Jeff Howe on Brady to the Patriots next season

That would be a great move for a solid back-up to Mac and Zappe!

So is Geno Smith, Cousins, Goff, Ryan, and Brissett...doesn't mean we go out and trade for them. The question is, does Bill pull the plug on Mac after two years? If Mac has a miserable December like last year, then I could see that happening. If he shows progress, on the other hand, why give up on a good prospect after two years?

Unless Mac goes berserk over the last 6 games he alone wouldn't be enough to block Brady's return. There would have to be some agreement regarding the offense (reverting back to "Tom's offense" as Belichick put it) and then Mac would have to be traded with Zappe assuming the next guy role. Zappe could be groomed under Brady for a couple of seasons while Brady and Belichick try to rekindle the glory days. It's not a bad scenario at all.

Right, the greatest quarterback in the history of the league got propped up by an organization with 9 losing seasons in a row. Brady was sensational in 2020 and 2021. He currently leads the NFL in pass attempts and fewest INTs so he's doing something right. A 14/2 TD to INT ratio is pretty solid. His receiving corps hasn't been very good this season either. And his head coach doesn't call obvious timeouts at the end of a tied game because he says he's afraid Brady might throw an interception... his GD INT% is 0.4%.

The most accomplished QB in NFL history looks like 2019 Brady right now...his receivers aren't playing well and no Gronk. Coincidence? Hmm....

And passing yards and INTs are meaningless when your team 27th in the NFL in touchdowns per game. Even Mac and the Pats are doing better in that department.

Almost no way TB retires. He’s still at the top of his game and his marriage is over, football is what motivates and drives him.
