Player Signing Patriots re-sign Trent Brown

best of the offseason so far in my opinion
The bar wasn’t set very high to be honest. But I agree with you, It is a great move! now I hope he will play for more than half the year.

Mac breathing a little easier this morning nothing like having a Mountain of a man in front of you.

Trade down. Pick a CB and a WR with 1st 2 picks unless an elite LB/DE is on the board.
Seems like we have a log jam of young Edges who haven't hit their strides yet we spend good draft capital on them. I would be against picking a Edge so early knowing the other needs Especially at CB and WR.

Herron is 6' - 5"- 290 lbs

He doesnt see the playing time, but per PFF, Herron has a higher grade than Wynn.
Maybe Herron or Cajuste competes for a starting position. Cajuste is an enigma, lots of raw talent but has not put it together. This is Cajuste's 4th year of his rookie contract so he has motivation to stepup - if he starts his payday next year is huge.

Our O-line looking a lot better than end of last week:

Our Left side is a ****ing disaster, and the "depth" we have behind the top 4 is not one molecule more useful than Hazardous Waste... At best, Herron's an easily replaceable candidate for backup LG/LT... Dude is Not, repeat NOT a Right-side lineman... Cachoo is an easily replaceable candidate for backup to the Swing Tackle (NOT the Swing Tackle itself!)... and neither Yesir C'mon in Durant, Arlington Street Station Hambone nor Thanksdad Ferentz are even NFL players, on Any ****ing Level.

Otherwise we're in terrific shape.

Definitely needed him or someone roughly as good as him to make this OL look viable again. Now it's time to figure out what to do at guard and what to do with Onwenu.

We instead should figure out what to do at Left Tackle... And Onwenu is our starter at RG, or possibly RT if Trent Brown wins the LT job and Wynn/Lose moves inside to LG where he belongs anyway.

Of the players they're bringing back I think this is the best move so far. He just needs to stay heathy.

Nice to have the consistency and experience. The main question is if he stays at RT?
Wynn is not the answer at LT long term. But do they stand pat this year - depending on draft talent (a new LT or LG)
Agreed; Wynn could be the answer long-term at Left Guard, however, if Trent Brown proves worthy of the starting Left Tackle spot...

I think Sherman is the next guy up at this moment for the missing 5th OL.
But is Brown better off locking down the LT, shift Wynn inside to LG and put Onwenu at RT?
I really hope that Bill gives this combination very, Very serious consideration.

Brown - Wynn - Andrews - Sherman - Onwenu OR stay with...
Wynn - Sherman - Andrews - Onwenu - Brown

The bolded one, by a Wide margin... The Right side is better with Plan B, but the Left side would be a complete ****ing disaster.

Glad it's short term, I don't trust his health will hold up. Almost 400lbs and injury prone. Hopefully some incentives in there too but, won't get too greedy we needed him back.

Have to think an Offensive Tackle is in play if a really good prospect is there...Wynn is in a contact year which it wouldn't shock me if he screw up due to uninspiring play.

I'm starting to lean towards CB/

Agree...CB first option...

Yep: Trade back, Multiple times perhaps, then draft the Best Available CB, or possibly DE... We don't have Anybody there either opposite (or even behind) Judon... Wise & Anderson are comically-overpaid Running-Down DEs Only, and Uche & Perkins are Midgets.

I think health will be the determining factor there. Brown's injury really kicked things off poorly, not only because it happened so early but there was clearly a setback or something that prevented them from shuffling things sooner (probably thought he'd be back sooner and thus didn't want to move guys around for only a week or so). If they can just get like 4 or 5 games all together before someone has to miss a game, it'll be much easier to plug a guy in and keep it rolling. This is all assuming they find a decent starter at LG (which shouldn't be a big problem, plenty of places including internally for that to happen).
Health is a constant.

I think with Onwenu, Drew Dejarlais and Arlington Hambright they are solid at OG but they could bring in another value vet or rookie to compete, preferably one who could play some center.

With Brown, Wynn they have starters with potentially Cajuste or Herron they have some young prospects. But if they’re staring at the best OT available in the first round they’ll have to think long and hard about it. Wynn is a free agent after this season and can’t stay healthy, might be time to fill that position now.

I love your passion Captain!!!

Totally agree with you on Herron, seems like he is a different player on the Left side. I wouldn't get too upset yet, I would expect another acquisition or two via free agency and the draft before the season starts. Getting Brown back, significantly helps us though.

Pick '21 is going to get traded. I would bet big money that Bill is going to trade back from 21 to pick up additional assets.

I’ll place a bet on that with you. Betting “big money” on the way a draft pans out is the definition of a fools money.
