Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Evans
Godwin
Gage

Grayson
Miller
Johnson
Darden
Darden and Johnson were hot garbage last year.
Miller is in the doghouse.
Godwin might not be ready until part way through the season.
And for the Bucs, missed games always seems to happen to one of the top 3 receivers.

There's space for Amendola or Edelman to compete for a job if they are still any good.

Edelman and Amendola are both old and were injured. It would be exciting if they were given the chance to compete for an NFL roster spot.

You don't need to overpay for the WR5-WR7 positions, especially when you're still looking to fill in other positions, and you'd be setting up Amendola to be SlotWR3. If you were talking about an outside WR, it might make a little bit more sense.

Yeah, wishful thinking I know.

There is still a small chance(a dumb and dumber chance) and a bunch of hurdles. Does Amendola have anything left? Is he willing to pay for league minimum? Is there a need i.e. injury opening? Lastly, would Brady still want him?

Fine print on guard Aaron Stinnie’s one-year deal with Bucs, per @spotrac: League minimum $1.035 million base salary, plus $365,000 signing bonus for a $1.4 million cap hit. $635,000 of that is guaranteed.

I thought there was a provision for vets like Danny to get a portion of their salary not listed as a cap hit. Similar to what Pats did with Slater where he's making $2.47M but only counting $1.27M towards the cap on a 1 yr deal.

He obviously has enough left: scored 3 TDs in 8 games, as many as Grayson (2), Periman (1), Johnson (0), Miller (0) & Darden (0) combined. Caught 248 yds in 8 games, more than Grayson, Periman, Miller & Darden. Johnson had 360 yds in 17 games. Frankly, the Bucs WR depth sucks as we saw when Godwin and AB were out.

Yes, he's obviously older, but he's always clutch and knows what Brady likes. I know it won't happen. Just a thought.

Looks like Amendola had 24 receptions and 3 TDs in only 8 games last year for Houston. That's pretty good. Multiple by 2 for a full-season worth.

edit: nvm this was already posted

Just read this in an article about last years UFAs improving for the Pats:

"Smith tallied just 28 receptions for 294 yards and one touchdown in 16 games last season." Wow, dude is making $12.5M/year. Compare that with Danny's production in 8 games.

I mean if Brady spends a day throwing to him and thinks he can still do it fine I’ll trust his judgement.

DE Will Gholston and the Tampa Bay Bucs are nearing a deal that would bring him back to Tampa for a 10th season, per source. Gholston had interest from 4-5 teams but wanted to stay with Tampa and chase another Super Bowl. Gholston had a career-high 4.5 sacks last year.

But it was against the grain and the team would have gone 2-15 without him. Master plan.

Yeah...

They're getting (most of) the band back together.
Year 3 of Brady in the offense

Gage although not near the talent level of AB, is very good WR3 and will not meltdown

Marpet is a wash with Mason

Retained their CB1 and Center

NFC South got weaker and NFC as a whole is in shambles other than the Rams.

This should be a NFCCG team at the minimum barring injuries

They need another good cover player and 2 more for the Dline. I hope White is working on his game this summer too because he was complete dogshit last year and him making the pro bowl is almost as big of an abomination as Kyler Murray the last 2 years. Now everytime I see his name they put "Pro Bowler" next to it.

Their schedule could cost them in terms of seeding, though.

Rams schedule is a beast, meanwhile the Cowboys and Packers are disintegrating. The game vs the Rams in Tampa might be for the 1 seed.

I don’t think the Bucs schedule is that bad.

Two of the big seeding games (Rams, Packers) are at home. We’ll see if the Cowboys are actually good again.

AFC North is not exactly a force. Bengals are good but 10/11 wins good…not a powerhouse. Ravens are not dominant. Steelers have no QB. Browns are likely to be back in the dregs of the league even with Watson.

For NFC South, obviously the Rams are tough and Niners might be too. Seahawks are now a bottom feeder; I bet the Cardinals are projected to be .500.

Their own division is pretty bad…Ryan gone, not that the Falcons ever beat Brady with him; Panthers look SOL at QB. Saints are always tough but that’s on the Bucs.

Chiefs matchup kind of sucks, just in terms of having that extra road game at KC which could impact the seeding.
