Mac being labeled dirty

Lol no agholar caught it sliding that’s how I know it was a dream.

Was he sliding in the rain? Hey -- that would make it a wet dream!

Oh yeah? How so?
Your weird over the top defense of the most minor criticism of Mac and the fact you’re personally insulting people and carrying it on over multiple pages. If you see a poster/thread you don’t like it ignore and move on.

I'm talking about Corky's proclivity to fall short of the line to gain when he sees somebody in front of him.
He didn't have that problem until he got nailed going for a 1st down (he got it) and had the announcers openly wondering why he wasn't in concussion protocol.

Next game is the first game he slid before the line to gain.

I am speculating BUT: I have 99.9% confidence that Belichick told him it's much more important to get down than get a first down.

Why? Well, QB concussions can end your season.

I don't disagree with many of your takes but this is one of them.

Clark, like Tatum, knew that the ball was gone and had plenty of time. Clark, like Tatum, also had the opportunity to avoid going for the head even if it was caught. Both of them knowingly went for the cheap head shot.
I see what you're saying. I also think maybe you're getting caught up in the outcome of the Tatum hit (which was life-alteringly bad) and associating it too much with the Clark hit (where Welker walked off the field).

Again, I think one could at least try to excuse Clark's hit because he was a defender pursuing a receiver targeted for a pass. The end result was still a cheap shot though. Mac's cut on Apple was entirely inconsequential to the play, unnecessary and dirty. So worse in that regard imo.

What's worse is his selective stalking of certain posters to brand them Mac-haters in an attempt to get them flagged by the mods to be banned. His agenda is pathetically transparent. Him saying that he's the self proclaimed forum obudsman is comical to say the least. I do like his parrot though.

OK, so after 10 pages of weird over-the-top outrage and handwringing over Mac Jones playing dirty, you NOW define it as "minor criticism"? I guess that's progress, but those calling for his suspension might differ with you.

The post you considered "embarrassing" re. waking up crushed was a joke you didn't get. The poster to whom it was directed did and found it funny.

Stalking? Flagging and banning? Self-flattery with a persecution complex = a pretty desperate combo, please seek help. And you know my ombudsman responsibilities are limited exclusively to your erstwhile hangout, the Tampa Bay ghetto. (I haven't spent much time there lately.)

As for you being a rabid Mac hater: that sorry reputation is well established, no branding necessary.

I haven’t had much time to post this week, so I haven’t had time to read this entire slop of a thread. That said, let me ask - do you not think any of those examples were dirty?

As defined by league rules, yes and yes, he should be fined. Whether his intention was to injure others or if he by nature is a "dirty player," I would question. Either way he will learn or be forced to learn.

it doesn't seem he can do anything right in the fans eyes. He gets roasted because he couldn't tackle Chandler Jones and then tried to block Eli Apple and gets roasted again. WTF do people expect from a QB who is not particularly athletic? QB don't practice tackling or blocking and I'm sure he is doing the best he can. I have seen Brady on plenty of occasions try to block or tackle and it is not pretty either. BTW, Eli Apple needs to STFU

What exactly was he trying to “block” Eli Apple from? His teammate had the ball. Did Mac believe that Apple was going to tackle his own teammate?

I think his explanation was: trying to block Apple from blocking Thornton who was chasing the ballcarrier. Looking at the replay it doesn't make much sense, but that's assuming he actually thought through what he was doing or just reacted to the situation trying to "do something."

It was a bad choice but I don't think he was trying to hurt Apple. His eyes were on the ballcarrier until it was apparent he couldn't catch him. Then Thornton zooms by and Mac sees Apple in his peripheral vision. He just went down in his path resulting in an illegal low hit, but he wasn't targeting Apple's knees and doesn't seem malicious -- at least, to me.

Apple doesn’t have a shot in hell to catch Thornton before Thornton is in position. He saw Apple in his peripheral version and dove at his knees which is, by definition, dirty. The other plays were him sliding cleats-up, which we already know is dirty, and hitting someone in one instance with a **** shot. I’m not as hot on the tripping against the Panthers last year. Burns sounded soft for complaining about that.

His excuse makes it worse. Given Apple's angle on Thornton, at best Apple's blocking Thornton in the back, which is a penalty. However, Apple's not catching Thornton there anyway. It seems pretty obvious Mac realized he was out of the play so he just impulsively wiped out another player who appeared in his peripheral vision with a cheap shot.

There's another shot of the aftermath of the play where Mac looks like he's actually calling for a flag on Apple because Apple gave him a little shove after Mac tried to cripple him.

I'm not defending Mac at all, just trying to explain what happened on the Apple play since you asked. The hit was low and unnecessary, he deserved the fine. But I don't think you can't say he "dove at his knees" -- he went down in his path and Apple ran into him. The momentum of Mac's head/body is toward the sideline.

Watch the play you just posted again. You can watch it as many times as you need to. That’s the beauty of YouTube. Here’s what happened: Mac’s head turns as Thornton blows by him which is where he first sees Apple. Not even a half second later, he dives and the contact is made right at Apple’s knees. This was also a play that he had to have known would be called back, and even if it hadn’t, Apple had no shot to legally make a block on Thornton before Thornton made a tackle. It was dirty. He’s had a few of those plays in less than two seasons. It’s okay to admit that he’s had some dirty plays. It’s also okay to tell his haters to stop clutching their pearls over it. But it’s not okay to pretend that he’s had innocent intentions every time. His own peers have called these plays dirty. If that was Zach Wilson and the Jets, you’d be the first to say it was dirty.

He didn't "try to cripple" Apple. Look where Mac's head and body are when they collide, he went down in his path well in front and Apple ran into him. The momentum of Mac's head/body is toward the sideline. It was a poor choice, illegal hit, the fine was deserved. Premeditated with intent to injure, I doubt it.
