Just being honest…I’m not liking what I’m hearing with reports the team was either surprised or unhappy with the QB switch. They’re not on the same page. And BB still playing coy with who starts on Sunday? And he’s not committing to anyone.

This kind of stuff is what starts to happen to coaches whose seats are warming up near the end of their run. Tom Coughlin’s exit from the Giants followed a similar path.

Maybe I’m overreacting but this doesn’t feel great right now.

Speaking as a 28-year season ticket holder: Last night was hands down the worst BB-coached game I've ever seen, with possible implications going forward. Aside from a winning draft I don't think he's done a good job this year, foremost problem being how the coaching staff is constituted and has performed. But I tend to agree with @Kontradiction that he deserves a begrudging pass at this point and next year his program should be under a microscope.

Totally agree with your dad. QB by committee never work well on any team. Impossible to have any coherence or leadership on offense when your starter isn’t on the field all the time
And that right there (among other things) is a big red flag. BB knows better. That saying about having 2 QBs has been around for years. I been watching football since the 9ers played the Bengals in the SB and I even heard that back then...

If this was another coach or team making these kind of decisions we all would be clowning them...

This all is very concerning..

Or it could've been a way to protect Mac from the crowd booing and chanting Zappe. That's what seemed to bother Meyers the most, the crowd. If it bothered him, you know it irked Mac.

I know, I know, Bill doesn't respond to the crowd, but he had an excuse to pull the hook (ankle).
Don't suck and then you don't have to worry about the crowd.

Yes by all means let's get rid of the coach that has built and rebuilt the roster 3 times over the past 20 years and has brought us success beyond our wildest dreams.
And while we are at it, let's get rid of the owner who has invested and reinvested into a world class stadium and organization. We were better off before all that when the Patriots were the laughingstock of all of sports and played in a facility that most high schools wouldn't like.

Guys, if Zappe was so great and ready to take over - he should have circled the wagons and stepped up as a leader and proved he could limit the damage in the 2nd half. But he didn't. He was way overmatched, finally pressured, threw some really bad balls, and looked like Mac has been accused of. So, Mac is the one who weathered that storm all last year, has been accustomed to high-level competition in the SEC, and big pressure football. Zappe doesn't yet. So, the answer for this year is clear. Ride with Mac through this year, which is likely a lost year anyway.
Limit the damage? The D gave up almost 250 yards on the ground. Unless Zappe can play LB or S there's not much he could do to limit what the Bears were doing.

Well he could keep pace scoring instead of going 3 and out giving the ball back to the offense

Not many in the media are believing this was all part of the plan. It looked like a panic move, to me.
I think it was too. Desperation and he moved to Zappe hoping it'd stick. For the first two drives under Zappe, he looked like a genius. Then it imploded.

But this is the same standard a lot of people judge Mac on, and rightly so.

Our defense played the same way against the Ravens.

So, we can't have it both ways. Both QBs looked bad when put under that pressure. Or did we expect Mac to play linebacker against the Ravens?

It is both possible that one can be a good or even great coach and their way of doing things reaches an expiration point. Bill Belichick needs to fix this ship.

Oh, you mean when he under threw a wide open Myers and Myers had to make a great catch 2 inches off the ground? Or, perhaps it was when he threw into double coverage and Parker had to make a great jump to catch the ball?

Not against the Dolphins. I didn't find stats for thr other games. But I thought he was under pressure consistently and had happy feet a lot.

I thought they dumped the term "happy Feet" when PEDton Manning made it part of his routine.

You know Mac was happy last night seeing Zappe implode.

If that's how you feel then even more so. Belichick wasn't a genius last night. He was just desperate. Desperate for something to stick. We are 3-4 and it was an absolute implosion last night. We made the playoffs last season but we were absolutely destroyed by the Buffalo Bills. He's won a lot of championships and it took me a while to officially jump on this wagon but last night told me Belichick didn't have a clue on what he was doing (at least against the Bears). It needs to be a wakeup call for him and he needs to start by picking his starting QB and sticking with him.

Don't suck and then you don't have to worry about the crowd.
The crowd was against Mac from the start. They were already booing him after like two plays and chanting for Zappe. It was a big mistake to play Mac last night. He should have waited for an away game where the pressure was less and maybe Zappe fever had died down a little.

Mac has to show some mental toughness. If his ego is so fragile that he would be devastated and become unhinged by crowd chanting for Zappe, I seriously doubt he has a bright future in NFL

This team was heading in the right direction last season, then the offseason of changing a good offense to a bad one run by 2 guys that shouldn't be there happened. After the first 2 preseason games this was all predictable. Zappe was a nice surprise but may be counterproductive in the long term. This season is shot... Belichick isn't going anywhere though, and his seat is NOT warm or anywhere near it.

If Mac can't handle the pressure then he needs to go.

both looked terrible last night... flip a coin.

I still like what I see from Zappe, however, he seems to read the defense quicker and have better pocket presence. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I think Mac should finish the year while Zappe gets acclimated to NFL life but I think there is a real chance of an ACTUAL competition next year in camp.

Don't be surprised if Mac starts next week, that the NYJ crowd starts to chant for Zappe to get Mac discombobulated.
