Player Signing Patriots re-sign Trent Brown

If they can land Ryan Bates from BUF, that could provide enough insurance to move Wynn - just not sure about dead money for him?

Bates has played all spots on the OL, so things could shuffle like crazy.
Yep. It's is my understanding if Wynn is traded the NEP would save $10m assuming the new team takes on all of his salary.

I'm betting he gets traded and the Pats eat some of it.

Let's say Zion Johnson is available at 21...do you pass on him? I know the Pats are good at developing OL but Johnson is a talent that might be hard to pass up

Maybe not, but there's a big difference between "If this great talent drops to 21 you should take him" and "Pick 21 NEEDS to be OL".

Wynn is so damn bad at LT. Just draft one high and kick Wynn inside if you have to keep him. Sometimes the obvious answer is obvious.

Good news re Trent Brown .....next

Offensive line is shaping up to be a team strength again this year.

Hopefully execution wise they can get off to a faster start than last year.

I think health will be the determining factor there. Brown's injury really kicked things off poorly, not only because it happened so early but there was clearly a setback or something that prevented them from shuffling things sooner (probably thought he'd be back sooner and thus didn't want to move guys around for only a week or so). If they can just get like 4 or 5 games all together before someone has to miss a game, it'll be much easier to plug a guy in and keep it rolling. This is all assuming they find a decent starter at LG (which shouldn't be a big problem, plenty of places including internally for that to happen).

Mac breathing a little easier this morning nothing like having a Mountain of a man in front of you.

On possibly moving Wynn music to my ears...music to my ears win Wynn right there for the Patriots.

9. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (DOWN 1)

LT Isaiah Wynn | 74.5
LG Ted Karras | 73.0
C David Andrews | 77.5
RG Shaq Mason | 86.3
RT Trent Brown | 78.3

The New England Patriots are one of the few NFL teams with both a good starting five on the offensive line and backup talent on the bench. Michael Onwenu boasts an 88.6 PFF grade since entering the league, playing across multiple positions, but the team benched him this season once everybody got healthy. Trent Brown allowed nine pressures in nine games and has still never recorded a poor pass-blocking season in the NFL. Shaq Mason at right guard was back to being one of the best run-blocking players in the league, allowing 15 pressures in 15 games.
Sneaky update Cousin.
How about J.C. Tretter former Browns CAP cut. Is center . Can play Guard. 6'4" 307 from Cornell. Smart. The Karras solution. Solid player. Upgrade for Karras actually. Good pass blocker. Overall PFF grade of at least 72 in each of the past four seasons. 78.7 last year. Great number here....... only 1.......sacks allowed. Only 5 penalties.

Or......my hunch, not that it means much? Wynn back to Guard and we keep looking for a LT. How many Pats Fans would be upset if Terron Armstrong was the only high profile FA we signed? I'm good with that.

Different topic but linked...

While $10m for a starting LT is reasonable, I don't think Wynn's play last year was consistent enough to warrant the cap space.

I still think it's possible he gets moved, they save cap space (might need to eat some) and Brown gets moved to LT
I would be surprised if one of those contenders didn't like Wynn: former First Rounder who haven't quite lived up to that billing. He might get us Third but I would take a Fourth in this upcoming Draft just for the cap savings again Wynn win.

Pick '21 is going to get traded. I would bet big money that Bill is going to trade back from 21 to pick up additional assets.
Yep....

Idea........ Detroit for #32 and their third rounder #66,
Then put up the shingle for #32 for a five year program. Atlanta? Perhaps their 2 seconds #43 and #58 for our #32 and our 3rd round #85.
