Chris, I have been hearing more Allen Robinson recently....I would love it, if he signed here. A true number 1. I wish that would happen. Not sure if he is going to be too expensive though...let's see. This girl can hope though lol
I have a feeling Robinson is waiting to see where Watson goes.
I would expect to see Fuller follow as well.

If the Pats trade for Collins, re-sign Brown, sign Robinson, and sign one of the better CBs left; the impressions of this offseason would change on a dime.
Maybe we should trade Wynn to the Cowboys. Or another team.

Most teams seem to “find” cap space one way or another. I’m sure the Patriots could just as easily do that, for one reason or another they seem unwilling

Yeah if they bring in a too tier guy at three positions it certainly would change the offseason, that’s the point. They’ve done none of it.

Dear Sam Bam Cunningham
Thanks for the presence you have brought in the past, it was useless.
But now you are turning the fan base into a bunch of whining little *****es and the real fans deserve better.
If you cry like a baby about your fear that maybe the team might not gift wrap you a SB to celebrate, it’s time for you to find a new team. I hear the Jete never underperform expectations, and they do a lot of things that you can whine about.
I do see your point. I woukd guess that at least half the fans on this forum feel as frustrated as I do. I will take a break and see what moves are made. Maybe one of the reasons you seem so angry about my post is that deep down you have the same frustration and disappointment but you can’t come to grips with it

I am not looking to ruin anyone else’s experience on this forum but trying to gauge whether some fans on the forum feel the same way. Obviously you do not. Noted

The Cowboys don't need a tackle. They have too many starting tackles. But someone might trade for Wynn if he becomes redundant because the Pats have Collins and Brown. Although I might want to keep him to play LG and use him at tackle if Collins goes down.

Who would you trade Wynn for? A starting tackle or guard I hope.

We could use the cap space saved by trading wynn to sign a tackle or guard who is likely as good and/or more durable. Then whatever we get back for wynn would just be a bonus. But it all depends on how valuable bb feels wynn is to us. Obviously his view of mason differed from many of us, he may have seen something this season we didnt.

In this situation we would have Collins and Brown.
Wynn would get traded for a pick or a position if need.
If bill doesn’t want to pay market value.
I’d look for promising players on rookie deals.
Who may need a change of scenery.

Jalen Reagor. Philly wants him out.
Broncos are deep at WR but lacking picks what about our second for Jerry Jeudy?
Andy Isabella Wants out and measurables off the charts.

Bill said in the past he likes trading with teams with new staffs cause they don’t have a clear plan how to use he player and are more willing to deal.

So I would look at teams with new staffs.

Vikings- Danielle Hunter wants out and would help us tremendously.
I would gladly give a pick for that.

Adam Thelein- his beef with Kirk Cousins is well documented.
He is up there in age but at worst is a Danny Admendola type player here.

Robbie Anderson- Bill has been in love with him for a long time.
Would love to make a run at Harrison Philips his heart is in Buff but could we offer him more money, more playing time?
A conversation with Bill may change his feelings.

This has been very surprising. Not sure why, but every other team seems to be doing it.

Sorry, but your amateur psychology meter is off.

I dislike posts and posters like you are being because I don’t care for the negativity dominating the board when I come here to read news or insightful thoughts.
If you could explain to me what is accomplished by whining ( here or anywhere else in life) about things you have no control over, and freaking out about the state of a team 6 months before it plays a game, I might understand your pov, but o see no value at all in whining, other to somehow makes yourself miserable and why would you need to expose a community to that?

It’ll be interesting to revisit this thread at the end of the 2022 season and look back at some of these doom and gloom comments about how the season is done for just a few hours after the legal tampering period has ended.

Season starting free agency threads are basically just an offseason version of a game day thread. There's dumbassery to be found on pretty much every page, and in both "positive" and "negative" directions.

If the Pats trade for Collins, re-sign Brown, sign Robinson, and sign one of the better CBs left; the impressions of this offseason would change on a dime.
If you add the return of Trey Flowers that is pretty much an ideal free agency.

I would love a Robinson signing, but I don't think Belichick is willing to pay Robinson the $18-20 MM per year that he will cost. I could still see the Pats bringing back Brown, trading for Collins, bringing back Flowers and then going for value plays at CB/WR which I think is a good offseason.

There are just too many quality players available to judge the Patriots free agency so far. I will probably complain once Bill actually makes moves, then the moves will turn out.

Sure but what's missing is talented players. I'm not sure what quality players means. Is that like serviceable players? Talented players are more important than team culture if you want to win it all, especially when you don't have a top 10 QB.

Our goal priorities used to be:

1. Win the Division.
2. Get HFA.
3. Get #1 seed.

Now we're struggling to achieve the top priority. Backing into the playoffs is fine I guess, but when the top teams are surrounding themselves with talent AND have top 10 QBs, it's going to be very difficult to be in contention. We have to stop living in the past. Those days are gone.
Negative Nancys said we had no talent the entire time the Pats were winning six rings... we never had talent, it was all Tom.

If one looks at the world through this weird prism of negativity and QB magic sure, everything is bleak.

I'd just suggest to all our negative Nancys to take your meds.

Firstly, it should be the players and coaches who were embarrassed by that playoff loss in buffalo. Because I am an avid fan dating back to the 60's with this team, I am emotionally invested in the outcomes of games. My point was embarrassment by the team (including BB) should be a strong motivator to fill gaps and markedly improve on weaknesses on display.

Thus far, the Patriots have allowed some of their best players to leave or to be traded, while their arch rivals within the division have added significant talent.

The Pats do not have a bevy of draft picks in the first three rounds this year (3, starting with 21). THe outlook for the season is not rosy or good. I do not see how any true patriots fan, emotionally invested in the team could not feel frustrated.

This forum is supposed to be an outlet for communicated happiness or frustration.

Do I wish I were not at all invested emotionally in this team? No, I enjoy following the moves closely and discussing.
Bro, you suffered thru the Rod Rust debacle. Hugh Millenated. **** Rah Rah McPherson. Victor Kiam and the Lisa Olsen mess. Jim Plunkett never developing and getting traded. Ben Drieth. Chuck Fairbanks quitting then coming back only to leave again. Sullivan getting literally b!tch slapped by Matt Millen. Orthwien threatening to move to St. Louis. Irving Fryar leaving in uniform and cutting his hand. Tony freakin' Eason. Bill Parcells quitting on the team while he should have been getting ready for the Packers because he was butt hurt about Terry Glenn. Parcells stealing Curtis Martin just so he could screw the Krafts. You're mad now? After 6 Lombardis? Six. S-I-X. I am not gonna tell you how you should be, but I can tell you I never thought they'd win one, never mind six. From my point of view, they are playing with so much house money it's not even funny. Do I get a little frustrated when there's a mass exodus like there's been the last few days? Yeah, a little. But it's relative. I'll never hate this team. They've given me and all of us fans waaaay more than we could've hoped. There's lots of things I wish went differently here in the last 4-5 years, but that's water over the dam, or under the bridge, or whatever.

Yes, they gotta get younger. Yes, they have a lot of holes to fill. Yes, they might have to build for more than this year. We got to enjoy a 20 year run. Unprecedented. If you think they can't figure it out when they had it figured out for 20 years, you maybe should reconsider. Stop listening to the negative nancies. The folks on Route 1 will get it fixed. They may not dominate for another 20 years, but they will be a premier team in the league from now on.

Take a breath. It'll be fine.

I’m always hearing on this board oh next year when Allen’s or Pats contact really kicks in they’re screwed. That’s all bs, cap can be created on the fly.
It can be, but the issue comes up when it’s created by restructuring a player who ultimately declines significantly, where cutting him creates a huge dead cap charge that hurts. One reason the Saints have been able to pull this off constantly is because they have generally been very good talent evaluators. This strategy burned the Jets five years ago, who weren’t.

The longer Robinson goes unsigned, the less likely he is going to get $18-20 million. If he had an offer for $19-20 million a year, he would already be signed. That is comprehible to what Godwin just got and what Williams got with the Chargers. He obviously hasn't gotten an offer like that yet. He still may get too much for the Patriots to be in the mix, but the absolute silence on the guy seems to be the market for him might not be as strong as people thought.

Agree. They’ve done it in the past, historically (5 years ago or so) they used Brady’s contract to create the cap room. They clearly have the ability to do so right now if they wanted; why they haven’t done so can lead to interesting speculation in the context of what it might mean they think about their own team and the current crop of free agents.

It's looking more and more like Watson may be headed to NO which is astounding considering they were $80M over the cap. I believe they're at $20+M under now.

Same goes for GB w/ that massive AR deal and the tag on DAdams.

I guess where there's a will there's a way.

That NFC South division is no longer a gimme for Tampa if he does go to New Orleans. The cap doesn't exist
