Player Signing Patriots re-sign Trent Brown

Nice so have *some* stability going into next year; down 3 starters would have been huge. Wonder how long the deal is? Brown was quoted 2 weekends ago wanting a longer term deal, but Reiss noted Sunday the Pats were wary based on injury history.

Gotta hope he stays healthy, but as far as known talents he's the best possible outcome given the Collins signing with the Bengals.

LG will be interesting. My guess is they spend a mid/late round pick on someone, and let the rook compete with the JAGs providing a floor. I doubt another significant move is coming. I think Onwenu will do well at RG.

It's a 2 year deal according Reiss: curious to see what the numbers are when they come out

Only thing I'll nitpick on Reiss' chart there is I think Herron is better at LT than RT. Not that he's GOOD, but I would say as of today he's the backup LT with Cajuste the backup RT. Unless one of those two really takes a leap, a vet swing T would still be nice.

Thats a huge move - pun intended. I feel MUCH better about the line now , lg should be very filllable. This allows us to hopefully concentrate on cb /lb / dt in the draft

9. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (DOWN 1)

LT Isaiah Wynn | 74.5
LG Ted Karras | 73.0
C David Andrews | 77.5
RG Shaq Mason | 86.3
RT Trent Brown | 78.3

The New England Patriots are one of the few NFL teams with both a good starting five on the offensive line and backup talent on the bench. Michael Onwenu boasts an 88.6 PFF grade since entering the league, playing across multiple positions, but the team benched him this season once everybody got healthy. Trent Brown allowed nine pressures in nine games and has still never recorded a poor pass-blocking season in the NFL. Shaq Mason at right guard was back to being one of the best run-blocking players in the league, allowing 15 pressures in 15 games.

This signing is the difference between being competitive vs not, assuming Brown stays healthy. Awesome.

Great news... Silver lining amongst all other news we heard. Getting a. Rookie guard who can step up should not be difficult . Possibly a 4th or 5th rounder.

Good news, could not go into the season with that many question marks on the O line. I like Brown and he is a massive man, with tremendous agility.

Definitely needed him or someone roughly as good as him to make this OL look viable again. Now it's time to figure out what to do at guard and what to do with Onwenu.

Herron is 6' - 5"- 290 lbs

He doesnt see the playing time, but per PFF, Herron has a higher grade than Wynn.
