OT: Brady was close to joining the Dolphins as an owner

Why?

Did he take the 6 Lombardi's he helped this organization earn with him? No.
Did he take the records, win streaks, and heartbreaks inflicted on the rest of the NFL with him? No.

We don't hate Lawyer Malloy for suiting up as a Bill due to a business decision, do we? How about Drew? No.

So, Brady and the team made a business decision. Regardless of the emotions, or blame, or drama. Cap space is a *****, especially when you're very hesitant to mortgage the future any more than you have. Should we, in the end, hate any of the parties involved? No.

Brady gave us his all for a long time, and in return we gave our support. Seems to me the ledger is balanced.

Malloy didn't have too many options as he was released just prior to the 2003 opener. Bledsoe was traded to Buffalo and then later went to Dallas.

Brady going to Miami is more akin to Favre signing with the Vikings when he could have retired or gone elsewhere.

I wonder if 49'ers fans have an obnoxious character who stans Trey Lance so much that he constantly manufactures reasons to hate Joe Montana for some strange reason.

Nah he's a God here in the bay area.

I'm with Venecol. Interests diverged. Now he might - might - be involved in some shady shlitz looking to the future of turning earth into Planet Brady, and apparently the road to that had a possibility of going through minority ownership in Miami. It hurts us to the extent that he's any good at owwnering. I don't know what qualifies as that in Brady's mind. Kraft is best at ownering by governing least, as the saying goes, because he's this fat little guy w a lot of money who always like the sportsball. I am sure TFB appreciated Kraft being hands off, except to tell Bill things like "Jimmy was a good pick but dude, Brady keeps winning." If in fact that was ever real, of course.Point is, if TFB wanted to be an owner that doesn't meddle, that's just an investment from Brady and a revenue stream for Miami. If Brady attempted to add value from the owner's box, thats an Elwayesque experiment, except Elway stuck around his team from his playing days. But why would we think there''s any particular acumen off the field on Brady's part? Full comprehension of the field within a couple of seconds and the physical gifts to convert that to wins is wonderful. But how does that convert to owner decision, and while an owner can be Dan Snyder bad, whose name do you plug in in front of "good"?

Follow your bliss Tom, we get it. Thanks for the memories, it was nice. Oh, and figure out how to get where you're going legally for frak's sake. ************. Okay dont take this too literally, just feel ilke excreting some lines Creeque Alley style

Milloy and the Patriots were working on a new deal throughout the preseason where Milloy would take a pay cut. They were very close and it was generally accepted by all parties that the new deal would be in place prior to the season opener. It was only at the last moment that Milloy took a hard line stance and stopped negotiating. (This was because of the tampering done by the Redskins)

So since Milloy refused the pay cut, he was let go. He darn well could have stayed if he wanted to, but his desire for money (combined with the tampering) made up his mind.

(And yes I know he didn’t end up in Washington but they were the team who did the tampering)

its the lebronification of the nfl. hero worship gone toxic
As they say "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely". This quote also applies to BB as well. As Brady advanced he wanted to control more of the situation, not surprising given his personality type. I think Yoko and Lebron helped him realize that he had the ability to take control. It is a testament to BB and TB that they were able to make it work for so long As a Patriots fan it is sad that TB12 did not complete his career in NE. This constant drama doesn't help the fanbase move on or enhance his reputation.

Power doesn't corrupt... Power reveals

So does anyone think that BB knowing that this Brady-Payton deal was going to happen in Miami, decided to "accidentally" text Flores instead of Daboll?

Let me just throw a match into this tinderbox and see what happens.

Listened to Mike Florio and Chis Simms discuss this on Peacock while driving to work today.

They were saying the Dolphins wanted to sign Brady and trade for Sean Payton to coach them. But, those plans were scuttled by the Brian Flores’ lawsuit which mentioned Stephen Ross pressuring Flores to tamper with a QB in 2020 who people believe was Brady.

As I listened to them, one question came to mind which they did not mention. Was Belichick’s misguided tweet to Flores really an accident? Could Bill have known what was in the plans in Miami and sent the text to Flores intentionally to goad him into his lawsuit and a public pronouncement of Miami’s earlier tampering as a way to stop the Brady/Payton power play from happening?

I probably just have an overactive imagination, but it definitely would have been the ultimate chess/checkers move if he did.
I really want to co-sign on this, bud. I am not sure if I can.

I fully believe that the people in the know in the NFL know what's going on way before things actually happen. I think they know when a player is going to hit the market as opposed to extending, which players will be apt to give the home team a home team discount, which coaches are going where, ect. I would very much like to believe that teams know when other teams are tampering and choose to look the other way and then use that in negotiating later on. I think there's a group of owners that know how deep the rabbit hole goes in Washington, and choose to let it go as opposed to having Snyder expose the league with all it's dirty secrets. I think there's some who know when Ross is trying to tamper with a "prominent QB" and they know that he covets Sean Payton or whoever. I don't think it's any different than any other close knit business. People know when good employees want to move, are interviewing elsewhere, know X business owner is a knucklehead and has secrets that they don't want out in the public. I don't think the NFL is any different in that regard, it's just bigger with more dollar signs with more pop culture influence.

However...

To paint Bill as the master puppeteer in it? Man, I really wish I could sign with you. I just don't see it. I don't think Bill gets blindsided by anything, truthfully. I think he likely knew of Flores displeasure with the system as is. But master manipulator? Wizard of Oz pulling the levers? I don't think he's that.

It's Volin, so take it FWIW. I don't have access to the Globe, but he's either confirming the PFT story or is just regurgitating what Florio has already said.

If Brady had his way, he would have been running — and potentially quarterbacking — one of the Patriots’ division rivals. Instead, a series of unforeseen events led him back to Tampa.

yeah okay that ones just confusing

its not that bad...

*Now it all started two seasons ago, was on - two years ago on
Football Sunday, when my friend and I went up to visit Tom at the
Gymnasium, but Tom doesn't live in the Gymnasium, he lives in the
Mansion nearby the Gym, in the bell-tower, with his wives Giselle and
Alex the svengali. And livin' in the Mansion near the Gymansium like that, they got a lot of
Room downstairs where the bleachers used to be in. Havin' all that room,
Seein' as how they took out all the bleachers, they decided that they didn't
Have to take out their garbage for a long time.

We got up there, we found all the garbage in there, and we decided it'd be
A friendly gesture for us to take the garbage down to the city dump. So
We took the half a ton of garbage, put it in the back of a red VW
Microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed
On toward the city dump.

Well we got there and there was a big sign and a chain across across the
Dump saying, "Closed on Football Sundays." And we had never heard of a dump
Closed on Football Sundays before, and with tears in our eyes we drove off
Into the sunset looking for another place to put the garbage.

We didn't find one. Until we came to a side road, and off the side of the
Side road there was another fifteen foot cliff and at the bottom of the
Cliff there was another pile of garbage. And we decided that one big pile
Is better than two little piles, and rather than bring that one up we
Decided to throw our's down.

That's what we did, and drove back to the Gymnasium, had a Football Sunday Tailgate
Dinner that couldn't be beat, went to sleep and didn't get up until the
Next morning, when we got a phone call from officer Officer Tedwells. He said, "Kid,
We found your name on an envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of
Garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it." And
I said, "Yes, sir, Officer Tedwells, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope
Under that garbage."

After speaking to Officer Tedwells for about fourty-five minutes on the telephone we
Finally arrived at the truth of the matter and said that we had to go down
And pick up the garbage, and also had to go down and speak to him at the
Police officer's station. So we got in the red VW microbus with the
Shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the
Police officer's station.

Now friends, there was only one or two things that Officer Tedwells coulda done at
The police station, and the first was he could have given us a Genuine Football Gameball for
Being so brave and honest on the telephone, which wasn't very likely, and
We didn't expect it, and the other thing was he could have bawled us out
And told us never to be see driving garbage around the vicinity again,
fined us $50 for an equipment violation that really wasn’t a big deal
Which is what we expected, but when we got to the police commissioners officer's station
There was a third possibility that we hadn't even counted upon, and we was
Both immediately arrested. Handcuffed. And I said " Officer Tedwells, I don't think I
Can pick up the garbage with these handcuffs on." He said, "Shut up, kid.
Get in the back of the patrol car."

And that's what we did, sat in the back of the patrol car and drove to the
Quote Scene of the Crime unquote. I want tell you about the town of
Foxboro, Massachusets, where this happened here, they got three stop
Signs, two police officers, and one police car, but when we got to the
Scene of the Crime there was five police officers and three police cars,
Being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to
Get in the newspaper story about it. And they was using up all kinds of
Cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer's station.
They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and
They took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles
And arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
One was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach,
The getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that's not to
Mention the aerial photography with the Good Year Blimp.

After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Officer Tedwells said he was going to put
Us in the cell. Said, "Kid, I'm going to put you in the cell, I want your
Wallet and your Cellphone." And I said, " Officer Tedwells, I can understand you wanting my
Wallet so I don't have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you
Want my Cellphone for?" And he said, "Kid, we don't want any social media hangings." I
Said, " Officer Tedwells, did you think I was going to hang myself on social media for littering?"
Officer Tedwells said he was making sure, and friends Tedwells was, cause he took out the
Toilet seat so I couldn't hit myself over the head and drown, and he took
Out the toilet paper so I couldn't bend the bars roll out the - roll the
Toilet paper out the window, slide down the roll and have an escape. Officer Tedwells
Was making sure, and it was about four or five hours later that Tom
(Remember Tom? It's a song about Tom), Tom came by and with a few
Nasty words to Officer Tedwells on the side, bailed us out of jail, and we went back
To the Gymnasium, had another Football Sunday Tailgate dinner that couldn't be beat,
And didn't get up until the next morning, when we all had to go to court.

We walked in, sat down, Officer Tedwells came in with the twenty seven eight-by-ten
Colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back
Of each one, sat down. Man came in said, "All rise." We all stood up,
And Officer Tedwells stood up with the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
Pictures, and the judge walked in sat down with a seeing eye dog, and he
Sat down, we sat down. Officer Tedwells looked at the seeing eye dog, and then at the
Twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows
And a paragraph on the back of each one, and looked at the seeing eye dog.
And then at twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles
And arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and began to cry,
'Cause Officer Tedwells came to the realization that it was a typical case of American
Blind justice, and there wasn't nothing he could do about it, and the
Judge wasn't going to look at the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
Pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each
One explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. And
We was fined $50 and had to pick up the garbage in the snow, but thats not
What I came to tell you about.

Came to talk about the draft.

They got a building down New York City, it's called NFL Draft Headquarters,
Where you walk in, you get injected, inspected, detected, infected,
Neglected and selected. I went down to get my physical examination one
Day, and I walked in, I sat down, got good and drunk the night before, so
I looked and felt my best when I went in that morning. 'Cause I wanted to
Look like the all-American kid from New York City, man I wanted, I wanted
To feel like the all-, I wanted to be the all American kid from New York,
And I walked in, sat down, I was hung down, brung down, hung up, and all
Kinds o' mean nasty ugly things. And I waked in and sat down and they gave
Me a piece of paper, said, "Kid, see the Defensive Coordinator, room 604."

And I went up there, I said, "Coach, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I
Wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and
Guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill,
KILL, KILL." And I started jumpin up and down yelling, "KILL, KILL, " and
He started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down
Yelling, "KILL, KILL." And the Defensive Coordinator came over, put a helmet on me,
Sent me down the hall, said, "You're our boy."

Didn't feel too good about it.

Proceeded on down the hall gettin more injections, inspections,
Detections, neglections and all kinds of stuff that they was doin' to me
At the thing there, and I was there for two hours, three hours, four
Hours, I was there for a long time going through all kinds of mean nasty
Ugly things and I was just having a tough time there, and they was
Inspecting, injecting every single part of me, and they was leaving no
Part untouched. Proceeded through, and when I finally came to the see the
Last man, I walked in, walked in sat down after a whole big thing there,
And I walked up and said, "What do you want?" He said, "Kid, we only got
One question. Have you ever been arrested?"

And I proceeded to tell him the story of the Tom’s Gymnasium Garbage Massacre,
With full orchestration and five part harmony and stuff like that and all
The phenome... - and he stopped me right there and said, "Kid, did you ever
Go to court?"

And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty seven eight-by-ten
Colour glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and the paragraph on
The back of each one, and he stopped me right there and said, "Kid, I want
You to go and sit down on that bench that says Round 2 ... NOW kid!!"

And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Round 2's
Where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the NFL after
Committing your less than special 40 time, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly
Looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father
Rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on the bench next to me! And
They was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible crime-type guys sitting on the
Bench next to me. And the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one, the meanest
Father raper of them all, was coming over to me and he was mean 'n' ugly
'N' nasty 'n' horrible and all kind of things and he sat down next to me
And said, "Kid, whad'ya get?" I said, "I didn't get nothing, I had to pay
$50 and pick up the garbage." He said, "What were you arrested for, kid?"
And I said, "Littering." And they all moved away from me on the bench
There, and the hairy eyeball and all kinds of mean nasty things, till I
Said, "And creating a nuisance." And they all came back, shook my hand,
And we had a great time on the bench, talkin about crime, mother stabbing,
Father raping, all kinds of groovy things that we was talking about on the
Bench. And everything was fine, we was smoking cigarettes and all kinds of
Things, until the NFL PR Man came over, had some paper in his hand, held it
Up and said.

"Kids, this-piece-of-paper's-got-47-words-37-sentences-58-words-we-wanna-
Know-details-of-the-crime-time-of-the-crime-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-
You-gotta-say-pertaining-to-and-about-the-crime-I-want-to-know-arresting-
Officer's-name-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-you-gotta-say", and talked for
Forty-five minutes and nobody understood a word that he said, but we had
Fun filling out the forms and playing with the pencils on the bench there,
And I filled out the massacre with the four part harmony, and wrote it
Down there, just like it was, and everything was fine and I put down the
Pencil, and I turned over the piece of paper, and there, there on the
Other side, in the middle of the other side, away from everything else on
The other side, in parentheses, capital letters, quotated, read the
Following words:

I went over to the Coach, said, "Coach, you got a lot a damn gall to
Ask me if I've rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I'm
Sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm sittin here on the Round 2 bench
'Cause you want to know if I'm moral enough join the NFL, burn women,
Kids, houses and villages after bein' a litterbug." He looked at me and
Said, "Kid, we don't like your kind, and we're gonna send you fingerprints
Off to Washington."

And friends, somewhere in Washington enshrined in some little folder, is a
Study in black and white of my fingerprints. And the only reason I'm
Singing you this song now is cause you may know somebody in a similar
Situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a
Situation like that there's only one thing you can do and that's walk into
The shrink wherever you are, just walk in say "Shrink, You can get
Anything you want, at Tom’s Gymnasium.". And walk out. You know, if
One person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and
They won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony,
They may think they're both ***gots and they won't take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
Singin a bar of Tom’s Gymnasium and walking out. They may think it's an
Organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said
Fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Toms Gymnasium and
Walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement.

And that's what it is, the Tom’s Gymnasium Anti-Massacre Movement, and
All you got to do to join is sing it the next time it come's around on the
Guitar.

There is a blockbuster Brady story every month because he craves the attention.

Rip Rodgers all you want, he has it coming, but Brady is the GOAT doosh nozzl;e in the NFL.

His big doofus sidekick Gonk was trashing the Pats the other night on a late night show.
