2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

Who are the top 5 worst picks of the bb era?

Easley
harry
slowjuan
richards
Dawson

Cyrus the virus Jones was another one.

No love (hate) for Chad Jackson?

I was also on-board with the CJack trade-up... Last time I ever invoked IBIT...

So the really bad picks I'd single out are ones of players who were intrinsically limited and who would have been available much later: Jordan Richards, Tavon Wilson, Ron Brace and Jermaine Cunningham.

10. Marquise Hill (RIP) - They had Seymour, Warren and Jarvis Green. Why use a 2nd round pick on another DE?
9. Terrance Wheatley - Wasting a 2nd round pick on a guy with no wrists that you actually need to I don't know...press a guy, tackle a guy and knock down a pass.
8. Jermaine Cunningham - The logic was they took him over Dunlap because he would fit better in a 3-4. They switched to a 4-3 a year later.
7. Duke Dawson - Another DB when they had other pressing needs.
6. Kevin O'Connell - You could argue this as #1. You have a limited number of picks that year in the peak of your Super Bowl window, yet waste a 3rd round pick on a QB when your current QB just led his team to an 18-1 season breaking the TD's thrown in a single season. Pretty idiotic.
5. Jimmy Garoppolo -You're in a 10 year drought with the GOAT at QB with many team needs. Why would this be a good idea? Was this 2nd round pick worth 1 and 1/2 games? This is what GB is going through with Jordan Love.
4. Jordan Richards - You had McCourty, Chung and Harmon, yet take a guy who was completely unathletic as your 4th safety in the 2nd round? What were your plans with this guy? Enough said.
3. Dominique Easley - Throwing a 1st rounder down the gutter for a guy with no knees.
2. Ras IR Dowling - They had all night to think about who they were going to take with the first pick in the 2nd round and they waste it on a guy who's had injury history since high school. Just an idiotic pick. A blind man would've taken Jabaal Sheard with that pick as they were in dire need of a pass rusher. Fun fact, Richard Sherman recently said the Pats told him they were thinking about taking him with that pick. Ouch.
1. Slowjuan "Daddy Long Legs" Williams - As I stated above, their secondary was among the best in the league, but had aging WR's in dire need of youth. The GOAT QB on the final year of his deal. The Super Bowl window was closing. It was regarded as the best WR class in years and had their choice of AJ Brown and DK Metcalf. They took a DB who wouldn't see the field. He and Harry were the two picks that put the nail in the coffin on the great 20 year dynasty.

Somewhere Dave Stachelski is wondering why he didn’t rate a mention here

At least you're consistent in being wrong. Sanders was a good safety for the Pats.

Only you could find issues with late round picks. SMH.
Mesko was a good pick at the time.
Bentley has performed better as a player than you as a poster.
You HATED the picks of Dugger and Onwenu. They've shown you to be a fraud.

Been saying this for a while now. Moving up will be cheap, moving down will bring less.

So if you identify a player or two you really want, go get them.
As would need to get at least 2 spots ahead of the Jets for Williams.

The how many QBs will go before we pick thing is interesting to me.

For the Patriots, I think they need 2-3 QBs to go before their pick in order for a top prospect to slip to them ( Davis, Olave, Williams)
Yup this is pretty key this year imo. For instance Pittsburgh is obviously right in front of us. They have a few needs but Ridder might be sitting right there and no team "waits" on guys they really like. They get them.

Hopefully Willis, Pickett and Ridder go. Man I would not be happy about taking any in the 1st RD and I personally love Ridder. Those are tough sells.

Seems the Patriots are up to 9 Picks now:

disregard Schefter saying it was the PATRIOTS 5th round pick. It couldn't have been as that had been dealt to Vegas last year for Trent Brown.

It's either the Pick they got from Miami or the Pick they got from TB.

Surprised this trade happened now. I can't recall pick for pick trades for late rounds picks happen this many days before the draft.

It has been impressive how they have added a bunch of picks since the offseason started. Unfortunately none of them are high picks but I always think the more picks the better with how much of a crapshoot the draft is.

They are up to 9 picks now. so a 50% increase. Which is good. It gives them more stuff to play with in terms of moving around.

I think, at the end of the day, they'll add 7 or 8 players in total. They have wholes at certain positions (OG, DT, LB, CB) but a lot of players signed on the O-line, D-Line, LB. Depth at WR would be nice. Taking someone who could be a #1 CB (McDuffie, Woolen) and then adding someone who could back up Jon Jones (Marcus Jones) would just be awesome.

New England Patriots

First round: No. 21
Total picks: 8
Needs: CB, LB, G, pass rusher, WR, OT

What you need to know: Two things to keep an eye on here are the future of the offensive line and speed on defense. In the case of the former, New England’s got a hole at guard, and left tackle Isaiah Wynn, who’s been pretty average at the position, is in a contract year. So taking a player like Zion Johnson or Penning would make sense. Catching slipping Utah LB Devin Lloyd might be an option, too (I’ve heard him connected to the Patriots in recent weeks), in that he adds a three-down presence à la Jamie Collins, so long as New England would be O.K. with the fact that he turns 24 in September. But the dream scenario, to me, would be McDuffie, an A-plus kid (one exec called his predraft interview “A-plus, plus, plus”) whose profile looks like Devin McCourty’s did coming out of Rutgers 10 years ago.

Very happy we have an owner that doesn’t meddle….

If the Pats came out of the Draft with McDuffie, Travis Jones, Marcus Jones, Kyle Phillips, and Zach Tom, I'd be over-joyed.

If they pulled off a draft day trade, sending Wynn somewhere, I'd be surprised unless it was agreed ahead of time that he'd re-do his deal.

Marcus Jones, the sensational athlete recovering from an injury, who played at Houston?

I hope to see him in a Patriots uniform. He just screams Patriot with his brains, character, and athleticism—even if he’s a short guy.

He just got it done, a lot like Teddy Bruschi at the University of Arizona.

A great third-rounder in the wings like Bruschi?
