Mac Watch [Very Old Thread from 2022]

Belichick already offered him and was rejected because of the low quality of crawfish etoufee in the Boston area.
Apparently, unlimited Juicy Fruit wasn’t included in the contractual agreement.

How do you know what cognitive skill Mac has?
I probably stated it wrong. Meant field vision, pre and post snap reads, ability to make right audible. Based on watching him play

Did you watch the last series when Mac changed the plays at the line of scrimmage in and out of different running plays and we ran over Pitt to win the game without giving the ball back to Pitt? And the Pitt players after the game said that Mac did a great job getting in and out of different running plays based on the Pitt D? And hear Boomer at half time say that Mac goes through his reads as fast as any QB in the league? Or did you miss all that? Sure, Mac has to improve, mechanics not great with too many bad throws, but to be critical after only two games into Season 2 seems like "being critical for critical sake".

Don't watch many games of other teams?
QB's I think are better than Mac right now:
Patrick Mahomes
Josh Allen
Justin Herbert
Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady
Joe Burrow
Lamar Jackson
Dak Prescott
Matt Stafford
Derek Carr
Kirk Cousins
Kyler Murray
Russell Wilson
Trevor Lawrence
Ryan Tannehill
Jalen Hurts

QB's roughly equivalent to Mac right now:
Tua Tagovailoa
Matt Ryan
Jacoby Brissett
Davis Mills
Jared Goff

QB's I think Mac is better than right now:
Marcus Mariota
Baker Mayfield
Justin Fields
Jameis Winston
Daniel Jones
Trey Lance
Geno Smith
Carson Wentz
Zach Wilson
Mitch Trubisky

This isn't counting Jimmy (who I think is better than Mac right now) replacing Lance and Watson (who is better than Mac) returning from suspension. In my personal ranking I think Mac is closer to bottom 10 than top 10. After last season I thought Mac was an average starting QB where this year, granted it is a small sample size, I think he is a slightly below average starting QB.

In the degrees of atheism question who had "surprisingly" for Patjew? Anyone?

BTW how many degrees of atheism are there? Is it like degrees of pregnancy? I just want to better understand the question.
You want to better understand the question that you asked?

My own idiocy is not on trial here!

Wait...is it? Anyone got the number for Jennifer Walters?

He reminds me too much of guys like Teddy Bridgewater, Alex Smith, Colt McCoy, etc.

With a good team you can win 10-11 games.

He can throw a pretty moon ball, and make the checkdowns you need, can school a bad defense, and even has solid mobility.

But you doubt their ability to keep up against a good QB in a shootout, or against a good defense that takes the easy stuff away.

Can he threat the needle in the deep middle of the field? Can he throw with enough power passed 20 yards to a so the ball can get there before a safety picks him off? Can he do this consistently? Can he throw a bullet to the character shoulder of the receiver? Can he do this enough that defenses have to change their looks, making it even easier to exploit them? Can you score 30 pts a game with him consistently so that you are winning 13 games can getting first round byes?

I don't think Mac is a bad QB, and he's not being helped this year, but this year is showing genuine flaws he has. Heck, part of why they got Parker and Agholor is to give him jump ball threats to make up for any accuracy or arm strength issues he has.

Mac looks to have regressed so far but it really isn't a surprise considering the coaching situation. Still making bad decisions and they seem to be more frequent in the first two weeks.
Mac missing a. Wide open lil Jordan for over 2 seconds is not coaching . Mac seems to be making bad decisions and less trustworthy of his line.

For me I would take Lawrence, Tannehill and Hurts off the list. I think Mac is as good as those three right now.

I do disagree with a few that you have better than, and a couple that you have as equally. I will agree that Jimmy is better but he should be with his experience.

And Kyler Murray. Good athlete but as a leader and decision-maker that guy is WAY overrated. Plus Mac is better than Brissett.

There is a reason that the term sophomore slump is well understood. How Mac reacts to the adversity will determine if he is our long term QB. Matt Ryan than Sam Bradford are good examples of QBs who slipped in year two after good rookie years. Hopefully Mac has a career closer or better than MR and nothing like SB.

that's the reason you're ex-wife used at the divorce hearing .."sophomore slump, judge...but for 10 years???"..

Yeah. That's not saying Mac is terrible or the Patriots made a mistake drafting him or he can't possibly be in that top group someday...there's just lots of good QB's in this league now more than I can remember. The bar is high.

I think Lawrence has a much better coach now and it shows. To be fair Lawrence (and Burrow) went first overall, Mac was 5th QB off the board so I would expect both of them to be better than Mac. I know lots of us wanted to move up for Fields but I don't think it would have gone over well with us if the output we've seen so far from Fields came at the cost of premium draft picks. I think it's fair to measure up Mac to someone like Jalen Hurts. Hurts like Mac was also 5th QB off the board in his draft year - and judging by last night maybe he's finally made that jump that we all want Mac to make....

Jalen has really surprised me in the NFL. Had a tendency to be a bit of a "run unless the first read is wide open" kinda QB at Alabama. Eventually got pulled at the half for Tua in the Championship game against Georgia. He then entered the portal and went to Oklahoma where he seemed to get more going in the passing game. Pleased for him after the way it ended at Bama.

Smith is awesome if you put the right team around him. Look what he did to us as a Chief and this is a Belichick/Brady team both times.
