Player Signing Patriots re-sign Trent Brown

This is the best thing ever. A healthy Trent is ELITE.

Health permitting, this is an extremely important signing. Very happy about this.

Great news to have Brown back! Still need to find another interior lineman.

I disagree, unless they're going a year early on a tackle expecting Wynn to be gone (which is very possible). Going interior OL at 21 would be a waste when there will likely be better talent at WR or CB available there, OR a chance to trade down and get those plus ILB in the 2nd. They have a great track record getting IOL in the mid rounds of the draft. Their guards and center last year were undrafted, undrafted, and 4th round, with Onwenu (6th) now taking one of those spots. Anything above the 4th for a guard had better be another Mankins or Thuney.

Bill played this situation like a maestro. Brown loves playing here, he just needed to know he was getting paid fairly. BB could trust that he'd give us the chance to match, and he must have done that. Looking forward to hearing the contract details and any back stories.

Different topic but linked...

While $10m for a starting LT is reasonable, I don't think Wynn's play last year was consistent enough to warrant the cap space.

I still think it's possible he gets moved, they save cap space (might need to eat some) and Brown gets moved to LT

Brown was pretty much my #1 priority re-signing this year. I'm glad the Pats got it done. It solidifies the O line. He is the best RT in football. Still not happy about the Mason trade, but BB has constantly shown he can fill holes at guard.

Plenty of plug and play guys available in the mid rounds of the draft.

Nice to have the consistency and experience. The main question is if he stays at RT?
Wynn is not the answer at LT long term. But do they stand pat this year - depending on draft talent (a new LT or LG)
I think Sherman is the next guy up at this moment for the missing 5th OL.
But is Brown better off locking down the LT, shift Wynn inside to LG and put Onwenu at RT?
Brown - Wynn - Andrews - Sherman - Onwenu OR stay with...
Wynn - Sherman - Andrews - Onwenu - Brown

Trade down . I would say all the way till mid 30s and get two additional mid 50s and 60s picks. Use mid 30s on Kyler Gordon if available and use remaining 4 picks in top 100 towards LB, DI, WR,OT. Jamaree salyer at 3rd or 4th round might be a great fit for us. Wide receiver is gonna be Metchie or Watson.

Let's say Zion Johnson is available at 21...do you pass on him? I know the Pats are good at developing OL but Johnson is a talent that might be hard to pass up

If they can land Ryan Bates from BUF, that could provide enough insurance to move Wynn - just not sure about dead money for him?

Bates has played all spots on the OL, so things could shuffle like crazy.

Great news, best of the offseason so far in my opinion!!!!

Agree, he was my #1 resign. People complain about injuries but he is our best OLineman.
