Sure but he could've looked at the reporter, smiled and snickered like he did when he was asked about benching Brady. He still doesn't answer but it comes across like "come on man." His response was different than last year over the Burns ankle pull where he clearly had Mac's back. It's just odd.

It's not about being scared of him. Nobody is scared of him. It's about having a QB, the most protected position in the game, going out of his way to do these stupid things to defensive players. To these guys it's about respect. I've heard several ex-players from both sides of the ball say someone's going to knock his block off. You're wrong about it being a media narrative. Several current and former NFL players are calling out Mac as a dirty player. It's particularly offensive to them too because Mac is a quarterback, the most protected position by the rules, and no position group whines to the officials more than quarterbacks, yet you have Mac now with multiple examples of going after players with cheap shots. His peers are taking notice.

Minimize it all you want, Mac could have seriously injured Apple on this play. He kicked another player in the groin for Christ's sake. And twisted another player's leg with apparent malicious intent. He's earned the bad rap. His head coach won't even defend him.
