Rapoport, Schefter: Josh McDaniels, Dave Ziegler hired by Raiders for HC/GM Positions

Bummer.

Hate to see him leave in what is probably Mac's most important offseason in terms of development

I think the weirdest part about this is the total lack of an "heir" to Bill right now. It felt like it was a 90% chance that that guy was McDaniels after his bizarre ditching of Indianapolis and the reportedly very high amount of money he was paid as an OC. Now he's gone, and there's not really anyone on the team who seems like a good bet to be able to step into those shoes.

Sadly, it might be his son to eventually take over...

If that is the case, I'd consider NO longer being a Patriots fan...

Here comes our yearly raiding of Pat's personally.

There are trying to capture lightning in a bottle.

That will probably only happen if they get BB

Raiders make hiring Ziegler official:

Josh researched this extensively, but he missed the biggest piece - it's Las Vegas.

The first year the Raiders moved to Las Vegas both number one picks go bad. One of them despite being a Chief was arrested again this week; in Las Vegas.

It gets in rich young people's blood. It's almost impossible to prevent the influence.

Better to have it happen earlier than later, though it stinks to have to replace both in the same offseason.

Personally I am actually more concerned with finding the proper replacement of Ziegler than of McDaniels. A guy replacing Ziegler has to accept the fact that he has zero chance of being promoted from Director of Player Personnel to General Manager, as well as competing with Matt Patricia when trying to have his opinions heard.

I don't think so. I mentioned this in the thread I'd started.. Outside of Ivan Fears, Nick Caley, and Steve Belichick, the Pats staff all have less than 5years coaching experience.

This is why I said that the Pats will have to look outside for an OC. I also think that they'll bring back Flores if he doesn't get hired by the Saints.

Conversely it could be an avenue to shed some guys. They might take Agholor back in a trade if the Pats decide to upgrade that spot, which would be a nice cap savings. Maybe they'll even take Harry (lol)

I am surprised Flores hasn't gotten a HC job yet.

My guess is the 2022 Patriots will be better than the 2022 Raiders but still lose to them.
I hope not, I plan to go to that game, that will put such a damper on my trip !!!

Maybe bb will hire hoyer to be the offensive coordinator.

Fat Matt is in house

Good luck Josh, competing with Mahomes and Herbert is no easy task. The whole league is going through a complete makeover.
Josh has seemed pretty picky over the years only to pick a suicidal task of competing in this division again. The raiders must have gave him some serious job security to pry him loose at this time. I am a little concerned about Mac's growth under a new coordinator, but also excited to see what the change will look like. With BB as our HC, there is a limit to how bad we will do regardless of who is calling plays.

My gut tells me he has a rep as being challenged on the offensive side of the ball

Wheels are greased. Fat Matt takes over Ziegler's role on his way to GM position. Little Steven will become HC. It's destiny.
