Celtics playoff run: drive for #18

Is Robert Williams III healthy? He was limping again in the last game. What is up with him? He is too slight to defend Giannis well, but he is a monster in the paint against the Heat.
The knee’s still iffy, he’s questionable for tomorrow. I’m guessing he plays

What is up is he’s recovering from knee surgery he had six weeks ago.

No Herro for Miami and Williams and Smart are a go. ZERO excuse not to go up 3-2

No bad game from Tatum tonight. We’ve got our entire lineup tonight and they are missing one of their best shooters/scorers. Come out and stomp them.

Tatum was 1 for 9 from the field, Brown 2 for 7 and Smart 0 for 3. Thank god White went 5 for 6.

Congrats to Tatum for turning it around in the 2nd half finishing with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists.

Tatum's playing with a bad shoulder.

Tatum's playing with a bad shoulder.
Fortunately he started hitting some jumpers during that run. I was worried his poor shooting up to that point was due to his shoulder. Hopefully it was more mental than anything, Tatum can manage the pain but we need his shooting to win the title.

All that said it was a big win, sloppy as it was. Give credit to the Celtics defense but also Miami has been awful. Wretched shooting and performances from their starters.

Really love this team, to look at where they were in January to being on the cusp of the NBA finals is a great story.

1 win to get into the finals. Time to promote this thread to the big boys and girls forum mods

Dog of a game, but they're now 1 win away from a trip to the finals, and two of the 3 most dangerous Heat players are injured.

There's nothing structurally wrong with Tatum's shoulder. He got a stinger the other night and just needs to manage the lingering discomfort from that. Smart seems OK and the way Robert Williams moved was encouraging. The Celtics need to wrap this up tomorrow night and get what extra rest they can 'cuz the cross-country travel to California will exacerbate injuries.

Dominating a playoff opponent on their home court = "dog of a game." Right. At this stage it doesn't matter who's nursing pain; the Celtics are the better team and demonstrated that impressively.

It was a bit canine-like though right? ;) I mean, Miami is SO beat up, the Celtics being down at halftime was kinda crazy. I do think they've got to try to come out sharper at the start of games, that won't fly with GS

Having said that, the Celtics are banged up too and they got a double-digit road win. So on we go

I see it a bit differently. Both teams were tired, but teams beat up to differing degrees. But playing at home is such an advantage in the NBA (probably more than any other sport), the Heat holding serve in the first half was no surprise, considering. What I found impressive was the Celtics convincingly taking care of business in the second half, as they should have. That hasn't always been the case of late.

I do not disagree, but I think the dogsh!t comments are valid because some of the first half rubbish was self-inflicted. Brown turning it over 5 times because he wants to dribble through 3 guys is a self-inflicted problem. If Tatum and Brown pass as they approach the collapsing Heat defense great things happen (see the second half) so why does it take a half of basketball to learn that? They are still young. At least they now listen and learn at half- time - that is a step forward.

Brown's ball handling gaffes are frustrating. He certainly is no wizard in that department, hard to tell why he forces it at times vs. a good defensive team like Miami.

yeah it's been some ugly basketball. Hey, if they win, who cares. But I do think they have to up their game if they're hoping to win it all

How good does the Al Horford for Kemba Walker trade look right now? Also the Derrick White trade? Brad did well as the GM. Danny drafted well, but I think Brad trades better.
Red then Danny and hopefully Brad. Danny traded the number 1 pick to Philly and got Tatum at 3. He was able to that because of a trade acquiring the 1 pick with the trade with Brooklyn. Prior to that trade he brought in Allen and Garnett to win a championship via trade. I hope Brad is a great trader, but he has a way to go to catch Danny.

Agreed. I think Danny deserves a lot of credit for where we are. He drafted Tatum, Brown, and Rob Williams. Either superstars, stars, or future stars in the league. Drafted Smart who is DPOY.

Drafted good role players like Grant Williams and Pritchard. Drafted good players who have ended up elsewhere like Rozier.

Danny was a good drafter and he put together a lot of good/great teams. Nothing but appreciation for Danny in his time here.
