Thanks. After reading that I can see why BB liked him enough to grab him instead of taking the chance he’d get away. His stock was strong, and rising. I’m not convinced he’d still be on the board at 54. But what really matters is whether Bill thought he’d still be there.
There's about 50 articles like this for various players. This is also the first time I've ever heard of Hero Sports. If a guy like McVay who is perhaps 'in the know' more than any of us, and jokes about thinking Strange could be around at 104, I'm sure 50 spots ahead at 54 is quite reasonable to expect.

OMG I just found this tweet... it was the DAMN INTERVIEW factor again!! :poop:

OMG BB how did you not learn your lesson from N'Keal, that interviews don't mean squat!?

Gronk fell asleep in his interview and he's gonna end up in the HOF when he hangs em up. Meanwhile N'Keal will be flipping burgers by the time his rookie contract ends.

The pats added some draft capital in moving back to 29. If they use some of it to move up and grab Dean, Booth Jr., Jones, Mafe or Ebiketie then it will certainly soften the blow of the Cole Strange pick.

He broke the coach's code because he laughed at a guy BB picked #29 in round 1 that he had valued at pick #104 instead? What? How is that breaking some mystical coach's code? Just sounds like he was honestly shocked at the REACH!
Its called shut the **** up and do not embarrass your senior colleagues

I didn't mind the trade down. There were plenty of good players on the board at 29 but this pick is just gross. He could be a good guard but the point is you could have had him at 54 for certain. Just bad value. Trade your starting guard for a 5th and replace him with a 1st rounder is bad enough. When you could have got the guy 50 picks later, it's almost laughable.

I've defended a few Bill draft picks in the past but with where we are in the AFC we really needed to maximise the value of our picks and we haven't done that.
You have no idea where you could have had him.
If they felt he was the best player on the board, why would they take a player they thought lesser of? The point is to get the best player available, not to win a draft rating contest or lose the best guy by hoping no one else recognizes his value.
How many OL have the Patriots drafted in the first half of the draft that were bad? They do a good god evaluating OL and this is the guy they liked. Extremely low chance of failure on this pick, and a strong, stable OL is important. We have brown, strange, onwenu, andrews who will be here a while and with Wynn and whoever replaces him if he doesn’t return we are going to have a big, athletic solid OL. Games are won in the trenches. Always have been, always will be.

Rob a horrible Reach is a horrible Reach... Jordan Richards and Tavon Austin levels. Even Stevie Wonder can see that. Somebody should tell BB that Brady plays for the Bucs Senior moment selection.

I can't wait for the "It was/wasn't a reach" arguments that become arguments over the definition of a reach!

Just a reminder that Sean McVay has not made a single first round pick selection with the Rams in his tenure.

Are you arguing against mcvays success? That would be a strange take.

???

I'm pretty sure the Rams gave us at least some idea. Which team do you think was going to pick him before the Patriots could get him either lower in round one or in round two?
It’s uncertain Pats could find a trade partner. You seem to think all BB has to do is snap his fingers and a trade partner will emerge from a puff of smoke. What if nobody wants to trade?

they could have drafted any of those players at 29 and then got Strange at 54, without trading anything

I know everyone is going to get all pissy with me but I hate what we did tonight. Had some day one starters who would have injected immediate youth and athleticism at corner and LB in McDuffie and Johnson. Instead we traded out and let them land in KC and NY and we ended up with a small school guard and some depth picks. Interior offensive line has always been filled with mid to later rounders and UDFAs on super bowl winning teams. Dan Connelly, Stephen Neal, Bryan Stork, David Andrews, Dan Koppen, Shaq Mason, Josh Kline, Ryan Wendell. All interior lineman drafted mid rounds or not at all who started on super bowl teams.
It’s an atrocity.

Eloquent speaking is very important on the football field we want all choir boys.

Says the guy who started it. Go away Andy.
The guy who started it was the guy who posts nothing but negative stuff about the patriots and said he was going to quit being a fan.
So quit. You already have, no one will miss you

Mcvay is a ****y POS who just broke the coaches code. BB will remember
And if he does “remember” what is he going to do about it? LA beat the team who beat the team who beat the team who beat us by 30.

Doubters gonna doubt
Honks gonna honk
Instant reactions happen

Again, just look at the reaction from the Rams. Then apologize to Billdog.
Thank you. I am accepting apologies
