of run/pass.

When you take a girl out on a date, the ratio of jokes made/passes thrown is irrelevant. What matters is the result: Unfortunately in our case, her going home alone at the end of the night and wanting someone else to take her out next time.
You are correct - ratios have nothing to do with anything. I said nothing about ratios.

What I said was when you see seven defenders in the box to stop the run, you go elsewhere than at the seven biggest guys on the defense. Mac is at his best in play action which give him the option to throw the ball to a quick read, the open man, or take off for a for the sticks. What they did was ridiculous. The third down Jet sweep was the only play that forced the defense out of their base. The fourth down play was ridiculous.

Weis? The guy everyone has passed on over and over? You like Weis? If yes, you might be the only one.
Any of the three Super Bowl winning OCs - Weis, O'Brien, or McDaniels - would be far superior to Matt Patricia. Charlie Weis did a damn fine job with his young QB from 1999 to 2004. Weis was instrumental in getting TFB from game manager to cold-blooded killer.

Matt's calling plays. There no discernible offensive scheme whatsoever. For team that harps on "situational football," it is clear that this team is playing not to lose regardless of what the opponent is doing.

Jones has played to his contract but he would have definitely improved the quality of their CB room, if he had been healthy. His season was over before it really started, however, so I didn’t count him, especially so late in the season.

My main point was that the Patriots situation was much more of a “next man up” one than the Dolphins and what the Pats were able to do without three out of their top four cornerbacks (and the fourth being less than 100%) was laudable. Crosson has been part of their defense all year, whereas the Pats were forced to play two CBs who were both pulled off of the street within the last two weeks. It is definitely not an apples to apples comparison, as the other poster was suggesting.

This is a tough call.

If stuck in an elevator at Gillete with the following four guys, whom would you punch first?
A. Matt Patricia
B. Bert Breer
C. Joe Judge
D. Dan Shaughnessy

D (not a moment's hesitation)

EDIT:

If we're playing that game, I'd add in:

Steve De Ossie
John Tomase
Ron Borges
