Mac: "I want to be coached harder"

You need to watch the video dude. If you want to make comments on a video you refuse to watch, it's just lazy. It's a good video.

The very first play he says: "Mac Jones eyes are over here for some reason, no idea why. QBs get your eyes out in front of the routes." Mac completes the play but Warner says he needs to complete it to the underneath guy because the safety he was supposed to read covered the deeper route. This goes on throughout the video, where he points out things Mac needs to work on. And yes, he also talks about the play designs, specifically pointing out what he calls "the details" of how to create better separation for the receivers.

But you won't watch the video so there's that.
It's like an hour. I watched it while in bed because I knew I'd be ready to go to sleep after it was over

Ok, I watched the Warner video. I don't know how you can watch that video and think Warner thinks Jones is a big problem with this offense. He clearly puts a lot of the blame on the play design and the receivers.

After watching this video, I don't have more confidence in Patricia. I have less confidence in Troy Brown and Nick Caley. The route running in this game was not great. The designs of the receiver routes are bad. I have noticed in other games what Warner pointed out repeatedly that Patricia has side by side receivers running similar routes making it easier to defend both.

Sure he points out some mistakes from Jones, but far, far less than I expected based on what some people here say about this video. Hell, on two plays where Jones made mistakes that Warner pointed out were still for first down and significant gains. Jones made only really bad mistake from what I can see Warner pointing out although it was the biggest play of the game.

But Warner says that the details are a big issue with the team and these detail are part of the play calling and the details of play design. That is on Patricia.

This is just mind-numbing. I've never seen a clique of supposed fans put so much time and energy into finding fault with a young player still acclimating to NFL play at the sport's toughest position. One would *think* they'd be pulling hard for him to succeed; instead, it's just the opposite. SMDH.

Just did. As I suspected you are misrepresenting the video. He is far more critical of the receiver routes than remotely anything Jones did. The routes they are running are not clearing out paths and getting people open like they should.

There were like four or five plays where he was critical of Jones. He got good gains on two of them for first downs. Only play was he really critical of Jones and that was at the end.

Seriously, I cannot see how anyone can watch this video and say Mac Jones is the problem with the offense.

It's all on what they highlight. The overall video is well-balanced with some blame on Jones, but significantly more goes to the play design, the spacing, etc. But it all depends on the agenda. Reimer highlighted everything Mac did wrong, while Reiss' left it somewhere in the middle. I'm not saying Mac is without blame, but it was definitely eye-opening that there are more issues than anyone of us probably ever would have realized that go far beyond Mac. Which is why I'm assuming analysts around the league went after Patricia and weren't killing the kid over the past week+.

I agree. Warner highlights some bad mistakes by Jones and even more details mistakes by Jones. Some didn't hurt the Pats because he did make the play anyway (and sometimes with a big gain) just not to the receiver Warner thought he should go to.

But I agree the overwhelming message with this video is how the route design and execution is far bigger problem than anyone has been talking about. If Belichick watched this video and agrees with Warner's assessment, it is the coaching staff that should be worried and not Mac Jones.

The scary thing is this is a video where the offense actually played reasonably well. Imagine what he could find on the Bills' game.

This video showed that there is definitely stuff for Jones to work on, but I don't see Warner even intimating that Jones is the problem with this team or that he cannot be a good QB in this league. He definitely doesn't say the offense strategy and plays are fine and Jones is the issue. He likes the overall concept of the Patriots offense, but not thrilled with the way they are executing the concept.

Talking about Jones being an anticipatory QB in college has nothing to do with stats.

How on earth does an NFL anticipatory passing QB only have 7 TDs through 9 games?

Did you watch the Warner video? Especially the part where he talks about the routes on each play? That is why.

We can't talk about Mac's regression?
We obviously can, but I'm just saying I have zero desire to have this turn into a COVID thread.

I was joking.

So, comparing Mac's season to a late term abortion is probably not in the cards?

First you claim that Mac Jones is in a much more complicated and harder offense to run than Bailey Zappe. For weeks we heard all about why Zappe was moving the offense and winning and why poor Mac was set up to fail. Zappes offense was so much easier than Jones. Verdict - Patricia's fault.

And, now your claim is that Mac Jones is in an offense that is too simple and basic. Verdict - Patricia's fault.

The Mac offense is an offense like Alabama where you're surrounded by 1st round draft picks. If somebody can figure out how to pay these people the Pats are back baby!!!!
