2022 Mock Drafts

Copied from draft thread in main forum

Boye Mafe, Travis Jones & Kyler Gordon are my First 3 picks in EVERY mock draft I attempt!

Unfortunately, they're all borderline 1st-rounders now, so we'll have a shot at only one of them with our first 3 picks... unless Bill can weave some kind of magic, which of course we all know is no longer happening here...

First draft this year with no trades. Although I expect some trades down. However...

The pff folks are harsh graders on your defensive linemen.

I like flott in our system if we are indeed going more zone next year. I thought he really stepped up his game after stingley got hurt and had some really good games against quality opponents!

Flott's a pure Slot guy though, right? We need Real Outside CBs.

New mock draft with the news of the Devante Parker trade still freshly in mind! The impact is we don't go after a WR in round 1. Instead I moved up to secure what I felt was the best CB left in round 1 Andrew Booth Jr and then the best DT left in round 2 Travis Jones followed up by an athletic 'cover' linebacker JoJo Domann in round 3. I have a feeling these picks could make a major impact in reshaping our defense to be more athletic and capable of dealing with division rival Buffalo Bills and the Dolphins who recently added the likes of Tyreke HIll.

In mid rounds I went for best prospect available, hopefully snagging some guys who can contribute in rotation roles such as G Thayer Munford to help replace Shaq Mason, TE Grant Calcaterra to boost TE depth since the release of FB Dan Vitale signals a return of double TE sets.

Lastly went for potential subpackage and special team players like 6'4 S Sterling Weatherford to match up with big tight ends, nifty route runner WR Reggie Roberson to compete for a slot role, and a high motor pass rushing prospect in DE/OLB Tyree Johnson. How did I do?

No trades

I think we are looking to trade back slightly in the first and still be able to pick an edge rusher, a desperate need and CB is easier to find elsewhere in the draft. Like with our next pick.

The names Jermaine Johnson from Florida State and Boye Mafe from Minnesota might be prominent in the minds of Groh and Belichick. Great production and athleticism.

Yeah, I would like to see...

Pick 21 : either Williams/Davis/Top CB ?........ if all 3 are gone then it would be a trade down and select CB/DL/OT/WR/LB by either BPA or need whichever is best.

I found no pick with #21 and traded down. I was rewarded with great picks

Why are you drafting a Punter. The Pats still have Bailey under contract and he's already shown to be an ALL-PRO punter AND he's a great kick-off specialist. Makes no sense to draft Araiza.

What about Garrett makes you think he's a good fit in the Pats system? I don't see an undersized 1-gap DT who is slow in pursuit as a need. We have plenty of DTs behind Barmore including the likes of Anderson, Cowart, Guy, Godchaux, Murray, Ekuale and Wise.

Is your thought process that the Patriots line up in a more traditional 3-4 setup with Wyatt and Barmore on either side of Jones? Or are you thinking that Wyatt lines up on the Edge opposite Judon? Wyatt isn't a true NT type player.

This is Lazar's most recent.. If this was it, I think many of us would be ecstatic.

Not in love with Lazar's mock TBH. I feel I've seen better picks from forum posters. But as he said he was picking how he thought the Pats would pick rather than who he felt were the best players.

Let's also be honest here, who ever loves a BB draft? The only one we even remotely liked in over a decade was 2021. We got 3 impact players right away in - Mac Jones, Barmore, and Stevenson. We'll just have to see if BB can strike gold again this year. What changed last year? Will it happen again?!

What is it that you like about Enagbare?

Also, why trade down 10 picks in the 5th round to move up 10 picks in the 6th round and lose all that draft capital?
Honestly, his tape looks good. I like his size at 6'4 270 which reminds me a lot of a Willie McGinest body type. In the pass rushing game I like his hand use, leverage and balance. He also displays a high motor for a big man and closing burst once he has beat his man to close the gap to the QB. He's still developing the technical aspects of his pass rush game, sure but he seems to have some good traits to build on.

But perhaps his best attribute is his presence stopping the run, shedding blocks, and still making a play on the ball carrier. For a guy we admittedly don't have a lot of information on, he still displays the qualities that BB generally loves in his edge personnel, a versatile knight that can be deployed like a chess piece all over the field. He's always going to be a solid presence in the run game. There are some NFL passrushers who get washed out against the run when they don't have their ears pinned back, Enagbare isn't that kind of player.

Willie McGinest Lite for a 2nd rounder? Yes please.

Remember that this draft by Lazar was done prior to the Pats adding Parker. No way do I see them adding two WRs unless they've shipped out Agholor, Meyers and Harry.
I'm not "in love" with the Mock either, but I've seen far FAR worse from people here. The only one I've truly LOVED is BCGs.

As for what changed last year. Last year was Matt Groh and Eliot Wolf doing the major lifting and not Zeigler. This has come out in dribs and drabs over the past few weeks as they've talked about Wolf's Promotion and Title and about last year's draft.

Its ok DaBruinz it was just for a bit of fun and I was struggling to find some picks for the draft...no probs.
