2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

The best scenario for the Pats is if Ty Law doppelgänger McDuffie falls to 21. It would be just like 2004 when Vince Wilfork fell to them at the same position: best player available at the position of most need.

Been saying this for a while now. Moving up will be cheap, moving down will bring less.

So if you identify a player or two you really want, go get them.
It’s never cheap to move up.

There is so much talk about how bad this year's first rounders are and how the value is late in the draft, that I keep expecting to hear NE traded a first rounder and second rounder in exchange for a 3rd rounder....

A first for a second and a third wouldn’t be terrible.
Especially from one of those loaded Teams early on in the Draft. P.s. the Jets are loaded early on what did they do to get all those picks??

One top 15 guy always drops to 25.

Who will it be?

My vote: Kyle Hamilton.

Other possibilities: Trent McDuffie, Jordan Davis, Jermaine Johnson.

I've thought one of Davis, Johnson, Penning falls to us.... McDuffie added to that trio works for me.

I’m catching up on McGinn’s articles after seeing the link to his new site in the IDL thread. It’s interesting that none of the 17 scouts included Raimann in their top 6 OL, with 12 other guys receiving votes. Peter King had the Pats taking Raimann at 21 in his mock draft today over Tyler Smith, who McGinn's scouts preferred significantly more.

Just finished my comprehensive OL couch scouting - fwiw Smith is pure projection (little if anything on tape incl SrB can justify such hype) .
but . he's honest . since he basically said that himself : )

I like Raimann but id be surprised if anyone takes him in the 1st.

New England Patriots

First round: No. 21
Total picks: 8
Needs: CB, LB, G, pass rusher, WR, OT

What you need to know: Two things to keep an eye on here are the future of the offensive line and speed on defense. In the case of the former, New England’s got a hole at guard, and left tackle Isaiah Wynn, who’s been pretty average at the position, is in a contract year. So taking a player like Zion Johnson or Penning would make sense. Catching slipping Utah LB Devin Lloyd might be an option, too (I’ve heard him connected to the Patriots in recent weeks), in that he adds a three-down presence à la Jamie Collins, so long as New England would be O.K. with the fact that he turns 24 in September. But the dream scenario, to me, would be McDuffie, an A-plus kid (one exec called his predraft interview “A-plus, plus, plus”) whose profile looks like Devin McCourty’s did coming out of Rutgers 10 years ago.

Safe to say this Draft will not transform the Jags : )

Very rarely do you hear about players moving on draft bc of physicals and other stuff. So expect moves to be made before or the draft. If they're made at all.

I have to think we're looking at all options with this class in front of us and a QB on a rookie deal.

One team I wouldn't be shocked to see us do business with is GB. The love big WR that can block, run /align as TE. I wouldn't be surprised to see us strike a deal for a late rounder. Harry gets a slight downgrade in QB but the fresh start he needs Seriously though him, Agholor would make sense there considering the guys they lost. They've been rumored to be in on everyone. Now, Waller. Harry for a 5th or 6th isn't crazy. Idk if we could get rid of Smith's contract but he might be a possibility??

I've had a feeling Pittsburgh is going QB for a while now and still do. Whether it's Jordan Love or Pickett or Ridder idk but I have a big feeling they're not staying pat at that position.

Touching up Big Board this afternoon. Might do it once more but changes are made and think this is the most accurate thing out there.

From your finger tips to the football gods ears brother!

No real breakthrough thoughts here, but big position of need is outside CB:

- If Trent McDuffie falls to 21, sprint the card up there.
- Would be more than ok with Andrew Booth at 21.
- If we can manage a slight trade down I would jump on Kyler Gordon or Kaiir Elam.
- Although very raw and would need some major coaching up, Tariq Woolen and his upside in the 2nd would be a good pick
-In the 3rd-4th round range:
Coby Bryant, Zyon McCollum, Cam Taylor-Britt, Alontae Taylor, Josh Jobe, Jaylyn Armour-Davis, Cordale Flott, and my new draft crush Joshua Williams from Fayatteville St. would be good options.

Will never happen but...
21: Trent McDuffie (CB)
54: John Metchie (WR)
85: Josh Paschal (Edge)
127: Joshua Williams (CB)
158: Malcolm Rodriguez (LB)
183: Joshua Ezeudu (OG)
200: Thomas Booker (DT)
210: Chris Allen (OLB)
245: Vederian Lowe (OT)

Probably substitute a G/T for J. Williams in the 4th.

Joshua Williams is gonna be the trade up reach that sends everyone into a tailspin. Lol.

it's funny how he was never talked about much very good size and everything. Imagine landing him on Day 3 Great value in this very talented WR pool. Three visits I hope they don't take him at a very questionable spot like in the Second Round any other round but.

The chances Brown or Wynn misses playing time is north of 50/50 if past is prologue. So Onwenu kicks out to tackle and…Billy Sherman or Ferentz enters the game. Jeepers Creepers. That’s a recipe for disaster.
OK, when there were injuries at OT, what percentage of the reps were taken by Onwenu as opposed to Herron? Herron is our backup OT, as he was last year.

I believe that Dax Hill will be the starting Outside CB for the Pats in 2022.
