NFL Free Agency 2022 edition

He won the division in 2001. Was Brady’s play in the regular season really elite that year?
No, but without his competent play at QB, they wouldn't have been a .500 team.

Buffalo hit a home run with Von Miller. He's been mostly durable throughout his career and consistently productive. He still can be a premier pass rusher for the next 2-3 seasons... it's unlikely he'll see the tail end of that contract but he and Buffalo probably understand that. He's going to make a top-ranked defense even better, which is very bad news for the Patriots.

O.J. Howard is a player I was hoping the Patriots would take a look at... he's an Alabama guy with probably a lot of untapped potential. He was off to a good start with Brady in 2020 but then he had the season-ending injury. Last season Tampa Bay just never got him into the mix. The Patriots didn't really need a gigantic pass catcher added to an offense that they've given up 9 consecutive TD drives.

Buffalo is looking like the best team in the AFC East by a lot.
And they are LOADED with 2022 Draft picks and the Upside of that WR Gabriel Davis who had 200yds against the Chiefs. I cannot say I'm not a little jealous. :(

The "borrowing it out" part...

Some guys could regress, get hurt, and etc...

And I also think a lot rides on the QB musical chairs between Watson, Matty Ice, Mayfield, and JG.... their destinations will shuffle up the WR market as well...as well as other positions.

Yeah, we can spend money...but better to look for bargains now...and hold that money in reserve to spend again like last year when we were the only ones with a bankroll.
I don’t understand. How is “borrowing” money from next years cap to get a guy today not better than waiting until next year to sorbs the exact same money?
Guys get hurt and regress all the time. How does that support saying we could get a player today to make our team better but it’s better to wait until next year. When, by the way, he will be more expensive because the cap goes up.

This isn’t “mortgaging the future” it’s shifting the cap dollars from next year to this year to get a cornerstone player now to get better now.

Wow big news

how many young cornerstones are available, really? von miller was a big money signing......where is he in 3 years? even next year? he's already shown drop off.....to a team like buffalo that makes sense, you throw some void years on the end to stretch the money, and if you cut him in 2024 the hit isn't bad......but the patriots are looking to WIN in 2023-2025, so adding a guy like that now doesn't make sense....next year it might

Getting Miller is all about stopping KC in the postseason. Whether at Arrowhead or in Buffalo. If they win a SB in the next two years, it's a great deal. Not so much if they don't.

I also think McDermott is gone if they lose to KC again in the postseason. At some point you need a coach that can get you over the hump when it matters most.

If Belichick were the Bills coach with 13 seconds left, I'm 90% sure there's a Lombardi trophy in Buffalo right now. That whole fiasco is on coaching. At that point you need to get involved and take control.

Lol, WTF is going on?

trade negotiations hit an impasse......pats either think they can sign him cheaper than the trade value, or dallas is trying to force their hand.....also means the market wasn't bullish

And that’s totally fair, but to say BB has never won the division without elite QB play, is wrong.

Brady won offensive player of the week twice in 2001. He was a pro bowl selection in 2001. He was 6th in passer rating in 2001. He was 4th in the league in completion percentage in 2001. He led 3 game winning drives in 2001.
