See, this is the danger of throwing out a statement like that, without really knowing the facts or giving any concrete examples whatsoever…. somebody else may actually do some research and call you out.Meyers has also had memorably bad drops..
Oh come on, you're ruining all of the fun2.5% drop rate with Cam shot-putting the ball all over the place and 1.6% last year with Mac. Meyers has his weaknesses but let’s not start fabricating them.
HahaWhat an ingenius way to list WRs...why didn't I think of that. The fact that Parker got 0 receptions from Mac last season automatically makes him the number 4 guy on our depth chart. Makes sense.
Seriously.. this is next level analysis and rebuttal.. are you working for the pats?? Extremely impressed... Posts like yours makes this forum much more read worthy than the garbage spouted in major media ...See, this is the danger of throwing out a statement like that, without really knowing the facts or giving any concrete examples whatsoever…. somebody else may actually do some research and call you out.
This data is a bit old but is still relevant. Witten had the lowest drop rate in the league from 2015-2017 at 2.33%.

Now let’s look at Meyers drop rate over the past two years.

The amount of drops is not what the poster is implying. The question is, what drops is the poster referring to that was "memorable" or had an effect on the game?See, this is the danger of throwing out a statement like that, without really knowing the facts or giving any concrete examples whatsoever…. somebody else may actually do some research and call you out.

While leading the team in catch rate.Meyers has also had memorably bad drops..
Personally, I have no prominent memories of Meyers dropping the ball in crucial situations (not that it hasn't necessarily happened). I've seen the flip side of this argument posted recently as well, which is a claim that Meyers' receptions/yards were "empty" because the TD rate is so low. So according to some people, his mistakes are in big moments whereas during the rest of the game when he puts up numbers, it's of no consequence. The amount of drops is not what the poster is implying. The question is, what drops is the poster referring to that was "memorable" or had an effect on the game?
The only notable drop is the one where he lost it in the lights with no one within 10 yds of him against the Texans, but it didn't affect the outcome. I would've created a gif, but it looks like the Youtube TV video expired literally 2 days ago. He also had some drops counted against him over his career that shouldn't have been at all (basically uncatchable). Chase had 11 drops and Deebo had 10 (both around mid 8.5% drop rate). People harp on Agholor for his one drop (but that was quite critical) last year. It is what it is.The amount of drops is not what the poster is implying. The question is, what drops is the poster referring to that was "memorable" or had an effect on the game?
And if we're really going more Mcvay on offense (stretch, PA, 11P) Meyers will probably assume that Kupp role that resembles a TE in condensed spilts. The Z role in the offense has never been a prolific TD scorer. Edelman averaged 4.5 as a starter. Meyers had 2 last year, and was unlucky vs the cowboys to have his 1st called back. Should be 3
Mac Intentionally seeks him out in “gotta have it” moments. Not sure where the empty stats narrative came from.
4/5 - 4thDown (Led Team and top 10 in nfl)
19/25 - 3rd down (led team and Top 10 in NFL)
2/2 - 2 point conversion ( Led Team and NFL)
I know the lack of YAC gets people riled up, but I really don’t understand and why it Matters.
If Meyers catches a pass 10 yards down field with 0 Yac, why is that worse than Edelman who caught it 6 yards down field and ran for 4 more?
Individually nothing special but they're an above average group.
There isn’t a new offense. Everything they are running has always been part of the offense. They are exploring whether they want to run some concepts more than they have in the past. The new offense they have been trying to install and hasnt been working out well in practices.
We can only F'n hope.Agreed. Let's hope Thornton is special.
I think the 40 is almost old news. It was a good piece of info but with live game speed measures taking over its become less important. And yea 10 yards > 40. Everyone is fast but can you make someone miss and accelerate. That's so much a part of today's game. This is why I think 10yd splits are very underrated. Let's look at Wilkerson's catch against Aaron Robinson.
View attachment 44534
Wilkerson (4.50 40) had 1.45 10yd split while Robinson (4.39 40) had a 1.58 (yes, slower than Meyers) and you can see the acceleration difference right off the bat. Note that these are all pro day times.
------
A few notes about Thornton:
1) The guy covering him (also Aaron Robinson) who got burnt like toast just before the Hoyer underthrow and for the TD is 5'11.4" with a 6.9 3cone (pro day). That 7.25 3cone really hurt TT there.
2) I don't know how he does it with 2 kids already at 22 (had 1st one at 16).
I still think it's funny and quite sad that Meyers had 6recs / 69yds / 2TDs in his first ever preseason game. Then it took him 3 seasons to match that 1 preseason game TD production.
I'm actually getting tired of pointing out that Meyers is mediocre. I get he's a hero for many of you. He's a good WR3 but got too many targets last year for too little impactful production. But this will be my last post dissing Meyers.Mac Intentionally seeks him out in “gotta have it” moments. Not sure where the empty stats narrative came from.
Tyquan's 10 yard split in the 40 was 1.41s, which may be the fastest ever measured. So fast that I think it might be a measurement error. But he can certainly accelerate at an elite level.I think the 40 is almost old news. It was a good piece of info but with live game speed measures taking over its become less important. Perkins was invisible I guess.. so most likely foxborough flu for him or prolly gets cut and lands in PS ...
Nixon will be claimed as soon as he is released.. GB .. raiders .. bears .
Nixon could potentially be our next Edelman .. I would want them to offer him an extension and if not possible to play, get him on foxborough flu and stash him on PUP till we swing a trade for Meyers /agholor.
I am not convinced Parker will last the Season. So better to have Meyers as he is durable.
Trade agholor and Wynn and with cap savings get a better OT if available in market .
We need to get tyquan the reps..
Jennings was real good yesterday.
Joejuan is cut, myles Bryant , Elliott , Humphrey, K Harris, Carl davis would be released and signed into PS if unclaimed. Sam roberts is on foxborough flu this season.
