Patriots Training Camp - Wednesday August 3rd

I think he's more of a Brandon Bolden+. He's got better upside on offense than Bolden, but needs to prove the reliability that Brandon provided. Either way, he's off to a good start.
I am intrigued to see how RB/WR Ty Montgomery Blocks that's another thing James White was very good at. I think that might make or break Ty Montgomery going forward we need good Blocking from our RB's with this OL group.

I’ve always been a fan.
Montongrey is a better receiving Bolden.
It hurts to lose Brandon though.
I wonder what's the plan for James White? I would like to keep him even though there seems to be a log jam at RB. A Third Down RB is a key part of our Offense and James White can catch with the best of them when healthy.

Seems like the Patriots have like Five of those guys. A lot of former Third Rounders who needs to step up.
Agree, a lot of positive news coming from the defensive side of the ball so far. The LB's, Perkins, Uche, Jennings have all performed well.

It's still early but the offense needs to step up

I hate seeing the O-line struggles like this and I really wish BB had brought in a Dedicated O-line Coach.
If Dante hasn't yet, I hope he visits and imparts some critical and helpful analysis for our coaches. I agree fully about the dedicated line coach. Perhaps Yates can grow into the job.

The beginning of this season might look a bit sluggish on O since they’re moving away from some of the more traditional E-P concepts.

Well, there are 3 coaches on the staff who were either mentored or coached by Scar who are working directly with the online.

The torch has been passed.

Tiny school prospect... but so was Judon.

Agreed. I always find it amazing that there are football guys sitting at home on the couch more athletic than the NFL guys.

Nice I hope they draw up a lot more with T Thornton going 50 yards down field taking it to the house. Wouldn't want a LB or Safety teeing off on his slender frame.

I think you’ll be happy. They’re clearly envisioning a role for him similar to what Samuel does in SF. My guess is they won’t have Thornton taking it up the gut as much as he does just yet.

I know it’s something of a blasphemy around here to say anything remotely critical of Mac, but I’ll just add this: without being there, it’s difficult to know through Tweets how much of the issues are the fault of the OL and how much of it is Mac holding the ball for too long. He’s in a new system with some new toys. At this point, he’s likely thinking more than he’s reacting. The same can be said of everyone else on the offensive side of the ball.

The absurd prediction of Thornton, a 2nd round pick, being "red shirted" this year isn't aging so well.
Maybe a hammy will bog him down and save you.

The word prediction is a funny thing.

If teams (or fans) knew which draft prospects were going to flourish or fail, nobody would ever miss.

A prediction is a forecast or an estimation. Teams are predicting a player’s fit in their scheme or ability to be successful in the league when they even pull the trigger on a draft pick. Did you just word this poorly?

My question: Have either of NE's Offensive consultants ever coached up this new system (rhetorical question)

I saw an article that Jason Garrett, while O coordinator under Joe Judge, utilized some Shanihan schemes to benefit Barkley and the NYG offense.

Note: Both Garrett and Judge are no longer employed by the NYG

Given that, I wonder why he wasn't drafted.

Sometimes players just slip through the cracks for various of reasons. Some teams had different needs when they made their picks, other teams didn't scout small schools enough, etc...
Hines and Steuber seem to be missing a lot of time. That makes it less and less likely that they make the 53.

Fine by me...we are gonna have to quietly stash some players on the PS. We have too many good players...cuts are gonna be tough, IMO.
