Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Raiders beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

There are no sacred cows with me.

The problem is i'm OK with rebuilding. BB won't find a more patient fan than me.

I'm ok with going 4-13, 7-10 or 9-8. It takes time to procure championship-contending talent. I'm ok that. If it was easy everyone would do it.

It's the WAY they are losing (undisciplined, bad clock mgt, can't get plays in, dumb mistakes, regressing) and the people hired to fix them that has made me a detractor. I think they are playing hard and they care so that is a positive.

Heres the thing....if a player/coach wasn't improving/regressing what would BB do?
I had actually looked forwar to rebuilding after brady left. New players coming together and getting better year after year on the way to Super Bowl contention, but this is not going the way i thought it would turn out. The team is regressing, its undisciplined, makes the saame dumb mistakes week after week, same penalties week after week etc. it looks to me like they aren't coached like pats teams of the past. Plus the players and coaching leaves much to be desired.

But in watching the replay rham had run it down to the 38 yardline of oakland, if he just went out of bounds there was still enough time
Clock was at 00:00 long before then. Play began with 3 seconds

This. I mean would any other team in the league hire Patricia/judge as offensive coaches to learn on the job? No they wouldn't. I was okay with 2020 because the team was still coached well. They lost because their talent level was bad.

2021 showed growth. With more talent they won 10 games with a rookie QB. But ultimately don't haven't the talent to compete. That's okay. You see progress

This year? Poor coaching kills teams and players more than poor talent. Heck look at Tua with his new coach vs before. Or look at brock purdy in San Francisco.

The team needs young coaching talent. Not bills best buddies thrown into random roles learning on the fly. And why is Patricia coaching both the OL and OC. We couldn't hire separate coaches? It's a mess

If the players can't read situational football...that means it's not being stressed enough by....the coaches...
That would just mean they are dumb football players

There is no doubt in my mind the 2022 NEP are not being coached at the same level of excellence and accountability as they were in 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2019.

2009 was a "bad apples" cultural situation. Not a coaching one.

This is a dumb take by Chatham. Who gets the players prepared? The coaches. If the team is sloppy, undisciplined. That's coaching. If the players can't read situational football...that means it's not being stressed enough by....the coaches...

At what point does the utter defense of bill stop? He's been a .500 coach without Brady. The way he has handled everything from Brady's departure to having no backup plan, to also being unprepared for Josh to leave. And then to replace him with his "buddies" because he arrogantly thinks anyone can coach offense is why we are here. Not to mention the years of poor drafts that led the cupboard bare after 2019.
So situational football is - dont throw a lateral when the game is tied when the call is to get down ? I get its on the coaching and they are an easy target but at what point do you blame the players common sense. Constantly whining to the sideline about delay of game, snapping the ball before they are set , these are basics a vet player needs to know. hunterhenry dropping balls , hunter henry not stepping out of bounds in a 2 min drill. There is enough blame to go around the players.
2006 and 2009 were one our toughest seasons. 2006 brady wasnt brady. they traded deion branch, got in a bunch of players who were useless. The greatness of that QB wasnt his ability. it was ability to adjust and recaliberate and do what it takes to win. Mac jones can go 13/31 112 yards like yesterday missingwide open receivers all season because we can make clown faces of patricia. Meyers can throw a lateral and later be a standup guy for a mistake he made and all is forgiven and directed at coaching.
BB himself has said many times , players win games coaches lose them so its not like he isnt being accountable. At some point the players got to take it as well. Agholor, jonnu etc arent patriot type players. They are just enjoying their contract. That is bills fault on paying these guys this much but people were excited when we splashed in FA too.

and this part of the punt block. the officials screwed us again

Cardona has to know that, regardless of how late the clock was reset by the stupid field judge.

Or they arent listening and there is enough -lack of a better word- mutiny within the offensive players to not accept coaching decisions. Probably because all the players feel their job is safe .
Patricia is bad playcaller no doubt. but whatever play he calls are they all failing because they are not gaining any yards. he isnt the one asking mac to snap the ball when no one is set. or miss wide open WRs or asking agholor to drop.

if people think that relying on a physically limited qb to tackle a 250lb DE one to one is the reason we lost that game and are pinning it on that rather than the multitude of ****s ups leading up to it then that is crazy. Sure if he makes that tackle its OT but any tema that is putting Mac in that position to tie a game to go to OT is not going far. That situtation should never ever happen.

No reasonable person should have expected Mac to take down Chandler Jones there... He was caught by surprise and was therefore out of position relative to his balance & leverage, all of which he would've needed just to have a chance...

My issue is: Why no Hail Mary attempt? This is the Christmas season, after all...

Fat Matt has zero street cred or respect with the offense.

Looking at the last play of the game more closely, it doesn't look like this was a series of improvised moves.

Meyers follows Rham closely. Rham knows Meyers is behind him and casually flips it back almost in a no look fashion. Meyers was expecting it and instantly looks back to pass it to Mac.

Did Mac go rogue and call this play in the huddle after the draw play was called in from the sidelines? Why is Patricia clapping on the sideline after the Rham lateral? Why does he raise his arms in victory after Meyers makes the backward pass? Hmm, something doesn't make sense.

How?! It’s called Tom Brady ….in his Prime….sad to see hm in there right now…he is done…..

Yes. TB12 was/is irreplaceable...the GOAT. But yesterday's mess was a result of bad play calling, disastrous Special Teams, careless Defense and mindboggling bad decision making by an Offense that clearly, as Mac Jones put it while speaking just about himself, "needs to be coached harder," a polite way of saying "coached better." I don't blame Mac Jones, who has not had a chance to show what he can do behind a porous O-line, without weapons and with an OC who has to waste Time Outs because he can't get plays in on time. If I were Jones, I'd probably have my agent ask for a Trade, even if I'm still under my Rookie Contract. A new DC. A new OC. A new STC. The Pats need all three.

Finishing the season the first or 2nd week in January will not make a difference to what is decided on the roster and coaching staff.

We know the offense sucks and needs to be fixed
We know we still don't know if Mac is "The Guy" but it's trending to a "He Ain't"
We know Fat Matt needs to go and a professional NFL level OC needs to be hired
We know Cam Archord needs to go
We know BB needs to look in the freaking mirror and seriously ask himself if he should be coaching this team.
We know Bob and Jonathan should be seriously asking themselves if Bill should be coaching this team
Yeah. I agree top to bottom. Hope you didn't think otherwise. "On to 2023" is the mantra. let every player have a chance to show what he can do over the next few cames. Clean out the Coaching Staff...whether that should include BB, i'm not prepared to say, but, Offense, Defense and Special Teams all need new leadership.

Like other posters have stated, I am ok with a rebuild, what bothers me is how undisciplined this team plays. Ex. Can't get plays in on time, poor special teams, bad clock management etc. I have to think after the way the team lost yesterday, Bob K will be having a long meeting with BB after the season.

It doesn't look like a designed play to me at all.

I just heard BB being asked if on that play if it was the intent for Rham to go down or step out of bounds. Long pause, then Bill says: obviously we didn't get the result of the play we wanted, let's just leave it at that.

OMFG, this was a designed play!!!!

Patricia's actions on the sideline say it all. He was celebrating the play as it developed instead of acting shocked. Wow, un-f*cken-believable. Bill tried a trick play w/ 3 secs for the win instead of going into OT. Didn't trust Mac's arm for the Hail Mary but came up with this?

My god that last play is going to be more scrutinized than the Zapruder film. “Patricia clapping” etc. Stevenson got reckless and lateraled to Meyers hoping to extend the play. Meyers panicked and lost his mind throwing the ball back across the field towards the worst athlete on the field not listed as an OLineman. Stuff happens. This team was and is going nowhere fast with or without that play.
