Because Meyer was a tremendous coach aside from recruiting.
That’s not an answer.

”What is your evidence that he was a great college coach?”
”That he was a tremendous coach aside from recruiting.”

Please provide specific examples of what he did. Because it sure didn’t translate to the NFL.

I would guess that there will be no person actually given the title of Offensive Coordinator in 2022, based on past history - unless the Pats rehire Bill O'Brien. I think more likely Ivan Fears will be the de facto OC, and handed the title in 2023.

Assuming that they promote from within there are few other choices.

Current Staff, Offense:
RB - Ivan Fears
WR - Mick Lombardi
WR - Troy Brown (also KR)
OL - Carmen Bricillo
OL - Cole Popovich
TE, FB - Nick Caley
QB/QC - Bo Hardegree

I thought Popvich quit?

Major props to cincy for that hold!! Ot now

Curran raises an interesting point here: why did Josh stay 4 years ago and leave now? Was it the position/team, or the Pats? He suggests it was the Pats decision, but I’m not so sure.

There are rumors that he and Chris Ballard didn't see eye to eye right away about the direction of the team and McDaniels bailed. I also wonder if he sensed that Luck was not a long timer and that he was already thinking about calling it a career. I think McDaniels bailed on what he saw was a bad situation where he only has one more shot at head coaching and the Pats covered for him by saying they offered him a better deal.

I don't know if the Pats could keep McDaniels this time around. McDaniels has a team without a meddling owner (Davis is as stupid as Irsay, but he seems hands off unlike Irsay) and has his guy installed at GM who completely buys into his system.

Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!! Bye Josh and the average at best OC work. Tom Brady’s brilliance made you what you were Josh and soon the raiders will know about that…..Too soon to be known if Brady was the primary reason for BB success as well …as Tom made the average players on offense above average and EMBOLDENED the defense knowing HE (Brady) would somehow bring team back on O…..Bucs D also spoke to this..:::Anyways Good Luck Josh Thanks for being here and your commitment to the Pats…..good luck in LA ….you WILL need it!!!

Wow
In Bill we trust.
Bill forgot more about football than Mcdaniels will ever know.
Bill forgot more about complete team ball than Andy Reid will ever know.
Now when it comes to developing, signing, drafting receivers you have a valid argument.
Except for second rnd picks i pretty much trust him

Josh is overrated IMO... We'll see, but the teams he had100% of control SUCKED.
I think he sucks Personally.

Tom is Tom, this fkn loser lived off his brilliance, he's done SQUAT without TOM.
Happy he's FINALLY GONE.

You want proof of an opinion?
He won. He build a program in Utah, built Florida into a powerhouse they weren’t before or after and dominated the big 10 at Ohio State. He was a tremendous coach.

Maybe it's the fact that the Patriots top brass despise the Colts and Irsay

We've had 3 OCs work with Brady. Weis, McD, O'Brien

McD was the best of the 3, and better than Leftwich too

Once again, Meyer said 75% of the job is recruiting. His winning isn’t evidence that he’s good at the other 25% of the job. It means he phenomenal at the 75% that matters in college. Just like Rick Pitino.

I asked for evidence that he knew how to do the other 25% of the job, because winning wasn’t it. You said there was evidence he was good at the other 25%. I asked for specivics. Your response is that he won.

Sorry. You’re entitled to your opinion just as I am, but just know your opinion is not fact based. Happy to hear evidence to the contrary and be convinced otherwise, Lord knows I’ve been wrong about a million things. But I’m just not seeing it here.

Reading this thread I am wondering just how many kids did Ron Borges have?

I am going out on a limb and say that the Pats WR situation is going to be instantly solved... Even if it's a Seventh Rounder.

I hope Josh 2 TE offense he sold the raiders on isn't the one he ran this year with our 2 highly paid tight ends

We done for a while. Just Erect the Brady statue and call it a season.
