Pre Game Thread - Pats @ Packers

Listened to the locked on Patriots crossover podcast with the Packers host and they really focused on how the Patriots are not good against the run. Do other people think that is true? I thought the defense has been good against the run save for Jackson running wild against them. IMO the run defense was good in the first two games.

I don't expect the Packers to run all over the Pats like they were saying on the podcast.
Agree, I see the defense as a pretty solid run defense. I think their early down success in the first two weeks was pretty good. It then was definitely not good against the ravens, but the packers don’t have Lamar

He's talking up Hoyer like what BB has done many times the week before the game to opposing QB's whether they're good or not. Gulp. Lol

But they have Dillon who's bigger at 6', 247#s. He's going to be a handful for our smaller S/LB hybrids.

This just seems very odd to me unless they're just leaking BS to the media.

The same guys that just did a great job against najee (6’1 232)? I think they’re equipped ok for that. Maybe the packers will have success on the ground, but I don’t think it’s because they can’t handle a big back.

Insane! How is this possible? And, is it even wise or necessary to have him play? I still think he won't. I could see them dressing Mac, and then not having him go. I'm not sure I understand the thinking with this whole thing, but even if the ankle ends up being not as bad to deal with, there's no question it's a smarter long term move to give him 2 weeks (ie: playing vs. Lions)
Mac is just starting to give me Paul Pierce vibes. Pierce was the master at "injury point" making everyone think it was a career ender-type injury and then sometimes coming out of the locker room and playing in the second half. I'm not saying he's a "drama queen" either, some people just process pain differently...like people that pass out seeing their own blood.

Also remember Brady played in the first Rams Super Bowl after a supposed high ankle sprain.

I doubt he plays honestly, but I won't be flabbergasted if he does.

Is it crazy I think we will see both QB's sunday?

Yeah, probably not for a good reason, but hey, who knows

Nobody expects Hoyer to win. There is no pressure and it's not as if Hoyer is replacing Tom Brady.

Hoyer could be out of football for good next year. His opportunities to see live action are long past few and far between.

Oh he'll be feeling pressure from somebody on his first 3rd/long...

They were good vs mobile (but not Lamar Jackson mobile) QBs with ordinary running attacks the first two games and did well, similar to what they should face on Sunday... But if Guy doesn't join the party then all bets are off regarding how well they can perform vs GB's RBs...

It's hilarious and super depressing that the Pats offensive staff is preparing 2 game plans. Come on man! They're the exact same type of QB, and neither is that much better right now. It's not like Cam and Mac, or something. In fact, Hoyer should be able to execute more of the playbook based on his time and breadth of knowledge (maybe that's what they mean?)

Maybe. But more likely Bill is just being Bill. As long as he doesn’t IR Mac the opponent will have to spend time preparing for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mac is out for 2 months and never IR’d.
