As long as he doesn’t IR Mac the opponent will have to spend time preparing for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mac is out for 2 months and never IR’d.
I think it's safe to say we're not seeing Mac this week:
This just seems very odd to me unless they're just leaking BS to the media.
Patricia:
Belichick is currently filibustering by essentially reading the Packers history Wikipedia page.
I like to think he was the primary author of the Wikipedia page.BB is an avid football historian, that was all off the top of his head. Pretty impressive stuff.
He's got another coldsore on his lip.
Patriots quarterback Mac Jones could be a game-time decision Sunday, as his high ankle sprain continues to respond strongly to treatment, a source told the Herald.
Jones will undergo further treatment Friday, when the team is scheduled to hold its final practice before flying to Green Bay. Backup Brian Hoyer is still expected to start against the Packers after taking all the first-team reps in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but the Patriots have not made a determination yet.
Jones has yet to practice this week, but remained involved in game-planning and insisted to teammates he might play Sunday, according to the NFL Network’s Mike Giardi. The reported severity of Jones’ high ankle sprain appears to have been overstated. Jones sought multiple opinions on the injury this week, per source, and has been encouraged by his progress.
Jones may go through pregame warmups before a final decision is made. If he can’t go, Hoyer would start and rookie Bailey Zappe would back him up.
Although reports early this week said Jones suffered a severe high-ankle sprain, the latest report indicates that the severity of Jones’ injury was overstated, and he might be able to give it a go.

Looks like The Franchise is set to return much sooner than expected. Wouldn't be surprised if he has back as early as next week.
Someone get this man a wheelbarrow so he can more comfortably carry those big cojones around.
I... I hope the Patriots will do the right thing, whatever that is. If he isn't great to play, then no use in risking further injury. Just my take. I also, like many here, watched the Miami/Bengals game last night, and am shook from that, so that is informing my perspective.

Calm down. He won't play on Sunday. He will, however, most likely play the following week. That is when the real season will start, and it will coincide with the beginning of the annual long winning streak for this team.I don't care if Mac miraculously is able to grit through his injury and play Sunday. If they play Mac he's playing less than 100% in a game the Pats probably won't win and will probably make the injury worse. The Packers defense is probably the best one the Pats have faced meaning Mac will probably take a ton of hits.
Just give him a week of rest then give then if he looks better next week start him in a winnable game.
Mac won the job at Alabama because the starter got hurt. I think he might be unreasonably pushing himself to play because he doesn't want to be on the other end of how he became the starter in Alabama. Got to take it out of his hands.

The Packers sound like they're operating as if Brian Hoyer will start Sunday for the Patriots with Mac Jones' injury likely to keep him out.nesn.com
He's talking up Hoyer like what BB has done many times the week before the game to opposing QB's whether they're good or not. Gulp. Lol
