“We’re going through a process”

I'm sorry but this is just dumb. His QB was Jared Goff. Even Belichick couldn't get to the SB with an average QB...McVay did it in his 2nd year as HC.

Another dumb comment. See above. What do you call the Pats from 2005-2013 then?
Get back to me in 15 years when he's gone another 7 times.

So to be impressive you need to 9 times? Your logic is definitely out there!

If your management is underperforming do you entertain a possibility of new management? How long is too long to hang on? He braught the groceries but does it taste good? Check back after week 4.
How many rookie QB's make the playoffs? I bet the number is small, especially considering that they were not dominant in any one phase of the game last year. They were a solid football team that had a rookie QB hold his own and some, I'm liking the taste of some of the groceries and add a few more spices this year. Let's eat! Go Pats!!

Bill's team did it.

the AFCE and AFC in general were not great over the past 20 years, which certainly helped NE.

i am not saying McVay deserves to be the highest paid but he is certainly one of the top 3 coaches in the game today.

They were pretty dominant on defense, no?

May I use the line in this entry’s heading the next time I’m on the john, and my wife knocks on the bathroom door?

Last year? Hmm, I guess my memory is failing me. I thought they struggled on defense at times last year late in the season especially. I've had a long tough summer, so it doesn't surprise me that I could be a bit off here.

I guess it depends on how you look at it, they were definitely bad down the stretch, but relative to the rest of the league they’d were among the best and were dominant in stretches

McVay sure looked like a boy genius when his high-powered offense couldn't score more than 6 points in the SB.

When you take into account that the Rams had Jared Goff and no Cooper Kupp in that game, McVay does look like a “boy genius.” Heck, if Kupp plays the Pats may very well have lost since our offense was anemic. He’s that good. In fact McVay coached the Rams most of that year without Kupp and still reached the SB.

They gave him the opportunity. He delivered.

Oh no doubt, he was obviously a big part of the comeback. I always just bristle at the notion that any QB (not just Brady) has nothing to do with creating a deficit, but then gets all the credit for erasing it. It took bad play by the whole team to go down 27-3 to the Rams, and then it took good play by the whole team to almost overcome it.

Benefited the coach more than the QB imo. The division has some good defenses over the years. Not so much offenses.

No, it benefitted both, since according to you "the QB is the most important player on the field and trumps the coach." The Pats faced literally no good QB from 2001-2019 other than Peyton in 2001 (when the Colts were still in the AFCE) and Favre in 2008 (when Brady was injured). The Pats had it easy. Much easier for the coach and QB to win games.

And you made my point. BB had it easier than Brady. Couldn't be that hard for for a defensive coach like Bill to gameplan against the motley crew of qbs in this division. Brady literally doesn't step on the field against those QBs. It was Bill's job to get the defense to stop them and it wasn't that hard.

Brady did have to deal with some good defenses in this division over the years. The Jets defense under Rex Ryan might have been the best in the league. Miami's pass rush wasn't bad either they were in the top 10 a bunch of times. Even the Bills defense in the mid '10's with Rex Ryan and Jim Schwartz was quite good. McDermott had the Bills as the #2 scoring defense in the league in his second season there right behind us. One time all 3 of our division rivals had top 10 scoring defenses.

Definitely harder for Brady in the division than it ever was for Bill and his defense.

Their running game didn't drive them down the field for TD's the last drive and the first drive of OT vs the Chiefs. That was Brady. Without Brady we weren't even sniffing the SB.
Agree, I was thinking of the Chargers game and the SB. Brady was magnificent in that Chiefs game, as was Edelman.

Without Brady we probably lose that one in similar fashion to last season's wildcard game.
